“Great pub food in the Newington area. Worth stopping by for a bite to eat if your in the area. Good selection of beers and friendly staff.”
“Amazing view with delicious food! Tried Nachos, Curly fries. Having a great place to sit inside or outside with a good view to click pictures.”
“The sandwiches at the pub quiz are great as that's the food the service. Service and atmosphere. The staff are friendly and professional. It's a friendly pub and everyone is welcome. I highly recommend the quiz on a Thursday 50pp entry but that includes sandwiches or recently fantastic pizzas and a chance of winning at least £50. Adam's questions can however be a bit questionable but the forfeit round makes it a lot more interesting. We have however managed to win on 3 occasions in the last year.”
“Love my uncles pub great memories great laff with the Barr staff great pint the heritage great brings me back to being a kid standing looking in as a kid looking for uncle frank”
“The dining section of this place is spectacular! The food was so good (try the chicken leek and tarragon pie and the cranachan!) and the server was kind and helpful. It's a nice place to dine as a solo traveler.”
“They had beautiful decorations up so we wanted to pop in for a few pints. We had kids but they were super helpful with explaining the rules and letting us enjoy ourselves. Didn’t eat much more than some bar food, the back of the restaurant looks enjoyable as well.”
“Gluten free fish and chips, that’s basically all I have to say! Friendly staff, food is great. Went back for a second night.”
“We went to the restaurant upstairs and the food was excellent. We got the meat pies and the mash. If you haven't had a Carachan dessert yet, I highly recommend you save room to try it. We have been told that the dish is just as traditional as haggis, and we really enjoyed it. The establishment itself was pretty busy, so we had to wait for about 45-50 minutes before the three of us were seated. However, the wait didn't feel too long because we were able to hang out downstairs and have a couple beers.”
“For pure haggis taste experiment, here is the place. Steak pie has lack of salt but good anyway. Waiter is amazing, he helped us about picking the dish and adviced some other places. The sticky dessert is edible, but I don't recommend. Restaurant is on the second floor, you can enter from first floor pub.”
“Not been in, in a long time but still a fantastic pub. Good range of drinks & a great team. Hope to make it down this way again sooner rather than later.”
“I haven't had any food here yet, but have enjoyed a few beers. Its a great place to stop in after a round of golf. If you are a fan of golf and its history, this is a great place to pop in and take it in. They will rent you gear to play a quick round at a fun course. Its a nice 2 mile walk and can be done in ~2 hours if you have some experience.”
“Great pub with amazing sea food and vast whisky selection eclectic decor adds to the ambiance”
“Same owners as Bennets Bar and similar vibe. Cozy, rustic, authentic. Popular and crowded for a reason. Great selection of beer and whiskeys. Great corner pub for a pint either after work or during any time of day. A fun experience and certainly a great escape during a rainy day.”
“Fanatic wetherspoons (one of the best I've been in) two lovely upper balcony's with plenty seating areas, looking over the old stage. Great selection of drinks, including local ales Fast friendly service from the staff and the food is pretty decent for a spoons and also if your on a bit of a budget”
“We were blown away by the food here! Coming from NYC and being a huge foodie I could not have asked for a better first meal here in Edinburgh. Special thanks to Hubert for his kindness and recommendations and to the very kind bartender. If we find ourselves in Edinburgh again we will be coming back and recommending to our friends and family!”
“Easy to find and easy to get to. Less than a 5 minute walk from Waverly train station. The food was excellent quality and well priced based on the quality, quantity and obviously location. 2nd time visiting and would 100% visit again.”
“We come here every time we come to Edinburgh for our Sunday roast Lovely food everytime. Pleasant staff can't do enough.”
“We went for a tasting menu prepared by chefs Bart and Pawel, everything was absolutely delicious. First time having rabbit pie and pidgeon, really enjoyed both. The chefs were more than happy to accommodate dietary restrictions also. The service was great and all staff very friendly. We will definitely be back!”
“Wow! What a great dinner! After having looked to book a table at several other places for dinner and coming up short - we decided to book a table here! Using the 3 snacks for £14 deal (+ some sides and drinks) we had a great, filling meal for 2 for only £23! the snacks were great value and the waiters were very friendly. I WILL be coming back!”
“I was on a visit to Edinburgh Xmas Market first over a few days with my granddaughter we were told to come and eat here by my daughter while down here we had the best experience and the atmosphere was amazing I love anything Rock N Roll staff were fantastic as well as the food cocktails are great they have mocktails too”
“Popped in here today on our way home from Go Ape. We were welcomed by a friendly local who told us where to sit for food. The staff didn't take long to locate us a table for 5 and we were seated within minutes. We placed our order and food started coming out within a reasonable time. Unfortunately there is no kids menu but there is half portions available on some of the main menu. Or as the server said, just ask and they will do chicken nuggets or fish fingers, no problem. All of the food that we had was really good and we had lots of clean plates. We will defo be back when we are back around this area.”
“Cool place down to earth staff customer banter real ale”

“Great service and amazing food. Would recommend for anyone who likes live music too as there’s music every Saturday! Great place”
“Really nice hotel. Friendly staff - and fellow guests! My room's WC was across the hall, which isn't perfect for a prostate cancer survivor, but it was private. Everything else tickety-boo.”
“My wife and kids were here today for a lunch my wife and I both enjoyed the Xmas menu just wow food was amazing with very fair portions and very extremely tasty high quality food I'm a big lad I'd suggest maybe 2 or 3 pigs in blankets and 2 Yorkie pudding but that's just me and have a good appetite but as I did say very fair portion for the price our servers Willie and didnt get the lady's name blonde hair very polite we couldn't have asked for better staff today keep it up folks it's not our first time here and certainly won't be our last have a great Xmas and happy new year”

“We got married at Marlins Wynd on the 21st of November and it was honestly the most magical day of our lives. Venue is just stunning, the food was lovely and the staff are just wonderful, helpful and so attentive. Huge thank you to Caroline, Dylan and the rest of the team who did everything to help with the planning of our day, looking after us and our guest on the day and all the little details in-between. Thank you so much ❤️”
