“So for years I’ve been recommending this place as a ‘go to’ for pretty much everything… a relaxed evening with some cocktails on the terrace, light lunch through the day or a meal in the evening for occasions- anyone visiting Sheffield I’ve always recommended this place. It had been a while since I last visited myself, but the other day me and a friend came in for lunch. We’d seen the promotion giving the option of 2 or 3 courses for a set price on a Wednesday. Wow… The hanging kebabs were included (pleasantly surprised), and the quality and freshness of the food was outstanding. So much flavour! The interior in this place is always bright and feels well looked after. Staff were super attentive and approachable, drinks were (and still are) good quality- not like a lot of the cheap sugary cocktails in other local bars. This place truly never disappoints. I’m so glad I can confidently say it’s a consistently LOVELY place to go in Sheffield.”
“What a fabulous little place !! We only stopped for a quick drink, late afternoon, so can't comment on evenings here, but we loved the place. Great selection of real ales, which apparently changes on a regular basis. Just sandwiches/light bites for food. Great decor. Friendly bar chap. Tucked away just at the back of the market square, so plenty of town carparks nearby. Will most definitely visit again.”
“Under new management! Great, lively and quirky bar. Fantastic cocktails with a cocktail of the month available. Lovely seated courtyard area and extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff.”
“Great pub. Lovely selection of ales”
“This is such a cute little courtyard. I went into Noa’s arc and snapped this picture. Lovely shop as well.”
“Easily one of the best pubs in Sheffield! Dog friendly and lovely beer garden.”
“Small but Cozy..old fashioned and just the place you want to be especially If you are retired. Always has food available but this is mainly for regulars . Nice variety of drinks”
“Gate Inn is a pleasant place to stay. The location is convenient, close to the main attractions. The rooms are clean and cosy, there is everything you need. The staff is friendly and attentive, always ready to help. Breakfast is tasty, with a wide choice of dishes. In the restaurant you can try local specialities. Prices are moderate. From the minuses - sometimes it can be noisy because of the proximity to the road. Overall, I recommend Gate Inn for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Excellent value for money.”
“Booked in for the Pie and a Pint night. £14.50 each was really good value as the pies, chips and peas are excellent. We had the Venison and Red Wine along with the Lamb and Mint. The pastry in both was great along with the sides and the gravy. All good all, a great meal at a great price!”
“We had a great time, the food is very very good, from pizza, to calzone, to pasta disces, everything was delicious! Service is very good, thank you to Fabio and the chef. Glad to have discovered this local restaurant”
“Didn't have a chance to stay, but if there rooms are anything like the friendly staff and the great environment in the bar, then give them a chance. Many thanks. I will be returning.”
“From the moment we arrived with a warm welcome we felt very comfortable in our surroundings. Our food was cooked to perfection, arriving without delay. We hadn't been to The Royal Oak before but won't hesitate to do so again. Thank you for a lovely evening.”
“I visited this pub for the first time today. Just to have a Pint before getting the bus back to Derby. It was a great pub not many people mainly due to it being lunchtime and football at home in Chesterfield. Nice staff member told me about the new Oakham Ales on tap a very nice Pint of Ale. Great Pub Great Beer”
“Great atmosphere and a great pint of Moonshine. Friendly staff to.”
“Really like this pub very friendly staff Go most weeks great atmosphere”
“Booked for a Sunday morning breakfast. Service finished at 10.30am which I hadn't seen on the website anywhere. We were late due to a road closure but they kindly still accommodated us and just asked if we could order quickly. The food was excellent although my father-in-law was rather overwhelmed with the amount of food in his Piggy Hash ( a lot) . He still managed to eat most of it though. Our first visit but will definitely be back to try a lunch sometime soon. Outside looks great too.”
“Best pub going. Always love coming here. Landlord and Lady are extremely kind and welcoming”
“This is an amazing little place. From the outside it certainly doesn't look inviting but don't let that put you off. Inside there's a warm welcome, real ale and range of classic, table-top arcade games to be found! A pool table and darts board are also available but 1943 and Centipede made it impossible for me to move away from the arcade games! Probably best to avoid Sheffield United match days if you're after a quiet drink - as it's literally across the road from Bramall Lane. Other than that, this is a great pub.”
“The best Sunday Dinner bar my Mum's that I've had in a pub. I had the Slow Roast Leg of Lamb that came with roasties, mash, carrots, seasonal greens, a massive Yorkshire pudding and gravy. I also had some cauliflower cheese as an extra which was well worth £3. I had Raspberry Gin Cheesecake for pudding. I am stuffed now as they don't stint on portion sizes. The staff were lovely as well. Very friendly. I will definitely come here again for Sunday dinner xxx”
“This restaurant was recommended and see why. The food, staff and location was wonderful. We had the 'while you waiting' snack - delicious, then starters, main course and sweet. All the food was tasty and flavoursome. I had the homemade 'pie of the day' (mushroom and ale) which was absolutely delicious and plentiful. The triple cooked chips (pinched from my wife's plate) were some of the best we have ever tasted. The menu is not extensive but after seeing what other diners had ordered as well, we noticed all the dishes had the same care and quality and represented very good value. The staff were very attentive and pleasant and we insisted on leaving a service charge as none was included. We throughly recommend this establishment.”
“Excellent service. The team are amazing. We were made very welcome by Lynne and her team. We will definitely be rebooking for our Christmas family meal next year. Customer service is the key and I was extremely impressed with each and every member of the team. It felt like one big happy family and such a great atmosphere.”
“Attend for quiz night on a Thursday. Martin, the quiz leader, is excellent. Very fun night.”
“Well when you have 3 real ale pubs within 50 metres it has to be good!? The Dronfield Arms is another " Brew Pub" home to Tempest Brewery. Casta had one of their Pale Ales.. Rear beer decking next to car park to enjoy a sunny south facing summer afternoon. Somebody knew Casta was a relative of Flat Eric, 1990's Superstar. (Now penniless and living with us!) Pub very close to railway station.”
“Absolutely fantastic pub and atmosphere the staff are friendly and the landlord and staff welcome everyone can't fault them in any way shape or form keep up the fantastic work”
“Outstanding pub, with a great atmosphere, Haven't been in for years the pub used to be a bit of a dive but not so now. Wow! What a turn around. We called in to see some live music. Landlords Kerry and Paul have turned the place around. Fantastic. Clean new upholstery, spotless facilities, clean tasting beers. We had a cracking night.”
“Grate Saturday afternoon sat outside the Globe in the September sunshine, drinks really cheep with a good selection to choose from. Staff very friendly, popular pub and only a short walk or stagger to the train station.”
“Delicious pub roast, really reasonably priced and a wonderful atmosphere. The staff are all lovely too, especially Kira and Molly who served us. Thanks a lot all, we will be back :)”
“We went there last Sunday the 30th Nov and we didn't wait long for the meal which was a 4 person platter and there was more than enough for 4,the staff were excellent and very friendly, it was a really good experience and we will definitely go again thank you so much to a great team,”
“Great beer selection looking forward to returning for food team has done an amazing job refurbshing the place”
“We booked a room at The Riverside for an 18th birthday party. Communication from the start was great. Rooms to hire are lovely and all the staff at the Riverside are very polite and welcoming. Extra special thanks to the two young bar staff last night at our party, nothing was too much trouble for them, very friendly and polite :-) would definitely recommend Riverside for venue hire and would happily use again in the future.”
