βGreat spot for the dog, our Golden Retriever (Sully) loves this place, he's usually whining with excitement before we even reach the gate, he gets to run around in a secure safe spot, very reasonably priced and well maintained.β
βVery nice forest walk with alot of parking and friendly locals. Nice play area for kids too. Duck feeding available with a duck feeding machine that dispenses duck food for Β£1β
βAs far as parks go Lurgan Park is among the United Kingdom's higher echelon. It really is rather special, certainly the best in Northern Ireland in my opinion and it's particularly well maintained too. Fantastic for families with young children, as aside from the picturesque setting, there is a children's playground. There's also a lake that is home to numerous wild birds including swans, geese and ducks. Squirrels can be spotted going about their business in and around the trees. Park is welcoming for those with dogs. Lovely place for a jog or just a leisurely walk. Easy to find as it's so close to Lurgan main Street.β
βA lovely place to walk the dog. When when it is busy it never seems too full. The paths are well maintained and although never far from Belfast, you feel like you are in another world.Only thing that could be better is a few more bins, I hate seeing rubbish in such a lovely space, I never understand why people leave rubbish and especially poo bags in such lovely spaces.β
βI first visited in 1971 as a child. Since then Iβve visited the museum over 20 times. I always see and learn something new. The staff and volunteers are welcoming and knowledgeable. We pick a nice day and walk the full park, thoroughly enjoying the peace and quiet especially in the rural sections. A special place.β
βLovely park, great big walk with the dog. It has a lovely little cafe and nice, clean toilets. Most sunny days you can also find an ice cream van near the beach! You can choose to walk several different routes, woods or beach or a mixture of both.β
βBeautiful spot for a walk. There is a little coffee van that does pizzas and take away coffees, which is just in the main parking lot. Note that it only accepts cash, and the closest ATM is at a garage about 10 minutes' walk away.β
βA great asset for Belfast. The lungs of the city giving refuge from traffic and pollution for locals and tourists. Very popular with walkers, cyclists and runners providing a shared space for all. Linking Belvoir Forest, Lady Dixon Park and Barnets Demense. Cycle the whole way from Titanic Quarter to Lisburn alongside the River Lagan, traffic free apart for a short section from Ormeau to Stranmillis.β
βA very relaxed and enjoyable meander. For that little bit of fresh air, Cairn Wood was a great option today. Every dog walker we encountered was well mannered and in control of their dog; excellent to see that! We did notice a few dog land mines however; this was a well kept public walk for sure. Several options of which trail you might choose to follow, all marked up well at each junction. The coffee served at Batch (in the car park) served up a decent, and perfectly hot, cup of coffee! The tray bake options are all pretty decent!!β
βFantastic walk up into hills above East Belfast. Great views across the city and a beautiful glen with waterfall and light dappling through deciduous trees. Even a 12 to 14 hundred year old hill fort at the top (not in great repair but still worth seeing). Be warned- the climb is steep including high steps. Also some steps and fences really need maintenance work done to them - stout shoes are essential if there's been any rain recently (ok all the time - this is Belfast!) and this isn't for anyone with limited mobility.β
βGreat Walks in all directions. Plenty of dog walkers and walkers. Watch for cyclists and runners if wearing earphones.β
βI took the train to Bangor and then walked from Bangor to Hollywood along the coastal path. Some sections of this path are paved, and some other sections remain as footpaths. The areas close to the Bangor and Hollywood are maintained as promenades. Itβs a fairly easy walk with occasional slopes, but there are plenty of benches to sit and rest a little. The section from Bangor to Helenβs bay is busy, and the section from Helenβs bay is quiet until the Cultra area. It is a calm and peaceful walking path, with people walking dogs and jogging/exercising. Itβs generally very quiet except for the noise of waves breaking. Salt air.β
βNice and quiet walk if you go early on a Sunday morning. There are plenty of sign posts and markers along the way. Some parts of the path are slightly narrow. Just be careful of the numerous cyclistsβ
βGood area for walking dogs and going for a walk. The area has a designated area for dogs, which is very useful it also has many fitness machines located in and around the park the bike park aswell is excellent and I would recommend it it is just a little bit hidden inside the park but overall Billy Neill is a good place for walks and to bring your dgsβ
βA beautiful walk around 2 lakes with stunning views of Cave Hill.β
βA great way to access the coastal path if you get off the train at Bangor West. The glen is a maze of tiny paths leading down to the sea, full of unexpected vistas among a small but beautiful patch of natural woodland.β
βGreat country park in picturesque surroundings of the North Coast. Variety of walking trails with differing levels of challenge. Fun packed kids area with many family oriented activities. Cafe provides good food and parking is easy to locate.β
βWell kept and safe and secure. Council keep the park looking lovely, spotless and litter-free. Be careful of the security man who locks up and keeps the park safe because he nearly knocked a child down once after the Moira junior Parkrun.β
βLots of walks all on the flat and plenty to see. Great children's play park and picnic tables near the visitor centre. Also a lovely sensory garden with great wooden animal sculpture. There are two hides for those interested in birdwatching. There are also two cafes, one at the visitor centre and one at Kinnego Marinaβ
βGreat venue, all seated tiered so great view for all to see. Bars and toilets easy access. Saw a great gig. Easy to leave after the gigβ
βGreat place for a dander. Good walks on level ground.β
βI love to walk among the trees in this park - so many memories. Lovely coffeeβ
βBig and beautiful park. Here are a pond, playground, football field, a lot of benches. Itβs a nice location for a cozy family picnic as well. Public WC is availableβ
βOne of the best experiences at Xmas to do been wanting to go here for so long, didn't disappoint kids loved it, magical makes u feel like Christmas is here, get urself down thereβ
βWe both love a wee rest and coffee in the park, Sasha loves to bimble about and people watch.β
βHaven't been here for a while and we hit it on a day when luckily enough the tide was out. We were able to reach the island but beware, if the tide has just gone out the causeway can be quite slippery. It gets better as it dries of course. Great scenery but sad to see empty beer cans and plastic bottles way out here as there are plenty of litter bins back at the well kept car park. There are also plenty of seats and picnic tables. Definitely a nice walk but only if the tide is out.β
