“Popped in for some dinner with my family and had an absolutely amazing time! Our server Sophie was quick to recommend plenty of options (we have some vegetarians, and some picky eaters) without missing a beat. She was also eternally patient with us which takes a lot.. The fish and chips and jam roly poly were GORGEOUS and we'll definitely be coming back!!!”

“First visit after refurbishing…it looks amazing. Food was fresh & delicious as always. Service was excellent from arriving to leaving. We were out for a celebration bringing our cousin out for the evening after being in hospital for 5 months & we were not disappointed. Clive Courtney & Charlie showed outstanding service throughout our evening.”

“Busy pub just outside the bus station. Spacious inside and very spacious outside. They have events on outside at times, which are very popular . I often go in before Huddersfield Town games on Saturday afternoons and it is very busy. Good selection of beers at reasonable prices which compare well with other pubs in town.”

“Honest review Stayed here for the first time Saturday 20th September 2025 stayed in room 6 Impressed with the room for the price we payed the room had plenty of tea, coffee, milk with large cups. Rooms were excellent value really spotlessly clean with comfy bed and pillows. Shower was warm with toiletries. Can be noisy on a night with the bar being allocated below rooms but this is to be expected as it is a pub and it did not dampen our experience. Overall cannot fault would stop here again”

“Fabulous night out again, thanks to Chris and the team. This is Yorkshire's premier jazz club. Ok it might not be what you expect in terms of venue, as it is the Hockey Club Bar, but that does mean cheaper drinks! I have not eaten there, so can't comment, but food is available. The reason this is a premier jazz club is down to the quality of the acts they book, which are usually of an international standard, every Friday in the season”

“Absolutely beautiful food and very accommodating they let me order off the other menu with more vegan options . I had a vegan starter and main and they were both amazing and the presentation was like eating at a very expensive restaurant. My partner and kids had non vegan food and the presentation was just as good and their feedback was that the flavour was top notch. I would 100% recommend for anyone looking to eat out locally and would even encourage people to travel to eat here. I will be returning and thank you for a warm atmosphere and again beautiful food.”

“Given a real lift to the area. Tastefully decorated bars selling good beers and spirits. Nice vibe with occasional live music, separate gin and cocktail bars and showings of classic movies. Happy hour cocktails Thursday till Sunday. What's not to like...”

“My first Soul Brew night at this local WMC which although I've passed it dozens of times have never been inside before so really didn't know what to expect. My first problem was that there's some really steep steps to manoeuvre so not the easiest entry for someone with arthritis in cold weather but I was determined !! I'm never disappointed with Soul Brew gigs, they're a really class act locally and if you're wondering what all this 'Northern Soul' fuss and passion's about you'd be well advised to check out any local events (see Soul Source) for any local DJ crews as we're very fortunate in having some excellent Crews, venues & local DJ's so you won't be disappointed !! This was really old school /Wigan era stuff and absolutely fabulous with some awesome dancers wearing very traditional clothing so a real joy to see so many folk with the same passion I feel about this music genre. The dancefloor's a good size and these lads really know their stuff just as they do at Jeremy's Boathouse and The George at Cleckheaton. Sadly I couldn't get there for the start of the evening but delighted that I made the last hour even though I'd missed my friends but the folk I spoke to were all delightful and I hope to see them again on another dancefloor soon !! The barstaff and prices were great, I tried a different brand of cider which went down a treat so that'll become my regular tipple there . I was a bit disappointed with the inside of the club, it could really do with a good coat of paint and a freshen up but that's up to the club management and its members to decide. Overall with plenty of seating & local free parking an easy 15 /10, I need to get my act together and get there on time for the next one, KTF all x x”
