“Lovely, small hotel. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. Nice pub too, Excellent breakfast. We stayed one night for the standedge tunnel canoe trip. Stayed here on Friday night and then the owner gave us a lift to marsden on sat morning to join the canoe trip. Diggle end of the tunnel is 200m from the hotel. Recommended.”

“The recption staff were extremely professional & welcoming. We especially enjoyed our evening in the Filament lounge where the staff again were attentive & friendly, especially Migel & Anandhu. The food was excellent & even took into account personal choice in regards to additional spice. 10/10”

She was incredibly kind, polite, and always went out of her way to help — nothing was ever too much trouble. “Kirstie is a god send. Our pup is under her care for one day every week and he absolutely loves going. We have sent him to other day cares before and he didn't react well to going back, but he gets excited to arrive at Hotel 4 Hounds (which says a lot). He has slept over on numerous occasions and we always receive updates, photos and videos of how he is. We totally trust that our pup is being well looked after and couldn't recommend more!”

“My Dog had an amazing time here, lovely big secure open space in a very secure field. The Trainers are amazing, they know there stuff, my dog is such a calm boy now. There are so many opportunities to choose from Shows, fun days, photography shoots, events, professional trainer that come to the farm, social walks, group training sessions at all levels and agility, hoopers etc the list goes on and on. Well worth a visit”

“Took our 13 week old maltipoo Teddy to Victoria at Short Bark and Sides today for his first puppy groom. Chose this place over others as a friend at work recommended it and i wasn’t disappointed! Victoria was lovely and so reassuring, explaining the process and ensuring Teddy felt safe with her. She also took some fab photos for us and we left with him looking gorgeous and smelling fab :) Thanks so much, looking forward to our next visit!”

“Just picked our black labrador Luna up from Mike and the girls and it's honestly the first time she hasn't wanted to come home. She has absolutely loved every second of it there, Mike sent me numerous photos throughout our week long holiday, which really put our mind at ease. I can honestly say I won't leave her with anyone else from now on, she's made lots of new friends and by the looks of it has had the time of her life! Will definitely be recommending these guys to anyone I know looking for a place for their dog to stay (I would say kennels but this is more like a 5* luxury apartment).”

“Google did not hear my search for the Gait in correctly and directed me to this by mistake. I did not attend but Google assumed that I had and listed my review for the Gait inn at Millington I'm error. So this is to correct it. No fault of the Gate which I will attend next time I am in their location. I'm sure it's fine but I only post about my experience not Google errors.”

“We had the best camping trip for two nights, toilets and showers were clean and the showers were nice and hot. With gorgeous views, it really was very relaxing where the children had full use of the open field. The owners were helpful and once checked in, we were left to our own devices. There's pubs and parks all within a 5 minute drive away and a big tesco round the corner too. It is just a shame you can't have camp fires as that would have made the evenings that bit better with smores. But regardless we would still definitely revisit again. Thank you for a lovely stay!”

“Had a lovely stay including dinner and breakfast. Food was great, we had the roast dinner which was fantastic value for money at £13.95 a head. Breakfast had a good selection of hot food at the buffet. My only, very personal, preference would have been to have more egg options as I didn’t fancy the scrambled eggs and there wasn’t any other option but the rest was delicious and plentiful. Lastly, but definitely not least were the friendly, helpful staff who really made us feel welcome and valued. Highly recommend the Boat & Horses hotel too as the rooms are big, well appointed and the beds really, really comfy. Well worth a stop off.”

“The cottage is much above the standard. Very clear and tidy. The owner is very kind and helpful. The area is stanning. Lots of beautiful walking and hiking routes around. And the nearby villages are lovely. Highly recommended!”
