“Beautiful Christmas meal and a lovely waitress. Unfortunately experienced some problems with the table beside us but the waitress we had was so lovely that we are happy to look past this as it’s our local. Some bad seeds shouldn’t define a thriving pub.”
“Roast turkey today, hot plenty and nicely cooked.at £9 eatch.would highly recommend, food always good.”
“Had such a wonderful time dining here with a big group of friends. The food was top quality — every dish was delicious and well-prepared. But what really made the experience stand out was the service. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming, and incredibly patient. A big thank you to Manager AJ and our lovely waitress Dina — both were so attentive and genuinely friendly. There were also two male waiters who helped us a lot throughout the meal, though we didn’t catch their names. Still, their service didn’t go unnoticed! With a group our size, things can get messy, but the team handled everything so smoothly. Orders were taken clearly and accurately, and when it came time to split the bill, it was done in such a neat and organized way — really appreciated that. We all left full and happy. I’ll definitely be back, and won’t hesitate to recommend this place to my friends!”
“Terry (the old school landlord who we need more off) is the highlight of a decent weekend out, come here if you want a great classic pub experience. Best pub in the area, friendly staff, friendly locals, affordable drinks and awesome entertainment. If I could give it a higher rating I would.”
“Went here for a work lunch and was really impressed. Despite being a large group with a pre-order, the service was excellent, attentive, efficient, and well-organised. Our food came out quickly, and the staff checked in on us throughout. The food itself was delicious and, considering the price, offered great value for money. Would definitely recommend for group bookings or casual work outings.”
“A unique experience. The food is delicious. We ordered steak and chicken burgers. Every time I travel to Southampton, I must go to Kettle Restaurant.”
“Unbelievable burgers!! Have ordered from Burga many times and we absolutely love it! Some family members aren't keen on burgers but absolutely loved these so we order every time they visit and are never disappointed! All of the chicken is delicious too and a special mention has to go to the doughnut burger, which is by far my favourite burger ever!! We decided to go and eat in once and the staff were very accommodating and the food was incredible (perhaps even better than when we normally order in!) Would highly recommend Burga... no idea how it isn't more than 4 stars!! Will be ordering again very soon!”
“Always love the atmosphere here, relaxed and friendly. The staff went above and beyond and added a candle to my son's Sundae and brought it out singing happy birthday to him. Thea and Junior were lovely.”
“It was a very busy Xmas lunch day, (Sunday 14th Dec) the staff were very very busy. The lady running the bar was the first point of contact and took the brunt of moans and groans from the customers. It took ages to get shown our table, but we could see how stretched the staff were. There were 3 staff on duty to look after a packed restaurant, serve food and clear plates, as well as run the bar area. I love this pub, always, including this visit, had the best customer service. But please help the staff out and put extra on shift, I would hate to see you lose these wonderful people due to being overstretched and basically not giving the customer service they want to Thanks again to those three ladies, you rocked it xxxxxx”
“An excellent dining experience from start to finish. The service was friendly and efficient, and the food presentation was beautiful. The duck breast was tender, with a perfectly balanced sweet sauce. Dessert was also impressive.”
“The manager 'JJ' deserves a huge shout out.... always cheerful, customer focused, and hardworking. Shame there's no 'staff recognition' scheme, as this gentleman deserves a Gold Star! Thank you for your attentiveness and great service JJ !”
“This is one of the more popular venues from the Wetherspoons chain of pubs. The beer is pretty well priced and most tastes are catered for (IPA, session, craft, lager etc) as well as wines and spirits also. You can no longer sit and smoke out the front of the pub but there is a smoking “garden” towards the rear of the pub. The toilets are regularly cleaned and maintained and there are plenty of tables and booths to sit at, depending on whether you want a little more privacy or the space for a large group. As it’s near the centre of Southampton this pub is particularly well located for many people either coming from or going to other entertainment as well as those in port for the day from the cruise ships. It’s typically busy on Saints home days and most evenings/ weekends but during the day it’s always got a “busy” feel as there’s often a smattering of locals drinking or taking advantage of the free refills for coffee and tea. The food is typically delivered to your table within ten minutes and is the standard Wetherspoon quality. I find their menu fairly varied and they’ve taken pains to detail each meals’ contents to satisfy most customers. All in all: recommended!”
“Excellent pint of Guinness, good live music and efficient bar staff.”
“Great food and service with a 2 for £30 deal. There was a good choice with steak, burgers and other options. We were told clearly what was in the deal and served quickly. The drinks came quickly and the food took around 20 minutes to arrive. We had starters and main courses and all was cooked perfectly. The portions were filling and I'd never tasted such tender rump steak. Not at all fatty. The surf and turf burger with the King Prawns and proper grilled beef burger was also full of flavour. I wish there was a Beefeater like this nearer to where we usually live.”
“Tasty and good value for money. Can't go wrong with a £6 lasagne and 2.99 wings! Only at certain times within the lunchtime menu (ends 6pm and no weekends) food arrived quickly. It was nice and quiet. Just what I needed for a lunchtime stop off.”
“Some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. The burger was amazing. They didn’t have a lot of chicken burger choices as it was mainly beef for the burgers even though they were happy to swap out for chicken. I got the Sando and was very happy with my choice. Chicken was the perfect amount of crispy and the sauce and coleslaw weren’t overpowering. We also ordered the fried pickles and jalapeños with mozzarella sticks as a starter which was ok, nothing to write home about. A tray of chicken called ‘the whole coup’ which had some of the best fried chicken I have had. The tenders and wings in the tray were decent, would have preferred the tenders to be crispier. Finally, we had to get a side of buffalo wings with fries. The buffalo wings were great, some of the best I've had. Service was excellent and very helpful.”
“Best place to hangout for students and sport lovers. Reasonable price for drinks and food. Their large English breakfast is a must try, fell in love with it!!”
“Highly recommend the station, the staff are always bubbly and friendly. Andy, Victoria, Lauren, Lea, Abbie and Ben are a great team and always make your experience memorable! Drinks and food are well priced and the atmosphere at the weekend is incredible, will never go anywhere else!”
“Good reasonably priced grub with efficient service. Good crowd in circa lunchtime that informed me The Wagon Works was a well-respected local pub and eating house.”
“Stopped here on the way back from Scouting Event at Ferny Croft (across the road). I have to say, I'm sorry I didn't know about this hidden gem before. The restraunt is beautiful but on a sunny bank holiday we sat in the garden. Lots of places to sit and the tables are well spaced out. Very different to the packed in feeling of most pub gardens. Very relaxed feeling. There is a lovely children's play area with smaller section for tots and a bouncy castle too. I think my 6 year old would have stayed all day given the choice. The menu is varied enough to cater to most people and the addition of the Barrel and Stone pizzas is fantastic. From an allergy view point, many items are available with gluten and vegan options and the rarity of gluten and dairy free. The kids meals are of a decent size and the starter soup of the day was huge. Food tasted great and was a reasonable price especially given the location. It dog (and wellies) friendly here too which is great when coming in from a forest walk. Staff were really polite and knowledgeable and the service was great. Free WiFi throughout The place is wheelchair accessible and has decent accessible toilets too but there are some gravel areas to the outside. Unfortunately the outdoor tables wouldn't be easily accessed by a wheelchair as the benches aren't removable. We didn't have the wheelchair with us so didnt pursue further and they may have a solution Looking forward to coming back soon to try sunday lunch.”
“Quality kebab, great value and top service”
“Breakfast here is very good. The typical premier inn breakfast wich is both delicious and good value for money.”
