Pub in Chester

“We needed somewhere close to the waterways museum and this was the perfect spot. The staff in the hotel and the restaurant were great, happy, smiling nothing too much trouble and the meal we had was excellent. Our room on the 3rd floor gave us great views over the canals and museum. I would highly recommend. The only potential problem is what appears to be limited parking, although there was a wedding on when we were there which may have been the cause of the problem.”

“Visited on the 4th May, after spending the day at Oulton Park, we were starving and exhausted after attempting 2 places before that weren't serving food(2 adults 2kids). We arrived here in hope of some good food. When we arrived all staff that crossed our paths were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We were seated straight away handed a menu with friendly talk from staff with the 2 kids. Drinks were quick. We ordered our food, when our food came it was hot and look amazing. All four of our meals were faultless, a great portion size and wasn't much left, our belly's full. We decided on our desserts, they also arrived quickly and again absolutely amazing. Our bill was £100, this was x4 main meals x2 adults and x2 child's, 4 desserts, x2 pints of lager x3 J20s. A very fair price for the quantity of food. We cannot fault anything from start to finish. Places like these are hard to find especially with happy to be there staff, it makes all the difference so everyone that worked that evening well done and thank you for a pleasant visit. We'll be sure to go back when we are in the area again”

“I didnr stay at this hotel but went for dinner with friends and I just wanted to say that having eaten several times at this hotel this was the very best. The main thing was the service. We had a delightful young woman that looked after us she was efficient, knowledgeable,well presented and took our orders with minimum effort. Why cant all waiting on staff be like her. She even listened to my suggestion of a large print menu or magnifier to assist people with poor sight to remain independent whilst out. Having spoken in favour of our waiting on staff I should also say the food was lovely too.”

“Hotel was nice, beds were decent, nice and shower area! There was no fridge in the room even though it’s states that on the website! The food at the bar was delicious, the breakfast bar with the drinks, cereal and pastries was nice and pleasant the cooked breakfast was a big let down! All in all with the nice staff, nice bar and bar food! It was lovely and will stay again”

“My time with Abbey has been so good I’ve decided to extend another year. The house is really well maintained and they have been very responsive when any faults did crop up. Helen, Kaci and Sonia were all fab to deal with in the office. Overall couldn’t recommend enough, and I have made sure my cousin coming to Chester will use them too!”

“Love this place! Managed to book a table last minute on the Friday evening a 6pm. The food was amazing, as always. Never disappointed. Lovely staff, great service. Had pigeon breast, fried zucchini, olives. The pan fried salmon, with asparagus, poached egg, Jersey royal potatoes & hollandaise sauce was exceptional. There were 4 of us, and also had a risotto, and a chicken burger. No room for desserts! Great cocktails too. Have also been for breakfast and lunch before now! Would highly recommend.”

“Been for a roast dinner today , had the roast share platter at £42 and I have to say, it was the nicest roast dinner I have ever eaten!! Absolutely worth every penny and plenty left over so could feed 3 possibly. Great service , great wine !”

“Popped in after a delayed journey of 4 hours so not happy. Went in because next door to the hotel, Beers were superb from a brewery we don't see down south. Menu was good, food was excellent quality and would have expected to pay more for. If it wasn't all homemade it certainly tasted like it was. Staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful without being overbearing. So good we didn't bother looking to go elsewhere on our second night in Chester and it was just as good although mysteriously quiet on a Saturday night? So atmosphere different to the Friday but hey, if this pub was 200 miles closer to me id never be out of it. We hope to be back and will make a point of it if in the area.”

“Beautiful food, quick service, as soon as starters were finished plates were cleared and main was ready and served a few minutes later, all staff were happy and cheerful even for coming to end of shifts! Made me and my partner smile hearing a chef happily singing along to the radio clearly enjoying himself and passionate about the food being served being genuinely good, checking in with us about taste. Only popped in on the way past and so glad we did!”

“1st visit for us today, came away determined to return sometime soon. My wife had the Thai curry which she said was delicious, I had the Fish and Chips. The fish was substantial and delicious, but, the chips were cut too thin with the result that a good number could not be fork eaten and were hard. The portion of chips was also a tad stingy. As mentioned in previous posts the drinks are expensive, I've had cheaper pints in London. But despite this we will be back and in larger numbers I think.”

“As a regular at Neighbourhood for lunch when in Chester , we booked private room for our son and daughter in laws wedding celebration evening. The small annex room was perfect for a small gathering. Service excellent and the small plates menu we had chosen were all freshly prepared to a high standard. Highly recommended.”

“Lovely welcome and easy check in. Our room was gorgeous. Modern, great layout and beautifully cleaned . Large bathroom, big bed, tea, hot chocolate and a cafetiere with proper ground coffee! A comfortable and quiet sleep and a fabulous breakfast included the next morning. Great free parking on site. Set on the river with easy access to river, town and walls. Perfect!”

“Everything a British pub should be. Homely and inviting. A picture paints a thousand words. This is somewhere you go to ponder life on your own or have great chat with friends. They intentionally don't play music and they don't offer WiFi.”

“Great pub! Fantastic prices and lots of different drink options especially gin! All branded and good quality spirits! *doubles bar* - all spirits are served as 50ml as standard. Good bear garden with seating and an undercover area. Pool table, darts board and Duke box. Really warm and welcoming staff and customers. Really close to the train station and also short walk in to chester city centre.”

“Fantastic old-school venue, filled with welcoming staff who deliver excellent customer service. All guests were friendly and cheery making a night to watch England evwn more exciting. Shame about the result but doesn't take away how good this place is. Free buffet at half tome too, excellent”

“Lovely afternoon spent at The Mount Inn. The views are as good as previous reviews have stated. Special mention to the staff who served us on the afternoon of the 24th, who were friendly and efficient. Will be back next time we visit Chester.”
