“Not going to lie I had a really great time at the bar. Bartender dropped a few glasses through the night but there was such a great atmosphere it didn’t matter. it really made my night and I would really recommend this bar to people looking to have a fun time at a quirky bar with great vibes. Also just to say that the bartenders were excellent at serving pints et cetera”

“Escaped from the rain for lunch at Hector’s. This place has plenty of varied seating options and a sizable menu that includes some daily specials. We chose the Drink and meal combo for about 13 pounds. Both were good but I preferred the clubhouse. I would highly recommend this as a possible stop along the nearby stream side walk.”

“Having been to this restaurant once or twice before, we generally know what to expect. Warm service, hassle free, cosy atmosphere and on the whole a nice comfortable vibe. We're glad to say, we weren't disappointed. Once again it was great. They looked after our vegans and our 7 year, who was a little picky. The girl who served us, was looking after a number of tables in our wee nook and she handled it all with ease. Another observation about Foresters, is their attention to details. Little things that make everything go smooth. For example: 1.We changed the booking numbers a few days before, they couldn't have been more accommodating.2. They sent out a confirmation email a day before the booking to ensure everything was still as was. This is a nice touch and gives peace of mind to both the restaurant and eaters.3. The welcome you receive is always warm, smiles, natural.4. They made changes to both our meals and our drinks, which they didn't have to. This made us feel kind of special.5. Our 7 year old was given the special treatment, from the servers, with apple juices and a meal made out with the designated menu. This was cute. Thanks to all the staff for makin us feel like superstars”

“A group of four of us had lite bites and cocktails here before attending The Military Tattoo, as part of The Drummer tickets. The staff were superb, very welcoming and friendly. The food and cocktails were great. A very relaxing start to the evening, as they even escorted us into the Castle grounds for the performance.”

“I was strolling around looking for a relaxing dinner spot and I’m so happy i had stumbled upon this place! As an American new to Scotland my impression of food here has been tourist traps, Italian and Indian food. All food is considered good but not amazing. This spot tho? I would never ever be able to recreate their seafood linguine! And i feel like that’s the root of the best meals, something you can never make! I will dream of this pasta for the rest of my years!”

“The best Mexican restaurant bar none! The staff are fabulous and didn’t try to rush us as we were choosing what we wanted. They answered all the questions we had about the drinks and brought our chosen food and drinks really quickly. We shared a cheese and haggis quesadilla starter, mains were a burrito and enchilada and we rounded it off with some delicious sorbet. It was so nice to talk, eat and drink in such a relaxed atmosphere and we were more than happy to leave a tip as the whole meal was such good value for money. We can’t wait to come back the next time we are in Edinburgh.”

“Visited for a few drinks while having a mini break in Edinburgh. Managed to get a window seat and looking onto Princess Street. Warm, comfortable and inviting environment. Staff were attentive and friendly. Cocktails were lush. Initially only wanted a couple of drinks but ended up ordering the three small plates from the menu, I am so glad we did! They were all yummy! The beef Wellington tacos were amazing! Will definitely return on our next visit to Edinburgh”

“Had a fantastic meal here. Was pleasantly surprised. Really handy place if you were going to the cinema or bowling across the road. The atmosphere was nice and the staff were all very friendly. Haggis pakora for starter were phenomenal. Best version of it I've had. Cool touch with the Irn Bru hot sauce, too. For the main, i had the butter chicken pie. This was also really very tasty, good quality curry that you could tell had been cooking for a while. I would definitely recommend this place if you are in the area.”

“Honestly my favourite place in Leith. The new owners turned it round without removing everything that made it great.They did what few dare to do - keep it authentic. Everyone I know who embodies the best aspects of Leith loves this place.. It feels like yer best mate’s living room. When quiet, it’s idyllic, when jumpin it speaks for itself. Never look down on the boundary bar… I dare say you might once again fall in love.”

“Maisey and all the girls are amazing. Adam the manager was also fantastic. I came like 4 times in my two week stay and every experience was 10/10. I miss you guys and the food was amazing. Best pub by far in the city centre. Haggis neeps and tatties was better than my grans. (Sorry Gran! RIP!) and the fish and chips were unreal. I’m from Toronto Canada and we have some of the best food and beverage service workers in the world. I was very impressed with all the staff, some of the best in the city . “A great little pub in Marchmont with regular tradition music sessions by musicians who really know what they’re doing. Slow in the afternoon but picks up around 4:30. Nice German beers on tap.”
