“Awesome stay here. As an anniversary stay they kindly upgraded to an even more luxury room, which was huge with large windows with a lake view. So that was superb, the bed was equally enormous and super comfy, soft yet firm and supporting. Excellent shower and bathroom with complimentary soaps etc. Kettle and teas etc in room which was nice. Breakfasts was delicious well made and lots of choice. Little bit confusing as we needed to wait to be seated and there are a few entrances to the dining areas. Hardly a complaint though as we were seated quick enough. Walked about the grounds to get a overview of the house. Interesting trees. Didn't seem to be an official way down to the lake, nor a path alongside it when we walked down to it, just brambles. Again not a complaint, just observation.”

My wife was injured on the way to The Bear, and we couldn’t have been met with more kindness and care. The staff went above and beyond, and Tracy was an absolute gem—warm, genuine, and made us feel like we were staying with friends rather than in a hotel. This stay really highlighted the contrast with one of the sister hotels we visited, which lacked the same warmth and charm. It’s our second time at The Bear—we stayed last year, and although my wife was initially hesitant about staying in a pub setting, she ended up loving it so much that it topped her list for this year’s trip. We noticed several subtle improvements since our last visit—small touches that really add up and elevate the overall experience. It’s clear that care and attention to detail are a priority here. If we had one minor complaint, it would be the limited parking, but it’s a small trade-off for such a welcoming and comfortable stay. Top rated—we’d love to return again.”

“Corrine (sorry, I’m not sure if the spelling) and the other staff were so kind and caring when we all came for refreshments after a Thanksgiving service of a dear relative. Corrine was especially good, not ignoring the fact, but saying “sorry for your loss”, and ensuring that we were well looked after. Thank you to all who contributed- from making the food (and the lovely scones) to clearing away afterwards. Your service and kindness made a big difference.”

“Quick night away for our anniversary. The staff was very helpful and extremely gracious. The room was surprising large and very well appointed. The whole place was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We even got a wonderful massage that had us feeling terrific. Already looking for an excuse to go back, highly recommend!”

“Very quiet property, safe and secure and amazing location. My husband and l have been staying for over a month and are really pleased we chose to stay here. Very close to the train station, Sainsbury’s, and the Shopping Centre is just round the corner too. “The staff were very lovely, they worked with a smile on their face which was refreshing. The room was clean, bedding towels, bathroom etc. The heater was easy to work and warmed up the room relatively quickly. The only thing missing was a hairdryer which was disappointing.”

“We made a late reservation, because our plans changed and we needed a place to stay. We made a reservation and got there 2 hours before the check in time, which wasn’t a problem at all. The receptionist, who was really really polite, gave us a room anyways. The room was big and tidy, and it had everything. The bathroom was great as well. The underground station is near, as well as the shop. I’d definitely come here again.”

“The ensuite double bedroom we got for our holidays was humble, but clean and cosy. I was slightly disappointed the kitchen area is under renovation, but there was an electric kettle, fridge, crockery and cutlery in our room, so it was easy enough for us, to prepare some breakfast and light supper. The area is very peaceful, full of exotic shops, 3 minutes walk to Overground ad 7 to Victoria line. We got free tea, coffee, towels, the room was also cleaned during our 6 days stay. I'm very pleased overall, and probably will stay there again.”

“My first time in London and the experience was Excellent and Amazing. The beds and the washrooms were very clean. There is also a morning brrakfast. The staff were very helpful. Ask for Harun, he will guide you on alot of questions you may have. The hotel is literally less than a minute walk to the Seven Kings train station on the Elizabeth line that comes directly to and from Heathrow airport. Easy transportation towards Central London and other places you may need to visit via the tube. Many restaurants and cafes are available nearby, you have plenty of options to choose from. If you are in London and need a safe place to sleep and take a shower, this is the hotel for you.”

“We were very impressed with this hotel. From the entrance we were welcomed by friendly people, very hospitable. The room was nice and clean, and the breakfast was over expectations, a vast amount of delicious food ,served in lovely clean room. The Hosekeeping manager, Gyongyver was very polite and professional, and everyone was "in the right place, at the right time" kind and helpful. We'll be back, surely!”

Shout out to Zoe for making feel at home 3 cost so close to London but so much value for money. 4. Easy to drive to 5 mins from M1 and cheap parking. 5. Very clean and tidy.”

“Great location for Heathrow flights, obviously! Very easy to book, park and relax prior to early flights, the concierge were outstanding. The bar and food were excellent. We were told exactly what was best for our early flight, they gave us timimgs for the Shuttle, which takes 6 minutes to Terminal 5. We will definately be staying there again.”

“Where do I start? Stellar service from start to finish! Clean,warm and comfortable rooms, I wasn’t in a particularly large one, but I was a last minute booking. The ladies who run the operations are superb and very welcoming. The grounds are beautiful and there is also a swimming pool open spring to the end of summer season. It was closed, but it’s beautiful too. Ample parking, a lovely bar and restaurant. I wasn’t the very lucky winner of a slap up vegan English breakfast and whether you’re into that or not, it’s was delicious. Never been to a hotel in southern UK that’s staff have as much charm and character as the beautiful listed building they manage and maintain. Will be back and my service dog (who was being a rude diva) was even given her own vegan breakfast ♥️ I will return again and again when I am in Surrey. That’s the place to stay for sure! Thank you all at Box Hill for turning my frown upside down!”

“Nice, big and smart Next store located on the Purley way. As the store is of good size. Has sofa, lighting, tables, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom departments. The store is very well stocked and tidy. Also very useful as Click and collect Online shopping can be collected from here using the touch screen monitor. Plenty of parking available. Recommend to go after 7pm weekday as traffic in Purley is a nightmare.”
