“Just got back from Common wood after a four day fishing trip on Llewellyn lake and had a great time, me and my pal both beat our personal best. The fish in Llewellyn are in amazing condition the place is pretty clean and tidy. The Bailiff Tony was brilliant, he came around every morning and anything we needed he sorted, he also shared his knowledge of the lake with us. We had breakfast delivered to our pegs and we also went down to the bar for a pizza and beers in the evening. The pizza’s are handmade and cooked in a pizza oven and it’s the best tasting pizza i have had in a while. The food and atmosphere is great.”

“The blue lake is absolutely gorgeous and lovely to walk around. It’s not every day you see an actual blue lake! The children’s parks (2 of them) are well equipped for the children to enjoy, plus there’s an outdoor gym for all ages. There’s also a big field behind the lake for a sit down field picnic, or gymnastics session if you fancy it like we did (no bones broken). There are also lots of baby ducklings and cygnets if you visit in the right months (April/May). AND, LOTS of squirrels. Which we’ve fed nuts to in the past - super cute! Overall, highly recommend for the family on a sunny day & winter walks! (Ice cream van there year round. I believe there is a café which I’ve heard good things of, but I’ve never been in).”

    Tatton Park, Knutsford entrance

    ★★★★☆ 4.5

“I had a beautiful morning exploring the gardens at Tatton Park. It’s free for RHS members. But be warned that you need to pay £10 to park the car regardless of whether you visit any of the attractions. There’s toilets in the courtyard alongside a garden shop, cafe, gift shop, and bookshop. The gardens were looking great as we venture into autumn. There’s some beautiful dahlias still flowering and creating a wonderful display. Plenty of ripening apples and pears! Must be a fantastic season this year!! Lots of areas to wander in peace. The grounds are serene and as I was there at 10, there was hardly a soul! So plenty of beautiful photo opportunities!!”

“Well kept, lovely and spacious park. Lots of events, clearly excellent ranger team. Café food is basic but nice enough for a quick pit stop, the prices are very affordable, cafe staff are lovely and efficient. Definitely recommend visiting here. The only negative is that on event days the toilets by the cafe are not cleaned and stocked frequently enough so can be unpleasant. On a normal day they are a bit dated but clean.”

“Lovely peaceful place, you can have short or long walks depending on what you want. Paths are well kept and accessible to all, lots of bird life around and the brook is visible for a lot of the walking areas. Visited in early May and the bluebells were out just to add to the beauty of the place. I used to live very near here and hadn't visited the valley in nearly 50 years, I couldn't believe how much the woodland had expanded.”

    Hesketh Park

“Visited Hesketh Park. What a lovely park it is. You have a cafe onsite that sells food & non alcoholic beverages. You also have an ice cream parlour. Which I personally wasn't a fan of myself. They also have a big children's play area. You can also play crazy golf in the park. £3 per person I was told. You have outdoor toilets that cost 40p to use. However, they are kept clean to my knowledge. They have a few walking trails with arch ways and steps to walk up to explore all the different areas in the park. They also have the Observatory in the park which isn't accessible to the public no more. They have the lake to walk around and the water fountains were in action. Very therapeutic to listen to especially on a sunny day. The cafe sellls duck feed for £1 so you can feed the ducks. It is a lovely park to visit. So if you ever go to Southport for a day or a holiday. Definitely checkout the park.”

“First time in Liverpool and was down by the water front and came upon ‘The Wheel’. Similar to the one in London just not as big or cost too much. Being seniors, our cost was £22.00 for both of us. It was worth it but I suggest to go early and on a Sunday. We went around 4 times and took lots of pictures. I’m sure, if you don’t mind waiting, sunset would probably be the most beautiful time of day! Enjoy some of our photos.”
