“We went to celebrate a special anniversary- a group of 12. Waitresses were lovely and took our orders quickly. Everyone in the group had a different meal and they all came out in a reasonable time and looked delicious. The whole family agreed that it was the best meal out they’d had in a while. If we ever come back to Great Yarmouth I’ll definitely be coming here to eat.”
“Extremely comfortable well appointed room, done to a high standard. Unfortunately the bar & restaurant was closed due to it been a Monday. So made do with excellent biscuits in the room. The breakfast next day was very nice and the staff were friendly and helpful. A quiet out of the way hotel with superb rooms, well worth a stay,”
“Spending an unplanned day in Norwich I fancied an English style restaurant lunch. Bishop’s was the first one I found among the huge range of international options. I used the online booking system but this failed to get through to the restaurant. However, there was no drama and we were seated without any delay. The service from the owner was first class as was the 3-course set lunch menu. Each dish was special and I picked up a few new ideas to try myself at home. A great experience and the set menu was excellent value for money.”
“Awesome family run business. Very welcoming from the moment I stepped in. The food was excellent and very reasonable priced, all made traditionally over charcoal which gives it that authentic taste. The staff were very attentive and very hospitable. Big shout out to Ibrahim! I wish this business and this family all the best. Support your local independent businesses!”
“Brilliant food, typical to Mark Gee and his ways. Flat Iron steak, truffle and Parmesan fries - chefs kiss. Prawn starter with garlic, also delicious.”
“The workshop cafe is an absolute treat, I’d almost go as far as saying the best place to eat in Norwich. The small dishes are delicious, flavoursome and healthy. I love that it’s focussed on a breakfast/lunch/afternoon vibe rather than selling out for evening dinners. It’s decor is vivacious, relaxed and a little bohemian. Great to see you back in full flow after the pandemic. Thanks!”
“5 stars all round. A fantastic place to eat. The quality of food is excellent, the service is great, as is the atmosphere. The portion sizes are good and the price is very fair for the quality. We will go back again and again. We were very impressed and would recommend.”
“I only had the burger, but it was exceptional, and the waitress was very nice too. She explained that tonight's was a simple menu because the service coincided with a pub quiz in the Roseberry, but I would be keen to try their more elaborate offerings on another night.”
“Wow! What a venue!!! We had our wedding here and I couldn't recommend it more. From start to finish, all the staff exceeded any expectations and couldn't do enough for you. It's a stunning venue, lots of room for dancing and a beautiful outdoor space with veranda which is perfect for photos. They helped us every step of the way and went out of their way to make sure it was just perfect. They let us drop decor off the day before and even set it all up perfectly so we could relax in the morning. Food was amazing, generous portions and the rooms are lovely. All our guests commented on how amazing the venue is and moreover the staff - they are such a credit to the place! Couldn't recommend more Thank you Beckiee and team - you are all superstars !!!!”
“What a wonderful place. Best restaurant in North Norfolk. We had Crab cake and Lamb Kofta to start. Both were light and flavoursome. We then had the Hake on roasted Mediterranean veg and Sea Bass with its, samphire and dill sauce. As it was so good we had to try the sticky toffee pud and rhubarb crème brûlée. Wonderful. Nice bottle of Aix Provençal rose washed it down nicely.”
“First day of a 3 days away They were v busy but we were able to get a table outside, we had a drink and the food arrived well before the estimated hours wait . Food was excellent, the belly pork was the most tender I've ever eaten and the tofu delicious. Well recommended, and we'll be back on our next trip”
“Perfect food, amazing service! A very relaxed atmosphere, you can see why everyone refers you here!”
“We had an amazing ploughman’s lunch today. The bread was homemade as was the coleslaw. The onions were pickled in balsamic vinegar which were delicious. I had a lovely local cheese and my husband had a local ham. The butter was free a local farm. Well worth the money. Also a very friendly pub. Very well done.”
“Great vendor That's a Wrap Norwich at the Bush this Sunday, plus great river views and gardens, friendly staff and lots of indoor and outdoor seating”
“Just had a lovely meal here. Satay to share - wow, delicious. Then chicken Phad Thai and the Cod in black pepper. Quirky place with a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend;)”
“I went while on holiday October 2025. I chose it due to the fact it was rated highly by the locals. We were not disappointed. The roast dinners are fab. Good luck if you think you can get through the larger of the 2 choices. My wife had the small, and needed help. I had a burger and it was superb, texture and quality and flavour all out of this world. If we go to anywhere in Norfolk again we'll make this one of our treats for the week. Worth travelling to.”
“This is an absolute gem of a pub. The food was delicious, the staff were very friendly and accommodating despite us having to change the booking twice. The desserts were especially good. It is also in a gorgeous location, we will return again in future.”
“Wonderful pub in a beautiful setting serving fantastic food. It’s run by people who really care and want you to have a lovely time. It’s also dog-friendly, with a cozy bar and a delightful B&B. An all-round classy place and highly recommended.”
“Wow, what an absolutely delicious dinner - my partner and I both had the venison pie and it was truly memorable. The pub itself is v warm and smart and the staff were lovely and welcoming. Very much hope to return.”
“Perfect place as a base for visiting our daughter in Norwich. Room was fantastic and the shower was great too. My concerns about noise from the car park was unfounded, no problems at all. The cooked breakfast was fantastic, we will be coming back!”
“We had our wedding here! Such a lovely charming place, and James and the event staff were very accommodating to us for our big day. I would highly recommend it as a wedding venue. The buffet was really good and well received (with a lot of extra food for guests to take home!).”
“From the moment i arrived for my leaving due at The Plough Inn, it was clear i was in for something special. The ambiance struck the perfect balance between cozy and refined, setting the tone for an unforgettable dining experience. I started with the crispy whitebait, which was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection—light, crispy, and packed with flavor. It was an excellent start that left me excited for what was to come. For the main course, the Wagyu burger truly stole the show. Juicy, rich, and bursting beautiful flavours it was easily one of the best burgers I’ve had. The attention to detail in the plating matched the quality of the ingredients, making it as visually appealing as it was delicious. A special mention must go to Christine, She was not only professional but also warm and attentive, ensuring the night flowed seamlessly. Her thoughtful service added a personal touch that elevated the entire experience. In short, The Plough Inn delivered on every front—taste, presentation, service, and atmosphere. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit.”
“Really can't fault it easy to book and they really looked sfter our party of 11 people. Friendly staff in an atmosphetic old cinema. This is the 3rd time we have used it for a staff night out . Plenty of food and all dietry requirements covered. Great evening thank you guy's.”
“Had a lovely lunch here and tried the venison which is from the estate. The food quality was great, as was the service but the whole vibe with the fire and decor is what makes this place! It’s a lovely atmosphere and the definition of cosy. I highly recommend if in the area ❤️”
“Stopped for a drink and the menu looked nice so ended up having a starter! Nice place with a nice view if you sit out the front - can watch the world go by. Friendly staff and served fast at the bar for drinks - table service for food. I had pineapple juice which I am glad was sunpride - only the best !”
“My review is for the pub & restaurant side which is so good. Very well set out with great outdoor seating and lovely areas inside too. If it’s just for a drink or for some of the truly amazing food on offer you won’t be dissapointed. The ribs are best around no lie! Fresh crab salad was gorgeous too. Great selection of drinks make this a must stop.”
“Fabulous pub within easy reach of Norwich Thorpe Railway Station. Excellent choice of well kept real ales. Atmospheric interior with numerous retro beer related items on display.”
“We had a gorgeous Sunday roast trying the pork and chicken - excellent food, amazing service, very, very loud. Food - The food was excellent, I've had a great many roasts in my time and this was one of the best, as you can see in the video the pork pulled apart with a fork and it was so juicy, the chicken came as a supreme and was very generous, the only thing worth mentioning as a negative is there was such a variety of veg that the portions of each felt mean (that's subjective and barely worth mentioning) Service - Fantastic all the way, ordering is split between food and drinks, food is ordered at the table and drinks are ordered at the bar. The server took our order really quick and the food came out very fast. They were attentive but not intrusive, A+. Drink service was swift and professional, we had soft drinks and after I had ordered they were brought straight to the table, again, this was swift. A service charge is added to the bill. Atmosphere - The bar itself is aesthetically pleasing with a reclaimed, hipsterish vibe. It's a massive open space with the bar in the centre and this is where the issues begin. It's loud, aggressively loud, I couldn't hear my partner or the staff at all and given the complete lack of soft furnishings every sound echoes around and around. As someone with sensory issues I struggled. The seating and tables are mismatched which is cute but I barely managed to get my legs under the table as the seats were too tall, the tables are also packed in close and I spent half my meal with my back touching the person behind me. There is a soft seating area at the back of the bar which I didn't see until I had already eaten, it's a much quieter and more comfortable area and I really wish I had seen it earlier. To be clear it's pretty and if you're into the whole community eating, cacophony thing, it's a good atmosphere. Accessibility - Poor, it's very tight, you won't get a wheelchair through it, it's loud so bad for people with sensory issues, there's no parking lot so you take your chances on the very tight streets outside and you'll struggle to order drinks as there are tables surrounding the bar.”
“Delicious food and happy to see a place that hospitality still exist ! They been really attentive to us as we had a ‘in the window’ table ! I can totally recommend!”
“Loved this pub. Right on the river what a magnificent setting. The Sunday lunch was tasty and big, no corners cut. So relaxing watching the boats go by and our dog enjoyed it too paddling in the overspill from the river Highly recommended”
