“OMG ... best and biggest steak sandwich ever. Perfectly cooked steak which was top quality. Will be back for the fry one day!”
“Haven't been here in years . Was a lovely return visit I will definitely be back”
“Absolutely fantastic spot, great food, lovely setting and the staff were class craic. Totally recommend.”
“What a cracker! Decided to stop in for lunch. Really friendly staff and great food. I can recommend the pork ribs genuine Irish pub. The Guinness is good and the food comes out quick. I’m not sure if there’s any outdoor season but the inside is where the magic is at anyway.”
“Had cod with smoky tomato butter beans and side dish of mixed veg. Really delicious and different. Lovely and efficient staff. Nice relaxed atmosphere and busy, especially as it was a Monday. Dogs can be brought into the bar. Recommend. Did not stay overnight.”
“was in this place for first time recently and have to say one of the nicest meals ive had in newry and responsibly priced... will 100% return and recommend”
“Incredible place! A lot of options of food and drinks, reasonable price, staff extremely attentive and friendly! Inside decoration super nice! Will definitely come back”
“If you're in close proximity, I'd definitely suggest stopping here. The river next to the restaurant enhances the atmosphere. I also like the contrast between the brick and rusty looking iron that really brings that steampunky vibe. The only problem I have is that the music doesn't fit the theme too well, but that's not too bad . The waiters are kind and the service is great! And then to the most important part:"the food" I really enjoyed the dishes here. I took the Korean fried chicken burger, which was absolutely amazing, but the taste can be a bit overwhelming (in a good way), so if you're a bit sensitive to flavour, I'd suggest to take the gnocchi wich was also extremely good. And the cajun chicken salade was also really, really good. So all in all this place is amazing and I truly recommend it!!”
“Excellent food and excellent service. We had the large portion of brisket (absolutely delicious and our favorite), the small portion of ribs (good but not great (I thought the sauce was just okay. Though in all fairness my friend liked these second best.), the small portion of duck (delicious. My second favorite) , and the sweet potato fries. We finished off the meal with a Sticky Toffee Pudding with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream (WOW !!!). The server said they recommend two small items per person. We had one large, two small and a side. It was actually too much. I would recommend three smalls or one large and one small for two people. I would highly recommend eating at Art Bar Funkel.”
“Good selection of plant-based dishes (4/5 Green Stars) Camile Thai was started by Brody Sweeney, who had previously founded O’Brien’s Irish Sandwich bars. Apparently there are 45 branches of Camile Thai around Ireland, the UK, and even the US. A lot of business comes from delivery and take away orders – this branch had many order pick-ups but we were the only diners eating in. Apparently the Oranmore (Galway) branch conducted a trial of food delivery by drone to save on delivery costs and carbon footprint. Three things are immediately eye-catching upon looking at the menu: 1. Compostable packaging for take-out or delivery food 2. Each dish is graded for carbon footprint 3. Plenty of vegan and vegetarian options There are some inconsistencies with some of the carbon footprint grades on the printed menu versus the online version that need to be fixed. For example, edamame received a D grade on the printed menu and an A on the online version. But in general these grades are helpful. As a general rule, the vegan / vegetarian dishes are graded A, while dishes containing chicken usually get a B, duck or prawn dishes are graded C and beef dishes are graded E. A more accurate version of this would be A for veggie, D for chicken, E for duck and prawn and F for beef – especially if other environmental factors such as land and water use were also taken into account. I found that even if dishes are listed with a meat component, they can probably make a vegetarian or vegan version. I was interested to try the Singapore Noodles and they were able to make it with vegan chicken instead of real chicken. We both enjoyed our dishes and I’ll definitely plan to return to try more. Staff members were friendly and the restaurant is very clean. I’m giving Camile 4.5 out of 5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, for these reasons: • Many vegan and vegetarian options. Adopting a plant-based diet is the top thing you can do to mitigate climate change and deforestation, besides avoiding animal cruelty and the negative impact of the meat industry on society. • The idea of grading each dish for carbon footprint is a very nice idea, helping customers to bear the planet in mind when ordering. • It’s also an interesting experiment to give people a choice – you can have the same dish with different proteins (tofu or vegan chicken, chicken, duck, shrimp or beef) with an increasingly large carbon footprint. But wouldn’t it be even better to not offer beef at all? • Compostable containers for food ordered for delivery or to take away is also a big plus. • Camile has also launched a trial (in collaboration with Vytal Ireland) of reusable packaging for food ordered from the Pearse St. (Dublin) branch – containers can be returned to the branch within two weeks. • Beer is available in bottles – it’s a pity they don’t do draft beer (less packaging) but I guess there’s not enough demand for it. • Camile collaborated with Open Hive to increase the Irish Black Honeybee population. • Restaurant ops have recipes and admin policies that reduce food waste to 1% in Camile kitchens. Food waste is responsible for a large chunk of our global CO2 emissions.”
“Good service and food except for the chips, dry bland taste which no amount of salt could save. They were good enough to take them off the bill. Social distance and cleanup good. Pricing reasonable. Good atmosphere.”
“As always the food was excellent. Since lockdown it is now takeaway only. Very busy so you need to order at least 30 minutes before you want it.”
“Ordered the chicken box with chips , class. Brilliant delivery. Best takeaway in Dundalk.”
“Amazing food and great value for money. Would highly recommend! Best food in Drogheda.”
“Great place for a decent meal. Breakfast, lunch or dinner. Very reasonably priced for some huge portion sizes.. Friendly staff.”
“If you’re looking for the best takeaway fish and chips you’ve ever had, look no further! The fish bites are AMAZING!!! Do not miss this jewel of a place when you are visiting Newcastle.”
“All round a fabulous place. We had it all there. From mornings just for fresh scone and excellent coffee, a treat trip with young ones for a great selection of traybakes and other sweets. Midweek lunch dates with their specials menu that include excellent salads or hearty stews/soups and sandwiches. We love coming and so will you. Service is always excellent and so is the buzzing atmosphere.”
“So many amazing memories here. We’ve stayed in the apartments for over a month a few summers in a row. Love the restaurant. Love the staff. They actually supplied the drinks for our wedding. Just so many amazing people. The foods great. Located right in the heart of town. Very affordable.”
“I was only getting a coffee until I saw the pastries!! I thought they were genetically modified!! The croissants were huge and gorgeous.”
“Oh my god what a mouthwatering burger!!! We got the chefs burger meal and it was so tasty with a massive onion ring and pulled pork on the juicy beef burger. The chunky chips in the sauce was just delish too. Enjoyed every last bite. We will definitely be back to try more on the menu”

“We've been visiting L'Experience for around 20 years. Food is always excellent, great service and a good atmosphere. French onion soup and fillet steak never disappoint! A favourite with our group, highly recommended.”
“Such a lovely tranquil place. The sense of being able to just relax. My first visit. Sat outside, table service and looking out at a peaceful, amazing and unspoiled view of the Mournes. Homely but very professional. A pleasant surprise for me as I don't live that far away. The owners should be very proud of that haven....”
“Lovely food. Long wait on Sunday nights but it’s so worth it.definitely recommend.”
“It was really nice so nice had a large chip three sausages and spring rolls 5 stars from me”
“Would recommend 100% We were staying at Greenhill YMCA in Newcastle with a youth group. They gave us advice on how many pizzas for 35 people and we ordered 16 12inch pizzas. Great value for money. They were mixed, pepperoni and cheese. The pizzas were delivered to us, on time and hot. The kids and adults enjoyed every bite. Excellent service. Owner and staff go above and beyond 5 ☆”
“We were absolutely blown away with both the quality of food and the service. Absolutely beautiful inside, lovely ambiance, and the biggest selection of vegetarian and vegan food I’ve seen in Ireland. A big thank you to Kevin for such great service, and we’ve heard nothing but good things about Brian and his team or chefs in the kitchen. Thank you, we will be back!”
