“This was a long awaited visit. Booking is restricted, but on the day we had freedom to explore the house for as long as we wished. This is an amazing time capsule, I recommend it to anyone interested in social history. The greenhouse was a particular treat.”

“My daughter and I had afternoon tea here yesterday. It was really nice. The food was fresh. Good selection of items for afternoon tea. Beautiful Teashop and lovely staff. The owner was very nice and accommodating. They also do theme nights, which I'm sure we shall be back to join. The menu was great for other occasions. Breakfasts and lunches, or a drink and a snack. The shop itself was decorated lovely, with indoor and outdoor seating. Dogs were also welcome. Set in lovely surroundings in a park. We will definitely go again.”

“Wow! To be honest this was an impromptu visit on the last night of our stay in the lovely Tideswell, and it’s a gem! Phoned up and Sal fitted us in on a table that was booked from 7:30pm… no problem. We took our own alcohol as advised by him on the phone. I had a Calzone and my wife one of the chicken specials. I finished my calzone which was so so delicious and so rare for me to do so. Two completely clean plates. The atmosphere was lovely and to be honest the sheer openness and friendliness of the front of house was amazing. It’s a shame we found this gem on our last night.”

“If you would like a gluten free flat bread (injera), you need to book the day before. This came as a much darker bread, made of just teff flour which is naturally gluten free. The lighter colour breads they normally serve are made of a mixture of teff and also wheat flour. See photos. The staff on the phone and in person were very friendly and helpful, but limited English language ability meant it was a challenge to establish whether they could cater for gluten free. But they could.”
