“We ordered for delivery, website was easy and the food was delicious. It arrived hot and on the time provided. We all enjoyed the jumbo platter with bread and sauces. Looking forward to eating in.”

“We had our sons christening reception here, the room was big and is laid out perfect for these types of parties. They had an outdoor play area that’s perfect to keep the kids entertained! The staff are so lovely and helpful they even put out jugs of juice for the little ones. The hire was so affordable and the drinks are cheap too! Highly recommend and will 100% be booking here again for our next party! Thank you to all at the waggon!”

“Love this place! Managed to book a table last minute on the Friday evening a 6pm. The food was amazing, as always. Never disappointed. Lovely staff, great service. Had pigeon breast, fried zucchini, olives. The pan fried salmon, with asparagus, poached egg, Jersey royal potatoes & hollandaise sauce was exceptional. There were 4 of us, and also had a risotto, and a chicken burger. No room for desserts! Great cocktails too. Have also been for breakfast and lunch before now! Would highly recommend.”

“We were lucky to have the Homebrew Tap do our drinks catering at our wedding recently and they were a great success. I've been stopping in to the Tap at the end of dog walks for a few years now and they were my first choice when it came to drinks for the wedding. Working with Jarron during the months before made the whole process very straightforward as he has a wealth of knowledge mixed with an honest and friendly professionalism. On the day itself, things couldn't have gone any better. The drink choices were superb and the service was impeccable. We really can't recommend them highly enough both as a catering team and a pub.”

“Very nice and lively place. We went there for dinner and the pasta dishes, made by their sister place Pronto Pasta, were absolutely amazing. Also the Selekt Spiritz made by the bartender of the Venetian was great, true Venice style. Highly recommended.”

“Lovely welcome and easy check in. Our room was gorgeous. Modern, great layout and beautifully cleaned . Large bathroom, big bed, tea, hot chocolate and a cafetiere with proper ground coffee! A comfortable and quiet sleep and a fabulous breakfast included the next morning. Great free parking on site. Set on the river with easy access to river, town and walls. Perfect!”

“Can’t compliment them enough. The food is excellent and the variety is eclectic, from mussels to Chilli. Great pub food at sensible prices and the beer is also priced sensibly. You can sit outside or in but the tables inside do seem to be reserved by regulars which might be a bit off putting when you walk in as you can see a sea of reserved signs! Staff are great and helpful too the sharing platter for starters was excellent. Haven’t tried the desserts but they looked good. Ant understand why people would chose anywhere else in Hoole for lunch”

“I booked 13 rooms at The Pied Bull in Chester for myself and a group of work colleagues, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. The welcome on arrival was warm and genuine, and every member of staff we interacted with was friendly, helpful, and incredibly accommodating (special thanks to the ladies working when I checked in on the evening of the 26/11) The rooms were consistently clean, comfortable, and spacious, with excellent beds and generously sized showers. Everyone in our group commented on how well they slept and how well-maintained the rooms were. The blend of historic character with modern comfort added a special charm that really sets The Pied Bull apart. Breakfast was another standout: high-quality, hearty, and freshly prepared, exactly what we needed to start a busy day. For the standard of accommodation, service, and the central location, the value for money was genuinely impressive. Speaking of location, you couldn’t ask for more and a few of the group said they’d return here if they visit Chester again. Jason”

“Had a couple of drinks in here. Very reasonable in price and friendly service. I'm not a big heavy rock fan but when we went in the music wasn't deafening so quite enjoyed it.”

“Very impressed, it's been a while since I attended a gig in Chester and the live rooms didn't disappoint, sound was great and easy enough to get a spot at the barrier. Only slight criticism is that the lighting over the merch stand meant it was difficult to assess quite how hot pink the t-shirt I was purchasing was, thankfully I was not disappointed when I got it home”

“Everything a British pub should be. Homely and inviting. A picture paints a thousand words. This is somewhere you go to ponder life on your own or have great chat with friends. They intentionally don't play music and they don't offer WiFi.”

“Been for a roast dinner today , had the roast share platter at £42 and I have to say, it was the nicest roast dinner I have ever eaten!! Absolutely worth every penny and plenty left over so could feed 3 possibly. Great service , great wine !”

“Popped in after a delayed journey of 4 hours so not happy. Went in because next door to the hotel, Beers were superb from a brewery we don't see down south. Menu was good, food was excellent quality and would have expected to pay more for. If it wasn't all homemade it certainly tasted like it was. Staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful without being overbearing. So good we didn't bother looking to go elsewhere on our second night in Chester and it was just as good although mysteriously quiet on a Saturday night? So atmosphere different to the Friday but hey, if this pub was 200 miles closer to me id never be out of it. We hope to be back and will make a point of it if in the area.”

“Beautiful food, quick service, as soon as starters were finished plates were cleared and main was ready and served a few minutes later, all staff were happy and cheerful even for coming to end of shifts! Made me and my partner smile hearing a chef happily singing along to the radio clearly enjoying himself and passionate about the food being served being genuinely good, checking in with us about taste. Only popped in on the way past and so glad we did!”
