The room was clean and comfortable, and both breakfast and dinner were delicious, with a wide variety of options to choose from. The dishes from the kitchen were absolutely delicious – every meal was perfectly prepared, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. Compliments to the chefs for such high-quality cuisine! I would especially like to thank Anshika, our waitress, for her exceptional service – always smiling, professional, and very attentive to every detail. She truly made our dining experience special. The reception staff were also very helpful and welcoming, making the check-in and check-out process smooth and pleasant. A big thank you as well to Valentina, the bartender, who was friendly, knowledgeable, and made amazing drinks every evening. Her Espresso Martini was absolutely delicious – the best we’ve ever had! “Stayed here for one night late September. Staff are SO friendly and helpful, right from check-in, and also at breakfast. There was a nice atmosphere in the hotel, which is standard corporate style, but very smart and friendly. Rooms were spacious and clean and, at last, some decent temperate controls that worked really quickly. It's worth getting breakfast. The buffet selection isn't huge, but it's big enough mix and the hot food was actually hot, and very tasty. It wasn't too much extra over the standard room price, so well worth it.”

We stay in many hotels around the world due to work and this was fantastic. The room was perfect, the food was exceptional and the service was first class. “Raf is such an amazing guy so friendly and a really good mechanic. My husband always takes his taxi there to get fixed and my brother always has his mot and service done by raf on his mini an he lives in Birmingham. That how good raf is he’s worth the travel from Birmingham to Walsall. I send my daughter there any time she has any problems with her BMW and he gets straight to it diagnosing the problem and sorting it out for her: I would highly recommend him.”

The front suspension of my (low mileage) Volvo XC60 suddenly & dramatically decided that it could no longer cope with the demands of a pensioner driving around the roads of Lichfield . . . This left me stranded in a village with no bus service. My usual garage was sympathetic but, being fully booked, suggested PJS Autos on Crossfield Road. They responded to my situation, fitted me in within a few days and repaired the car at a cost less than a Volvo dealer wanted for the parts alone. Nice people to deal with as well!”

You can really tell that the chefs take pride in their cooking. The fish was another highlight — fresh, perfectly seasoned, and grilled just right. It honestly melted in the mouth. It’s rare to find a place that nails both meat with such consistency, but Merrymaid absolutely does. The service was top-notch throughout our visit. , the food came out hot and fresh, and the servers were attentive without being intrusive. What really impressed me, though, was the personal touch — the owner, Ranjit, personally came over to our table to ask how everything was. That kind of attention and care speaks volumes about how much pride he takes in his restaurant and how much he values his customers. It’s not just a meal here — it’s an experience. Everything about this place says quality — from the cleanliness of the restaurant to the presentation of the food and the friendly, family-like vibe that makes you want to stay longer. You can tell the whole team truly cares about what they do, and it shows in every detail. We will be back to try the curry. Merrymaid Bar and Grill is the place to go. “Went for lunch on Sunday 21st Dec, we went as a walk-in, after a morning of Xmas shopping. The staff were really friendly and welcoming; and even more welcome was the superb roast beef dinner; my wife had Cod-that was equally delicious. My lunch was washed down with a cracking Bordeaux Premiere. The Hotel du Vin is a really great building (former red brick Victorian Eye hospital) so is really characterful; and located in the Colmore Business district of the city centre; so architecturally and aesthetically, one of nicer parts of ‘town’. The bistro is beautifully decorated without being overly grand and pretentious, so a really nice relaxed atmosphere. Thank you to the waitress who allowed us to take extra Xmas crackers for our kids! Merry Xmas!”

“Back over from France for a few days. Popped in with my dad on Wednesday for lunch. Had a decent curry and a couple of pints of old peculiar. At £2.27 a pop it was incredibly good value, especially nowadays. Really good pint to boot. The old place never changes which is great. Will be back next I'm over for sure!”
