“Came across Tammy's on a weekend away in Brighton, after a long and arduous journey. The steep hill climb to the chippy helped build up our appetite and gave us a laugh along the way. Staff were friendly, food was freshly cooked. All in all, a worthwhile find.”
“Wonderful staff and the usual patronage / regulars are all incredibly welcoming and full of humor. Not one macro brewery to be found. All local-ish microbrews from really incredible breweries. When I return to England, even if I'm staying far from Kemptown I'm definitely popping by Hand In Hand again. Amazing!!!”
“I'm from Coulsdon and I have to say my family travel the 45 min drive to Shoreham fish bar on a weekly basis , Simply because the fish and chips are the best, there's probably 5/6 chip shops with in a 10 min drive from Coulsdon however they do not come anywhere close to what you get from Shoreham”
“Excellent fried fish one of the best”
“Seems like mostly a takeaway place, very limited seating inside. My wife and I stopped by for our first fish & chip experience in the UK. It was great! Unlike the places down on the beach in Brighton you couldn’t smell semi-rancid oil from a block away. Everything here was fresh and clean. Our fish was cooked to order and the portions were much larger that expected. We are in town for three weeks, and we will definitely return.”
“Been living in Brighton 7 years and this is by far the best fish and chips we have had. Everything we have had is delicious. We don’t live that close and the delivery is always hot and as quick as they can. Generous portion sizes too and a varied menu for a fish and chip shop.”
“A cozy cafe that I happened to stumble upon. The rhubarb crumble was amazing. The portions for the main dishes are also big which is awesome. Really nice atmosphere, as the locals eat here as well, and they were very kind”
“First time using them Only had a large huss cook fresh batter golden brown and crisp lots flavver will use again the young man that served me polite and full off beans spot on 11 out off 10”
“Brilliant pub, great atmosphere, good selection of booze. Love the music and the friendly staff. If I recall correctly my server was Poppy and she was great for drink recommendations ☺️”
“This is one of Hove‘s best kept secrets, Where locals and regulars return, the fish is exceptionally good quality, Always fresh and they have the option of gluten-free batter too you can dine in or to have a takeaway you can phone up and order it and collect your own order or get a taxi to collect your order. It’s a good old-fashioned fish and chip shop.”
“Came here for brunch with the old man (future #1 best-selling author) to enjoy a nice meal. The food was quite splendid and tasty. Nice service and a wide range of items to choose from. Would recommend for an outing with a cosy atmosphere ☺️”
“My favourite chippy, and the very best one, too! Quality is consistently excellent, plus the prices are very competitive. Keep up the great work, Chris! I'll be by again next week, for my weekly dose of your great fish and chips!”
“Really good selection of fresh fish, the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable, we had a local caught Brill which was Brilliant!”
“Great venue, great beers, owned by hand brew co, drank dipas, milds, tipas and ale”
“Best fish & chips!!!!!! Sauces are too expensive though, I heard other customers complaining about it too while waiting outside until my order was ready to collect….”
“Top quality fish and chips. The fish is fresh not frozen and you can taste the difference. Friendly welcome and a great location. Nice you can eat there or grab a take away- the £2 car park charge is refunded if you do that. Ideal for a bite to eat before getting on the ferry. Keep up the good work!”
“Had a takeaway from here a few nights ago, staff were very friendly and answered all questions with a smile. I had a large cod and chips and the fish was well cooked and the batter was crispy and not at all soggy or greasy, my wife had the cod nuggets, which were large chunks of fresh fish in the same crispy batter. Great fish and chips, I would highly recommend!”
“Absolutely amazing food and lovely owner. Would recommend to anyone who lives near or wants a good and affordable chippy.”
“A Hidden Gem in Brighton – A Must Visit! We stumbled across Busby and Wilds by chance while looking for somewhere dog-friendly with good food — and it absolutely did not disappoint! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the owner, Emily, which instantly made us feel at home. The food was absolutely delicious and clearly made fresh with care. Every bite was spot on. It’s rare to find a place that nails the balance of great atmosphere, amazing food, and genuine hospitality. This is now my go-to spot whenever I’m in Brighton. Highly recommend!”
“Super good fish & chips. Stopped here on a (long) bike ride. Really fresh and delicious food, cooked to order. Friendly service. Highly recommended.”
“My local chippy, been going there for many many years, outstanding fresh fish and chips, expertly cooked by the family that run it. Outstanding haddock and chips tonight - go visit!”
“Excellent Fish & Chip served. Prices very reasonable. Love my favourite fish -Husk. One very large bone and full of fish meat- Delicious!! There are other varieties on the board that you can buy. Owners of Penhill Fish Bar is very courteous. You can request that the batter is not too crusty when deep fried if you prefer. Very easy to park unlike Taylor Fish Shop in the high street where vehicles are always parked even though they are not the customers.”
“Lived here for a while, happy to see a chippy open up down the road. Even happier to see they service decent food with good prices and great service. Guy that served us was friendly and offered free curry or mushy peas since it was closing soon. The battered sausage was wonderful, chips excellent and peas a great addition. It will most likely be a weekly visit here for me. Definitely recommend!”
“The fish was superb, moist with a lovely crispy batter. We prefer our chips a bit overdone but these were cooked through and also weren't greasy at all with a light crispy edge to some. One large chips perfect for two. Easy parking across the road, free after 5pm as I checked, and parking in Lewes can be a challenge!”
“The last time I was here was in 2023… for some reason Google doesn’t allow a new review just updates. Anyway I think the restaurant has changed hands recently but the quality of the food was just as good. Had the calamari, fish & chips, fish pie. All tasty and very good value. Could have done with an extra staff member as the poor waiter was running around but all in all just as good as last time (2023) Lovely restaurant with nice staff. Sitting outside in the sun was great even if on a busy road. Calamari was some of the nicest I’ve had in a long time. Dressed crab was fresh & salad accompaniment was lovely. Fish tacos were a big portion & all chips were homemade. 2starts 2 mains and a bottle of wine for just under £70. Excellent”
“This was the best fish and chips I've had for a long while. Really tasty fish and all freshly cooked. We always visit when going to the night ferry.”
“Had a wonderful day today at Ashford Shopping Centre, I like to go there at least once a year to check the bargains as it is a great place to do Christmas shopping. The Fred Perry shop is excellent value. On the way home, we visited Horace’s chip shop as we were hungry after a long day of shopping at Ashford Shopping Centre with the excellent Fred Perry shop, and we was greeted by such friendly faces, true family unity. We made a large order consisting of lots of different items, ranging from sausages,to chips, to onion rings. I am writing this review after just consuming this, and I can honestly say I have only just returned back from the fifth dimension. Absolutely Michelin starred level of goods produced, all for a price that would even be affordable to the homeless community after a heavy day of busking down Seaford Beach. The food was almost ready before I even tapped my contactless card, it was almost like I shared a telepathic connection with the owner who knew what I was going to order and already had it ready because he knew I was coming, on my way back from the Ashford shopping Centre. I have since set fire to my Christmas tree in the garden. Thank you.”
“I've been visiting Sky High Fish Bar since childhood, and it remains a standout. The family-run establishment is always welcoming, offering delicious food with impressive efficiency. It's also very affordable, especially compared to other fish and chip shops in the area. A large cod and chips costs just £10, which is fantastic value. The current staff are lovely and provide excellent service. I highly recommend Sky High Fish Bar.”
“Really enjoyed the food not only me even my little kids. They have variety of menu. I love their fish and chips, sausages even the kids love the burgers and nuggets. The quality and the quantity of their serving is great. Added more is the ambiance, the staff is good. I highly recommend their shop.”
“Good quality service like this shop is hard to find these days. Traditional, proper fish and chips.”
