“We came for bottomless drinks (with meal included) on the nighttime. Sage, our server, was truly amazing. She was so welcoming and attentive and we could not have asked for a better server. “Recently re-opened as Brew York and Little Bao Boy collaboration this is a great venue to have open in Chapel Allerton. Loads of delicious beer and other drink options and the food we had was excellent. We'll definitely be coming back. Great for a relaxed dining option.”

“Went into pontefract it was a ghost town nothing hardly open so went into liquorice bush was made very welcome so we had our Sunday lunch what a meal chicken and beef the meat melted in your mouth the yorkshire pud was great everything on the plate was delicious we had the pensioners one and I couldn't eat all mine all for £6 each where can you get that any better thank you liquorice bush you made our miserable day brighter we will be back”

“Just had our annual Christmas dinner and get together here for the first time and absolutely loved it xx portion sizes are huge, the food was served hot, no mean feat when serving 15 people and really delicious xx the staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble xx if you are looking for somewhere to eat, don't miss this xx”

“My wife and I used to go fairly regularly, prior to the convid lockdowns but, as it went through various changes of ownership, we went elsewhere. Anyway, as it's local, we decided to see if it was as awful as some recent reviews and went today (04/12/2025). We had an excellent experience. The staff were attentive, polite and courteous. The food was also of a high standard and, there was plenty of it. My wife had the scampi, and she had about 20 pieces on her plate! I had the steak and ale pie, and it WAS a 'pie'. Proper pastry top and bottom, not a piece of puff pastry on top of a bowl of meat. It was stuffed with lean, tender steak. Both meals came with triple cooked, hand cut, chips and, again, plenty of them. We both enjoyed our meals and, we'll be going back - a bit more regularly.”

“Had an absolutely amazing stay here over the weekend. Staff couldn't do enough to make you feel welcome, spacious room with a FANTASTIC shower, right in the centre of town as well which was perfect for us. Breakfast was included in the coatvof the room and was massive and so tasty! Would definitely stay again.”

“Absolutely amazing stay. Beautiful cozy bedroom with the comfiest of beds, slept brilliantly on both nights. The spa was fantastic. Treatments were the best and staff amazing at what they do. Definitely worth a mention. Gary who works front desk at spa makes the place. He is a huge asset. Very welcoming and friendly. He deserves the best review. Hope he gets to see this. We are going through a lot at the moment and Gary went above and beyond for us. He is funny and attentive. Made us laugh and smile and we felt very relaxed and can’t thank him enough.”

“I honestly don't know how they can produce such high quality food as a buffet, with so many available dishes. All the meat was tender, even the beef. They had some unusual dishes to try, like eel sushi, which was delicious and apples cooked in wine, which was the star of the show, in my opinion. Very friendly staff too. We will definitely be back.”

We were a group of 6 peoples.We ordered starters and main both.. For the main, 3 of our party had the Steak and each opted for a different sauce option. I chose peppercorn and would recommend this. Steak was juicy and cooked well to a medium rare. Fries were thin and crispy. For dessert I had the Tiramisu . This was the best tiramisu. I tried. I also had a glass of the Merlot this was nice. The toilets were well decorated and flushed effectively. Everything was spot on.. Surely,Would definitely back again..”

“We've just had our painters meeting AGM today. We all had a meal, and the food was super. Steak and ale pie with chips and peas was excellent. The service was first class, and the staff are wonderful. We go every month. It's a lovely pub.”

“Tried this for the first time and omg it is fantastic quick service but you can taste how fresh their food is, burgers are phenomenal albeit a little bit peppery on a couple of bites, fantastic staff and I will definitely be going again.”

“Where do I start. Visited the sun pub for early dinner booked table online. After entering and been greeted by a friendly chap behind the bar was directed to our table which had my name on reserved. We ordered starters and a main food came out quickly and was absolutely great. We will definitely be returning to this pub for breakfast and Sunday lunches. The staff are all great and very attentive to customers. We didn't know until visit it's dog friendly aswell but we left the pup home . If you're hungry and in the area don't drive passed this brilliant pub.”

“Landlord always welcoming and pleasant. Fantastic local pub and lovely home cooked food. Huge beer garden with plenty of space for kids to play on slide and climbing frames as well as enough room for football with kiddies. Staff always helpful and welcoming. Lovely atmosphere and the Woodfest on bank Holidays are a must!!”

“The home made chips are back!! I can honestly say they have definitely been worth the wait! My Daughter also highly rates the chocolate fudge cake. Can’t wait to sample the rest of the new home made menu. Michael & Amber & the rest of the staff are absolutely wonderful and always greet you with a warm & welcoming smile. They’ve worked so hard to try and get this pub back to its best and I really hope it pays off for them. The transformation inside is amazing, so light & bright and the bar looks fantastic. Safe to say we will be regular visitors!”
