“We called in for coffee as we were visiting a nearby property that a relative is buying. This is a large pub - plenty of different seating areas. Very friendly helpful staff behind the counter. I would guess that this is an independently owned pub - you don't get service like this in a chain! Very attractive "pub classic" menu. I can't wait for the purchase to go through so that we can all return here for a meal and some drinks. Community pubs like this are increasingly rare. The coffee was good and surprisingly cheap. “Country pub vibes with nice atmosphere. Lots of seating inside and out. Food was good but could do with more vegan options. Facilities were good but no hand towels in the bathroom. Staff were good and attentive to the table, I would advise booking, we went on a Wednesday and it was fairly busy at lunch time”

“A massive thank you for making my 60th last night so special (Nov 2nd, 2024). I've been going to this amazing pub since my 20's and more often in my mid 40's with my daughter and her crew. Good times were had & great memories were made. When asked what I wanted to do for my 60th, JB's was the obvious choice. I wasn't disappointed! This little pub hasn't changed in 40 years! Proper traditional pub. The staff are awesome! The barman even remembered me from 16/17 years ago! It was like 'going home'. Thank you to the staff and everyone, especially the new friends we made, for making my birthday so special! ❤️”

“Brunch was fantastic here. Food was great as well as drinks. We opted for the bottomless drinks, but as the restaurant was extremely busy was a little slow with topping us up but understandable. Friend’s steak wasn’t great but was replaced immediately. Other than that, food was so good we returned the next day before heading back home.”

And then a wonderful performance by the incredibly talented Nick Pynn. It’s a special place, and we felt very lucky to receive Jane’s warm hospitality. Dinner, entertainment, a round of drinks and a bottle of wine came to £45 per person.”

“You wonder if its going to be as good as you expect. The experience was a birthday gift from my niece . My wife and I went with moderate expectations but we were really happy with the whole thing. I loved the range of food and the care the staff took to make sure everything was perfect. The multiple dishes provided, solved my normal problem of what to choose on the menu and wanting to try a bit of everything. Just go with a few friends and have a great time”

“We went here for our anniversary dinner, wonderful food and service! We had the duck and lamb, both very tender and juicy. For starters we had the duck roll and scallops, I normally don’t enjoy seafood which I always find “fishy” but I loved the scallop, complemented by the sauce/puree that goes with it. For dessert we had the mango cheesecake, not the most impressive but not bad and would overall recommend this place !”

“My mother and I visited this place on the 09.10.25 during lunch time hours. We were greeted with a beautiful smile form a young lady that was very happy passionate and welcoming. She designated a very nice table with a good view by the window overlooking the best view. All other staff were very kind and attentive including the restaurant owner . The atmosphere was nice with great menu selection and very good music playing in the background. The young lady was efficient and always took care of my mother's needs and even spoke in my mother's mother tongue spanish. The food was great, always well presented and very delicious. We had alot of fish dishes and they were tasty and well cooked . Overall it was a very pleasant experience lovely restaurant very clean on a beautiful sunny day. Upon existing the restaurant we were very impressed with the kindness and professionalism of everyone working that day.Also the lady owner was actually near the entrance she very nicely spoke to us briefly with a smile and said our goodbyes. “Nice cafe cum bar in Lewes. Great food and service. I had a meat plate (full English) which was great - not cheap at £15, but value for money. The coffee is great and I also had a 0% Paulaner beer as it was about 10.30”

“Have passed by here for years and not found time to stop. Made time today and had an amazing birthday meal. Curry goat was amazing, my wife's pork chop was enormous, tender and beautifully cooked. My son's steak gorgeous and apparently the cheeseburger was the best my daughter has ever had. Fantastic staff too, so friendly and happy to answer any queries. Great local beers too. Great to see a small local place so busy”

“We had a table booked for 7:30 Wednesday 14th August for 4 people. We were seated in the courtyard and it was beautiful outside under the Jumbrella - the temperature was perfect : 3 of us had the chicken skewers to start and the chicken was so well cooked it easily came off of the skewer and the garlic butter was to die for. The other had the sharing platter for 2 (the fish one) it was a perfect size for a starter and for one person even though the rest of us “helped him out” . Portion sizes perfect. For mains we had 3 steaks and the surf and turf. Really generous portion sizes, quick service, food was DIVINE it was a shame to finish. We all had the same desert the chocolate mousse choux bun and even though nobody really had room for them they went down very easily!!! We will DEFINITELY return. The manager and all of the team were so attentive, friendly and professional it was a delight to be served by them. We loved the fact that it is a dog friendly restaurant and wish that there were more restaurants like this! Keep up the good work!”

“Had the best Sunday Roast. Had been searching the area and so glad we came here! Drinks and food were amazing. Roast beef and pork with crackling were delicious. The portion sizes were huge!”

“Came here because I walked past exploring the area while visiting for the day and could smell the food being prepared was instantly drawn to the pub. It was starting to get busy and most tables were booked but I was able to grab a space and enjoy a really good fish finger sandwich. Didn’t take long to come out, the chips were banging, the sandwich it self was one of the best fish finger sandwiches I’ve had! The tomato sauce was delicious and I found out it was homemade, tasted like a tomato soup (in my opinion). Good service, lovely people who work here and the atmosphere of the people here a good time. Definitely come if you’re heading to Hastings or if you’ve live here and looking for something new.”

“Was here last weekend and popped in for a snack . Great staff here who were attentive but not in your face. It's a great winter pub a proper country gem but also amazing in Spring and Summer with it's awesome garden and views over the Sussex countryside. Good was great and just a great place to go. Thanks for a lovely time. The group who run this pub also run The Bohemian in Eastbourne and in the Towner light again both atmospheric places with Good food and wonderful service.”

As a solo walk in diner, I was made to feel so welcome, by everyone: mostly from Christian who goes out of his way to help you with the many great food choices while being honest. His charisma was great, made me laugh. It's testament to the ethos of this place is top notch!”

“First time ever to an Ivy restaurant and it was fantastic. Greeted warmly at the door and taken straight to our table. Our waiter was lovely, he was charismatic and friendly. The restaurant was fully booked and the atmosphere was great. Now the food- one of the best meals I have ever had. Scallops and soup to start and they were happy to accommodate my fussy eating with the starter. Mains were sea bass and flat iron chicken and we couldn’t fault it. Great value for money considering the high quality food and service provided. Thank you”

“Genuinely maybe the best 3 course meal I've ever had, booked the function room for a surprise 30th and was genuinely unbelievable. We had Riccardo (might be slightly wrong) but couldn't have asked for any more. It is slightly on the more expensive side but one million % worth it if you want the full experience. Food and service both 10/10”
