“Tucked away just off Hessle Road Stricky is a friendly pub. The landlady, Dianne, is lovely and popular with the customers.”
“Pleasant bar to visit the prices are above average but worth it”
“Don't think they serve food, didn't ask ...why would you ? ...They serve good beer.”
“We attended a 50th birthday party here last night and wow, what can I say. The venue is perfect for a gathering big or small. The room is perfectly decorated and has a fab atmosphere. There is a great outside area which is great for a warm summer night to get fresh air. The staff are amazing and went beyond expectations to make sure the evening ran smoothly. Anything the birthday girl needed, was delivered by the team here. The bar is well stocked and plenty of choice of beverages. The birthday girl had also hired a Photo Booth which fitted perfectly in the area next to the room. Highly recommend.”
“It is such a good place to shop no problem with parking ever. Love it xxxx”
“Thought it had closed down, so Happy to see it open, Lovely Food and Very Cheap”
“Great atmosphere, friendly members, always something fun to do.”
“What a fab events bar! We booked it for a children's party and it was perfect. The staff were super helpful and very friendly. Plenty of room for the entertainment and dancing. The food was laid out in a separate adjoining area which was really useful. Very easy to book and reasonably priced too!”
“My favourite place to go and have a drink relax. So calm and friendly in there. Cheap to book the function room aswell. I've booked it loads of time”
“Stopped here for a couple of hours and loved it. The food, service, location, scenery, and locals were all great. Highly recommended.”
“First of all I only went for Sunday lunch and was really good, the mussels starter excellent as was the pink melt in your mouth roast beef and the medley of vegetables plus the cauliflower cheese. I had the Eton mee which was also excellent. The only thing I would add is I would like my plate to have been warmer for the main course.”
“I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Black Bull in East Holton, and I can't recommend it enough! From the moment we walked in, the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The pub itself is charming, and I especially appreciated the dedicated restaurant area. It was quiet and peaceful, providing the perfect setting for a relaxing meal. The Christmas decorations added a lovely festive touch, making the experience even more special. Now, let's talk about the food – absolutely incredible! Every dish was freshly prepared with obvious care and attention to detail. The flavors were fantastic, and the quality of the ingredients was top-notch. It's clear that The Black Bull takes pride in serving delicious, home-cooked food. Overall, I had a wonderful experience at The Black Bull. The friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, and outstanding food make it a must-visit. Whether you're looking for a festive meal or simply a delicious dinner in a welcoming pub, The Black Bull is an excellent choice.”
“Another fabulous meal at Manor Court! Friendly welcome from all team members as always. Fantastic service from all staff members working on the restaurant floor. We ordered the battered cod which was very good served with a side salad and presented to a high standard. We also had two puddings which again I know are home cooked and absolutely delicious. Thank you for your great hospitality. We will definitely be back again. Claire & Richard”
“Our first time, very pleasant atmosphere. Food good and reasonable value. Had lasagna with garlic bread, and the soup/sandwich deal.”
“I saw a few reviews from Caprani’s and thought I’d also give my review of the same night. We too called to book a table, whilst we were aiming for 6:30pm, we were able to secure a table for 6:45pm. The chap on the phone was lovely and polite. We turned up, on arrival the bar was busy and the atmosphere was sociable with country music playing (much to one of our friends delight). There were 3/4 other full tables, all of which looked delighted with their meals. We ordered drinks and food, no issue. In fact, the children’s wished to order a an adults meal off the special board which the kitchen was more than happy to accommodate as 2 children’s meal. Thank you! Our table ordered the red Thai curry, 3 steaks and 2 portions of ribs. All of which were cooked to perfection and tasted gorgeous! The homemade chips were the right combo of crispy and soft, they reminded me of how my great grandma use to do hers. We stayed until around 9pm. The service from the waitress was lovely, it was nice to see the owners socialising with visitors and the beer gardens been used. The only down side was the lack of desserts. They only had two options available when we were asked if we’d like desserts at 8pm, but we were pretty full from the large portions way. I’m not sure what pub the two other individuals went too, it sounds like they had a rough time, but this definitely wasn’t our experience at the Half Moon Skidby ♥️ We will be back again soon!”
“My husband and I have just had two full breakfasts. Best ever. Always nice but extra special today. Everything lovely and hot, cooked to perfection. Well done. The lady that served us was lovely too, very busy bless her. Nothing was too much trouble. Are favourite place for an all day cooked breakfast.”
“I booked to come in here after a day of walking in the area. Not knowing the area well and being autistic, I was nervous, so I called up to book and ask questions. My mind was immediately put to rest, Rob and the lady (Sorry can't remember your name) were so kind, patient and understanding. They immediately knew where to put me after me explaining my needs. I booked in for 2pm on a Tuesday, explaining I might be a bit early or late depending on walking speed and conditions. Upon arriving early at 1:30pm, I was greeted by Rob, who got me seated in the 'library', a space off to the side, where there's just the one table. He explained how to order and about the food. I ordered cod and chips. The food came quite (but not too) quickly and was fresh. The portion size was generous. The peas weren't overcooked like they are in a lot of places. Chips came a bit lightly done for my liking but I'm sure if I ask them next time, they'll make them crisper. Accessibility: The entrance is level, but the door is heavy due to the buildings age. Some wheelchair users might need to phone the bar and get staff help to open it. The inside itself is indeed wheelchair accessible. I forgot to check on toilets. As stated above, awareness of hidden disabilities seems great and the staff I dealt with were very patient and clear when speaking with me.”
“Absolute gem of a pub, real little intimate pub, if you want a place where your family is made welcome and your grub is prepared by highly skilled staff, look no further.”
“Absolutely superb! We arrived on a Sunday without a booking. We were taken to a table in no time at all. The service and food were both excellent. We'll definitely be returning.”
“We regularly visit The Grosvenor whenever we’re in the area and it’s always a great experience. All the staff remember us, which makes us feel so welcome, and they really can’t do enough to help. The food is always lovely and such good value for money. We’re already looking forward to coming back over Christmas!”
“My colleague and I went to Al Porto Italian restaurant on Thursday and were blown away by our food! The restaurant has a really nice, chilled out vibe, but still holds a level of class. I had the duck liver to start followed by the best risotto I've ever tasted. My colleague had the garlic prawns to start and the spaghetti carbonara for his main. All of the food was lovely”
“Nice little place, eat in or take away.. I had the bacon and sausage sandwich. Was really tasty. Others had chip butties and said they were lovely. It was quiet when we 1st went in but got busier as time went on. Toilets are upstairs so no good for people with mobility issues.”
“Popped in during the summer for a drink and noticed how good the meals looked so I promised myself to get back. Well the food did not disappoint, two of us had the beef and ale pie and my OH had halloumi burger and chips. Portions are generous and none of us could finish our meals. The food itself was excellent, the beef pie was perfection as were the homemade chips. My partner enjoyed her halloumi burger but her fries were not as good as my homemade ones. The service was good and the two girls behind the bar were friendly. The puddings look very good but we didn't bother today. A lovely afternoon out see you again soon. *** EDIT*** Been back today 15/4/25, Cant believe its been four months since our last visit. This time two of us had the fish and chips and I have to say the quality of the fish was top notch, the batter was absolutely perfect and it was all cooked perfectly. My Partner had the Halloumi burger again and really enjoyed. But this visit we had the grandkids with us. The eldest decided to have the Nachos for his main( its a starter for sharing) it was huge and really tasty whilst the youngest just had the pizza and chips off the kids menu, Beer was spot on and service was efficient and friendly. Well done The Duke team, wont leave if so long till my next visit.”
“This was a superb pub for drinking, with a lively old Tudor interior! The classic pub imagery on the walls and ceilings adds a quirkiness, counter has a compact design. I enjoyed a pint of Mango Cider, sitting at a large table with comfy seats!”
“Eaten here now on a few occasions. The food here is excellent. The steak pie is to die for and had the fish yesterday. Best piece of fish I have had in ages. Not greasey one bit. Hate fish when all wet and sloppy. Not here it was cooked perfect. Def be back again.”
“Wonderful grounds to explore - we were on a touring pitch and had all amenities close by. Shower and toilet blocks were immaculate clean and really spacious. Great little pub on site and very friendly and helpful staff - welcome pack very informative.”
“We had the best meal in a pub for a long time. Everything was perfect. The pub was cosy, traditional and welcoming. Staff were lovely.”
“Had a fantastic meal here tonight for my wife's birthday. She got her hollumi fix with a generous portion on her salad, I had the chicken stroganoff which was excellent. The cocktail was lovely too. Service was spot on, attentive and friendly. All in all a great night out with great food. We will be back!”
“Lovely pub great atmosphere, Dannie and Staff at so attentive and friendly. Great customer services”
