“My first visit I attended with my nervous chihuahua, the second visit she was excited when we walked into the main reception and was so confident. She went from being shy and running away to initiating play with other dogs. It’s secure area where dogs can play and socialise off-lead with some agility course obstacles too. The staff are amazing, approachable, very helpful and friendly. There is plenty of fresh water available for the dogs and lots of spray bottles & bags to clean up any dog mess, and it is constantly monitored by staff and the mess is quickly cleaned up. I have to bring my 6yo with me and there’s a little area where she can sit away from all the dogs if it gets too busy. They also have a café but I have not tried it yet.”

“Really peaceful place for a picnic or just to de-stress. Plenty of parking and reasonably priced. Check out my photos for prices as of June 2025. Picnic tables and benches dotted around great for dog walking, some dogs were off the leads. However the track we took was sandy so you'll get a buggy down there however you may struggle with a chair or scooter.”

“Tl;dr Great swimming pool. I've been to many pools in my life and I believe how great the staff are here. The friendly, warm and helpful welcome I've had the last few times I've been here is incredible. If I'm honest the venue doesn't look up to much from the outside but the facilities indoors are actually incredible. Clean tidy chaning area every time. This may sound odd but anyone that uses a pool often may understand, the pool, walls and floor around the pool are always clean too. It actually feels great to swim in. An added bonus for the facility is the smaller pool for young children meaning that the main pool isn't fully booked out all the time for various lessons and classes.”

“Have only used the small pool with my children but can say it is the warmest pool I've ever been in. The staff are good and there was always a life guard on duty. The layout of the changing rooms is unusual and the lockers apparently take the old pound coin (?) but we were able to put the bag with our valuables in next to the pool so we could keep an eye on them. Overall a good experience at this pool”

“This is a good pool for serious swimmers and those who just want some fun. There aren't any slides or anything too fancy usually but in the water kids can make their own entertainment. There are however, designated fun sessions, during which they will have a large inflatable island, excellent fun for slightly older kids. Additionally they offer a variety of lessons and classes, a small gym, a jacuzzi, nice clean changing rooms, and excellent facilities for the disabled. Staff here are helpful and dedicated. For a small community pool it is very decent.”

    Sgwd Yr Eira Waterfall

    ★★★★★ 4.9 (3,015 Reviews) Top rated Open

“We chose this trail for our very first walk in Wales. I travelled from Taunton, which took around two hours by car. The journey was mostly along dual carriageways, passing through Bristol. The final stretch was along a rural road, narrow enough that two cars could only pass with care. Parking The car park Cwm Porth - Four Waterfalls Car Park where we stopped was well equipped with changing rooms, toilets, a small shop, and a coffee shop serving sandwiches. The capacity wasn’t very high, so on bank holidays it’s best to arrive early to secure a space. There is, however, another car park nearby as a backup. The Trails The area offers two marked trails – red and green. Completing both takes around four hours in total. The red route is a loop. To see four of the waterfalls, you’ll need to leave the main trail, descend around 200 steps, and then climb back up afterwards. The green route is an out-and-back path. You follow it to see two waterfalls, then retrace your steps to rejoin the main trail and complete the route. Waterfalls There are four waterfalls if you cover both the red and green routes. The first one is tall and set at a distance – you can view it from afar, though a few people managed to find a way closer. The second and third waterfalsl are on the green route. I even saw a group of teenagers diving into the pool at the base and swimming. The final waterfall was, in my opinion, the most spectacular. By that point you’ve already completed more than two-thirds of the trail, so the decision to descend the steep steps and climb back up again isn’t an easy one – but I strongly recommend it. The effort is absolutely worth it. After visiting this last waterfall, it takes about half an hour to return to the car park. Difficulty The main route itself is fairly easy and takes about two hours, which makes it moderate overall. Adding in the three stair descents to visit the waterfalls raises the difficulty to moderate–hard, especially when combined with the length of the walk. Recommendations Avoid visiting during busy times, as it’s harder to enjoy the scenery with large crowds. Wear proper walking shoes – they don’t need to be technical, just comfortable for long distances. Bring plenty of water and a hat, as some parts of the path are exposed to direct sun.”

“Stunning part of the Gower Peninsula. Lovely scenic walk to the beach. It's worth the climb up the large sand bank up to Penard Castle. Beautiful views from here. The Penard Pill that flows into the beach is usually great for skim boarding approximately 100m back from the 3 cliffs themselves. When the river is higher, you could always use a small dingy or rubber ring for the kids to play in. Always be careful when the tide is coming in. There are lots of rip currents in three cliffs bay. I would advise staying within the area patrolled by the lifeguards if you're entering the sea.”

The park has a huge lake in the centre, with lots of swans, ducks and seagulls. The park is maintained very well with lots of seating arrangements. The grass is also maintained very well. It has got multiple entry from all the sides. You will see lots of kids playing during their vacation and also a lot of families come for a small get-together. It also has a store which offer tea coffee, ice creams, soft drinks, croissants, and many more things. It also has the toilet facilities in the park, it is nice and clean. You will surely breathe a nice and clean air and will also enjoy the walk. Overall it’s a good place to spend time alone or with your family. You will really enjoy your time in the park. Recommend for all age group.”

    Penllergaer Valley Woods

    ★★★★☆ 4.7 (2,474 Reviews) Top rated Open

“Penllergare Valley Woods is nothing short of enchanting. Even beneath grey skies, the place glows with a quiet, otherworldly beauty. Winding paths, ancient trees, and the soft rush of waterfalls create an atmosphere that feels plucked from the pages of a Tolkien novel. You half expect hobbits to appear around the bend, or elves to step lightly between the mossy stones. The landscape shifts as you walk: serene lakes give way to shaded glades, and every turn seems to reveal another hidden corner worth pausing over. It’s a place that doesn’t need sunshine to shine — the mist and drizzle only add to its storybook character. Whether you come for a stroll, a moment of reflection, or simply to lose yourself in nature, Penllergare delivers something rare: peace, wonder, and a touch of magic. An absolute gem in South Wales.”
