“Beautiful park to walk around. Plenty of green spaces, amazing views of the lake, fishing plots available, pick nick areas.”
“Lovely park, accessible for all. Family and dog friendly. Lovely long walk along the river and there is a cute cafe as well. Perfect for a picnic as well! Definitely recommend. What I would say is be careful of seagulls because there are a few rogue ones but 99% of the time you fine”
“Lots of avian wildlife along this stretch of The Thames. There are plenty of benches to sit on and watch the world go by, as well as extensive lawn areas on which to sunbathe or have picnics in the summer. There's a children's paddling pool and playground. Tennis courts. Public conveniences. Some lovely trees, especially a line of Lombardy poplars, which can be seen on the edge of the eastern boundary. The pedestrian bridge is a worthy addition to the Meadows. There's a nice area right by the end of Wolsey Road where you can sit on benches and watch the boats. There are a lot of bird families on that stretch of the river. They enjoy the floating bird seed, which can be conveniently bought at Homecrafts, the brilliant hardware store in Prospect Street. Christchurch Meadows is a charming, tranquil area to spend time in. The birdlife is wonderful. When I was seriously ill in the hospital, I daydreamed of being here. It's an idyll, a piece of paradise, and I love it.”
“The big slide is closed due to repairs. Nice but small park without the big slide. There's a duck feeder vending machine in the entrance. You get a handful of pellets to feed ducks. The walk along the river is beautiful, it leads to Locks.”
“Did a pre-Christmas inflatable swim on 21 Dec 24. At £3 per head excellent value, the assault course was great for the age range (6-12), facilities clean and staff really friendly. Will absolutely go again.”
“Excellent hosts and great activities”
“Excellent sporting facilities. Very friendly and a good range of classes and activities.”
“California Country Park is a true gem. Nestled in 100 acres of rich woodland and heathland, it offers a wonderful blend of natural beauty and well-thought-out family facilities that make it a standout choice. A Beautiful Place for a Walk The park's landscape is its main attraction. The central feature is the stunning Longmoor Lake, around which a gentle, accessible path of just under a mile provides a beautiful and easy walk for all ages and abilities. The route is perfect for pushchairs and offers lovely views across the water, where you can spot swans, ducks, and other birdlife. For those wanting a longer stroll, the 2.2-mile Woodland Walk takes you through ancient woodland and across a boardwalk over Longmoor Bog, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). This trail feels like a real escape into nature, with rare mosses and plants creating a serene atmosphere. Excellent for Kids & Family Time This is where the park truly shines for families. The adventure play area is fantastic, modern, and engaging. It's split into two main sections: * The Sensory Garden: Aimed at younger children, this area features creative water play sections, a colourful pirate ship, musical chimes, and gentle climbing frames. * The Wild Wood: Designed for older, more adventurous kids, this part includes a fantastic large wooden treehouse, climbing structures, a zip line, and swings. During the warmer months, the paddling pool is an enormous hit (booking is usually required). With ample space for picnics and Jacksons Café on-site offering delicious food and drinks with a view of the lake, you can comfortably spend the entire day here. Relaxed Family Fishing For those looking to introduce their kids to fishing, Longmoor Lake is ideal. It is a well-stocked coarse fishery, offering a relaxed and picturesque environment. You can expect to catch species like roach, perch, tench, and even some good-sized carp and pike. It’s perfect for pleasure fishing from one of the 33 designated swims.”
“Great place to host events. With a nice kitchen.”
“Great sports hall with two full size basketball courts and a wooden floor. Plenty of parking outside of school hours. Changing rooms not too bad considering it is on school grounds but maybe they don't use them.”
“Good place to do some exercise. They’ve updated the skate park recently and looks like it others more inclusivity for people. Basketball hoops are really nice and also clean there. Decent parking and good for waking your dog as well.”
“My son had a fantastic time today at Lagoona Park. He had lots of fun on the floats. The lifeguards and other staff were very friendly. The place was very clean. There were lots of sitting areas for customers. Wonderful place. We spent the afternoon sitting outside with our picnic. We had a fabulous time.”
“Lots of improvements have happened since I was last here, the lake and surrounding area is looking great, worth a visit, sit a while and enjoy the park”
“Nice cafe, very friendly people. Good for children”
“Ny kids have the most enjoyable time at this soft play the manager always welcomes us with the kindest warmest smile. The soft play is so clean. Whilst my children enjoy a run around I always enjoy my hot beverages and jacket potato made by Tracey she’s so friendly and one of the reasons I always find myself coming back to this soft play”
“Recently joined the Gym here, and was very impressed overall by gym facilities and staff. In particular shoutout to Blake who sorted me out my membership, being very professional and polite including a tour of the whole site and everything would need to know. So happy with the place that I got my wife to sign up as well a few weeks later, who was also recieved good customer service by Blake! Top chap working in a top site.”
“This is an excellent small local gym. Good facilities for the size and very clean - COVID precautions are taken seriously here. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the online booking app works well. Not a pretentious place so there's a good mix of customers using the gym from young fit people through to older people who have not been to a gym in years. Everyone is made welcome and nobody judges which is great. Definitely worth a look if you are local to the area.”
“A joyful end-of-year celebration at Chineham Splash Park! We visited Chineham Splash Park today to mark the end of the academic year, and it was the perfect setting for children to have fun and unwind. The weather was just right—warm enough to enjoy the water without the intense heat of the sun. Overall, Chineham Splash Park is not just a fun day out for children—it’s a reminder of how vibrant and supportive a community can be. Highly recommended for families looking for connection, play, and joy.”
“Excellent 90 minutes of fun. The venue is modern and clean. The slides are speedy, the pool itself nice and warm. A bit pricey, but a great family treat!”
“I love going to St Crispins Leisure centre. Reception staff are super fantastic. Nothing ever is too much trouble. Instructors are extremely professional and you get so much put from classes. Location and convenience, car parking is super convenient. Dave has helped me to understand some of the issues I had over the years with losing extra pounds; he is an asset to the centre. Classes, times are excellent for so many of us. 10 out of 10.”
“Friendly gym and instructors, always willing to answer questions. Yes it's not all bright lights and ultra shinny new equipment, but weights lift, equipment moves and get the chance to sit in the steam room after! I'm currently PTing with MONIQUE SIMONS after asking which PT might be best for my let's say challenging aray of issues. I asked for hard core and push my limits and after a couple of sessions geting to know me and my bodies limitations - Monique knocked it out of the park today for me! Yeah to sledges, battle ropes and slam balls ! oh and TRX ideas I'd never known existed!!”
“Great place for a child's birthday party. We got half the sports hall, and they threw in a bouncy castle, a bouncy climbing thing and something else, chairs and tables were already set up. It's a big space that will accommodate a lot of kids. There's a small cafe for tea and coffee for adults. Great place!”
“Fantastic field for kids to play, dogs to be walked, as well as exercise. There's a playpark for the younger ones. No parking provided but lots of side streets.”
“Signed up to Mo's classes few fees before the holidays - to get some basic knowledge as to how to handle 6 months old in the water. The experience exceeded my expectations - Mo is very practical, focused and guides through every step of the training. He was also accommodating to all the requests we made, the customer experience I always appreciate.”
“Fantastic community run pool, with sessions and class for everyone. Generations of Overton kids have learnt to swim here. It's a real jewel, and a credit to all the hardworking volunteers.”
“This has been perfect for me to attend morning swimming, with family and work I only have 2 mornings a week (at 6am starts) to swim. my family also enjoyed toddler swim as the deep end was raised to be very shallow.”
