“Was served by Macey tonight, what an absolute brilliant evening. She made me and my group feel welcome. Good place for a pint and brilliant service!”
“Michelin star pie!! Tuesday special! Last tuesday the city was all jammed up and I had to sort of abandon my car in the car park of the Black Horse. Patrons only, obviously and in desperate need of both a bit of dinner and a bit of natural respite, I stopped in. I was in a bit of a flap, rush hour traffic has a way of really aggravating me, and I was tired and hungry (hangry they call it) and the gigantic barman was incredibly patient and recommended a special that would go on to change my life. Pie & a pint. PIE and A PINT Lets start by saying that the atmosphere of the Black Horse could be described as 'a warm hubub' even at about half five of a Tuesday evening and there were quite a few tables taken already with people enjoying their dinner. Now, you may think that pie and a pint is pretty standard pub fayre, and you'd be right, it's probably one of the most familiar dishes on menus across Britain ad, as someone who spent decades of his life travelling with work, I have sampled more than my fair share (my PR will attest to this). So when the pie arrived, all golden pastry, steamy mash and silky liquor-like gravy, I KNEW I was in for something special. This, folks, is the best ever pub pie I've ever had, ever. And it's not even close. Now that may sound like a bold statement, so here's another. The beef and Stilton pie with its leeks, mash and incredible gravy could actually be the foundation of world peace. It meta in the mouth in such a way that you can't help but smile from ear to ear. It's like a song of comfort food at your favourite festival, it's a blanket and a warm bed listening to the raindrops drum against the window. It's simply sensational and, all words and comparisons aside, there is nothing that can truly attest to how good this pie is. I waited all week to post about it because you, dear reader, could well be making plans for tomorrow and please believe me when I say that if those plans are for a pie and a pint at the Black Horse on Earlham road in Norwich, then your mouth will love you for the rest of your life.”
“Mega Roast all proper ‘home cooked’ food and plenty of it. Staff were friendly and smiley even when rushed off their feet. Nice beer garden for those sunny days. Even when busy or live music on its a spacious pub so you can still hear ya mates talk…unfortunately ;)”
“Easy walk from the city centre. Large comfortable rooms. Limited menu, tasty OK for a few days. Friendly staff.”
“We Moored up with the boat at the Lion was a great first stop. The pub was great with real ales and ciders. Ut was really full but we managed to get a seat outside. I'm glad we did I had ham egg and chips. A simple meal were mistakes can be made. I would recommend, lovely place”
“Stones throw from Womack Staithe where I was moored. Great food, quick service. What more can you ask for?”
“What a panto! Five of us attended on opening night. This had all the traditional elements of a good family panto with enough enuendo to satisfy those of us more senior in years too. Well worth a visit. Don't miss it.”

“Had a breakfast with a group of railway volunteers. Food was quickly served as we pre booked our choices. Love the railwayania. Trains regularly pass through the station.”
“Lovely gem of a restaurant. We stopped at The Boars by chance while looking for somewhere to eat. We arrived late on Saturday afternoon so there was barely anyone. The food we ordered was very nicely presented and tasted delicious. I would highly recommend it.”
“Delicious food here. Great value for money. The staff are also really friendly. A great pub in Wymondham.”
“Lovely coffee shop, great value and food. Sausage rolls to die for. So good had to pig out and reorder”
“Café doesn’t quite seem enough to describe this place … it may not be a restaurant technically, but the quality of food and how helpful and friendly the staff are makes this my favourite place to eat in Diss”
“Very nice staff, good beer and interesting place”
“Really enjoyed coming here. Excellent service. Tasty food. They crossed out /ticked items my son would be able to eat on the menu (he has an allergy) so it was easy and clear to see what he could have. Would definitely go back!”
“Lovely, friendly cafe with a super breakfast menu. And the pasties for lunch looked delicious!,”
“nice place, delicious tea latte, nice dishes and the atmosphere itself. the coffee shop is located on a busy street, but you feel calm inside”
“A wonderful place where I always like to come back to drink my favorite coffee in peace. There are no electronic boards, which also allows you to enjoy your favorite coffee in peace. Wonderful peace in contrast to many other places.”
“Moored up in a hire cruiser about half a mile away and had a walk down with friends and the dogs. We managed to get seated outside which was perfect as the weather was glorious. Full English breakfasts all round. Absolutely delicious and at £11.95 I'd say bang on the average pricing. Top quality ingredients served on a nice hot plate, which is always a lovely touch. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely be calling in again.”
“We popped in on a Sunday morning after a couple of nights away just north of Norwich. Dixies is a haven for anyone who wants nicely cooked traditional cafe fare. 3 choices of breakfast size plus veggie, and a great selection of lunchtime meals. There are also daily specials during the week, and crumble or pie offered as well. We had breakfast which is great value and cooked really well - choice of toasted or fried bread, and black pudding available to add for a quid. Also a good selection of smaller plates and kids dinners as well. Dixies also takes card payment which is useful if you've not got cash on you. Really worth a visit, you won't go wrong.”
“Nice inn, the beds were comfortable, the rooms with all 21st century appliances had a little "Jane Austen times" look. The Full English breakfast was great and the staff very friendly.”
“After extensive drinking eating and so on at various pubs around this perfidious Albion of ours I would say with some experience that this place is just the absolute business, the little village of heydon is just the loveliest setting , on holiday this week we as ever visited the Earle arms for our umpteenth anniversary and the staff had put us next to a gorgeous open fire and laid felt hearts on our table, we had a lovely meal which was as ever to die for. We liked so much we booked again for the next night and to hell with the expense. Try it you won’t be disappointed and if you are of the easily disappointed type stay at home and polish your toilet amd hoover your cat, but leave this lovely place to those of us who appreciate and recognise perfection when we see it . Top marks and thanks atmospheric”
“Just had another amazing meal at Delia's, no restaurant matches the food with the attention by the front of house staff. Cannot find another that gives this this welcome and attention to service, will be very much missed when Delia's closes - wishing all the staff the very best for the future.”
“Nice pub with a good beer selection, pleasant garden and decent little darts area to boot.”
“Really great venue with both traditional pub values and a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The live music is always excellent and equally it’s a nice place to go for a catch up with friends over a few drinks :-) Fantastic selection too!”
“Food was amazing so flavourful, initially the portions look small don’t let it deceive you was very filling. Cocktails (pistachios) was amazing, would come again for food or drink only. Great service also.”
“Very enjoyable meal. Late booking but seemed to be plenty of room which was surprising for a Friday night. Interesting concept where you can design your own meal by combining pasta, sauce and toppings. Lots of other great options on the menu and specials board too. Good value, friendly staff and cosy too.”
“Honestly was the best roast me and my partner have ever had! Portion sizes are really good and price is amazing for the quality of a roast you get. The staff were so friendly and service was quick! Such a lovely vibe. We have already organised to come back with family and have recommended to everyone we know!”
“First time coming to this pub and it was such a surprise! Lovely friendly staff, really nice decor and spaces, and the food was divine! We were so impressed!”
“23 Broadland MGOC members held their July club meeting at the Harte accompanied by an excellent meal. Service was excellent.”
