“Fantastic new look antique centre in the centre of Pontefract. Friendly staff. And lots of interesting things to look at.”
“ABSOLUTELY EXCEPTIONAL! And a great price list! I’m a very fussy eater! Tried every cafe in hemsworth and didn’t like any of them then I found this little gem! The food is amazing! The meat is top quality and the lady’s that run the cart are so lovely and accommodating. I’ll be a loyal customer for life now! I 100% would recommend this place!”
“Excellent place to have a kids Party, plenty of room for the little ones to play and a bouncy castle for extra if required. Provide your own catering so can be as cheap/expensive as you want to make it. Couldn't be more accommodating. If weather is good Sutcliffe play is over the road too with a great outdoor play park.”
“I know the chef at this restaurant and his cooking is superb! Food is excellent and the hospitality is like no other restaurant I've been too. I highly recommend for anyone local, new comers, or those that are passing by to stop by and grab a bite at this cute little spot :)”
“Fantastic food great atmosphere very friendly staff”
“First visit for drinks then returned for dinner. The superb range of dishes on the menu made it hard to choose. My partner went for duck breast, while I had chicken in a mushroom and brandy sauce. Both meals were delicious. Drinks were well priced and the staff were first class. Friendly, helpful and efficient. The whole ambience of the place is chilled and relaxed with good music and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended.”
“Dropped in on a Sunday afternoon after Grok (my AI) suggested the Angel as the best spot for a Sunday lunch between Pontefract and Barnsley, boy did grok nail that recommendation!! Fitted us in no problem, food was just amazing (especially the black pudding wrapped scotch eggs!!) portions were huge, like the Yorkshire puddings!!, vegetables all cooked to perfection. Definitely couldn’t fault a single thing, well done to you all, and a shout out to the fabulous staff. Thanks for a great Sunday lunch, you didn’t disappoint and Grok rules for recommendations!!”
“Very warm welcome, big pizzas at fair prices, drink fairly priced also. The whole pub and grounds has been renovated to a very nice old/modern look standard. Definitely will return”
“wenr last night ,my first time and wow whot a place, gteat staff great food and fantastic turn defo coming back”
“Very good little village pub with large beer garden and plentiful outdoor seating. Has some additional seating to the front as well. A very well kept and clean pub with extremely shiny brasses. Natural stone walls and chunky wooden beams. Handpulled cask beers were Black Sheep and Farmer's Blonde. Also had a selection of sandwiches available. All good, would revisit and would recommend.”
“Always been a fan of the Turkish/Greek sort of grills and what a little gem this place is in the middle of, out of all places, Pontefract (no offense to anyone from Pontefract). It's a pretty cosy establishment, about 26 covers max, but any place of that size and a focused menu set, typically means they can focus on the quality of the dishes, and boy, tonight's meal was a joy. For anyone going for the first time, I'd definitely recommend the mixed grill as it has a full range of lamb kebab, lamb chop, adana (which btw was awesome, right lamb mince consistency with the delicate balance of herbs and spices), chicken kebab and chicken wing. Rice was flavourful and the salad refreshing with the appropriate amount of dressing. Other half has the chicken Marmanis, which was indeed tasty, white wine sauce with the mushrooms just right without being too salty or sharp. Only a slight blip was a tough tendon in her piece of chicken - something that can be easily corrected I'm sure. Baklava for dessert is home made rather than shop bought so that's a massive positive for me. All washed down with a Turkish apple tea to cleanse the pallette to end a surprising but delightful evening meal. Service was excellent and attentive, the team there are super friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back and is an establishment we will bring friends and family to. A must visit. 5*. If the team are reading this? teşekkür ederim”
“Lovely dogs friendly pub, very friendly staff, couple of nice cask ales and ciders to choose from”
“Brilliant pub, great atmosphere, good classic tunes on the sound system. Frequent live acts. Food only available on special events, unless you count crisps. Love the Thursday quiz and play your cards right.”
“Great coffee shop/cafe. Staff extremely friendly and welcoming - worth dropping in for a catch up with friends. Food value for money”
“Stopped In while travelling, fast service, very nice polite staff, very tasty breakfast, we ordered the small breakfast each and it was too much for us to finish. Great value for money would definitely stop there again if we are in the area.”
“Brilliant bar, lovely decor, and a good selection of drinks & games to play”
“Absolutely amazing food! Would definitely recommend for the breakfast also the Friday night meals!”
“Had a delightful meal here recently, staff couldn't have been more welcoming or accomodating. We forgot to specify that we were booking for a meal so there wasn't supposed to be food on that night but one of the staff swapped into her chef whites & cooked us up a delicious feast. Would absolutely recommend, baked camembert (both flavours) & the mussels were spot on!”
“A very well presented room, close to local amenities. Friendly and helpful service was provided by Carol on my arrival, and everything I needed was provided. Local cafes made up for the current lack of a breakfast option on the premises.”
“We call here quite regularly as we walk our dog , Teddy around the castle. The cafe is a credit to-the staff as they are very welcoming, the latte is one of the best around and the cakes are delicious.”
“My go to place for a big takeaway sandwich in Pontefract. Good food and selection, their sweet stuff is good too. Friendly team:)”

“It's a delightful breakfast spot where freshly prepared food is served with a nice cup of coffee. The staff is friendly and attentive, offering vegetarian options and accepting card payments. I highly recommend this place.”
“We had a very pleasant afternoon having lunch and browsing the farm shops! It’s very well organised and has plenty of parking. It’s dog friendly everywhere including the farm shop which was brilliant! There’s plenty of space for children to let off steam! They’ve currently have PYO sunflowers which you need to book tickets online. Lunch was great and you can order from a QR code at your table!”
