“A very convenient spot to stay for a solo traveller, close to town and in a friendly part of the city. Great service by the host, couldn't have been any friendlier and warm, and the room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Also, the value for money is impeccable, I'd certainly recommend this place, and I look forward to returning!”

“We were recommended to Hughes Forrest by our builder (Nick Balaam) when we were doing our reconfiguration and wanted a more modern look for our downstairs loo. The showroom has lots of options and ideas and the team are incredibly friendly and helpful. When my mum wanted a new bathroom I had no hesitation in recommending them and they helped with the design, selection and even delivered everything to her home ready for the work to start. A really friendly team to work with - definitely recommended for any bathroom projects you might have.”

“Unique personal service, super friendly and helpful staff. High end brands at good prices, Skidmores often have superior offers on selected items which represent good value. I have bought from Brian, Mike and team whenever possible since about 1983! My Karndean kitchen floor is beautiful and I could not be any more pleased with the skill and attention to detail from start to finish with choosing, measuring and fitting my beautiful wool carpet which at the fabulous prices meant I was able to upgrade to a superior quality. The fitters Kelvin, Russell and Steve are tidy, efficient and swift showing a great deal of care moving my furniture where I hadn't been able and placing it back where it was. I could not recommend them any more highly. My home looks amazing, thank-you all.”

“A fabulous place I wish I had found before! Staff were very friendly and the bacon bun I had was delicious, good amount of bacon in a brioche bun with a side salad and crisps. Will be back for sure”

“We had a wonderful and comfortable stay here. Positives are location, comfort and the service and staff. We were able to drop our luggage to the hotel before check-in and leave it there after check-out whilst we enjoyed the vast shops of Cardiff town. The breakfast was delicious too. The only negative- we were unable to book the restaurant for dinner. The only available time was 9pm and this was when trying to book before 5pm. We were offered to sit and eat from the bar menu, however we found the music too loud to hold a conversation and the table size not suitable to sit comfortably with a meal. We therefore ordered room service. This was delivered quicker than anticipated but was tepid, the sprouts were extremely soft/soggy, the parsnips and potatoes dried out and the Turkey was dry too. That said, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Overall, I loved it.”

“Had a fantastic meal from Annie's Fish bar! The food was piping hot and the portion sizes were exactly what you want from an proper chippy! We also had a portion of Chicken curry with chips and the chicken was immense! Thank you so much guys! We will be back.”

“Had a lovely experience at Vivo Latino!! Came on a Sunday afternoon and were greeted so nicely by the owner, who made us some lovely margaritas and advised us on what to eat. Service was quick and food was yummy. The enchiladas and quesadillas were great!!! The churros were also crispy, fresh, and light as they should be. So happy with our meal. Worth the stop if you’re in the neighborhood!”

“Lovely place to visit. It's only a smallish pier easy to walk to end and back. The pier is beautifuly looked after and well maintained, public toilets on the pier were clean and well maintained. “I came here years ago, and recently heard that it's still good, so, when I was unable to eat at a nearby restaurant, I decided to check Raj Kinara out again. I'm so glad that the other restaurant has stopped serving food! My wife and I knew that this place was special the moment we walked in. The fountain in the centre and the decor were really beautiful, and a glimpse at the great experience that was to come. The complementary poppadoms and chutneys to start were very welcome. The tandoori mixed platter was large and tasted so good. The rice sides tasted great as well, but unfortunately we accidentally ordered more than we could eat (post-gym hunger convinced our brains that our stomachs were bigger than they actually are) so we did not manage to eat as much as we wanted. Fortunately, the excellent staff came to the rescue! One of the waiters suggested how many bags and containers we would need to pack up our food, so we were able to take our plentiful leftovers home. I can't wait till tomorrow to finish off what we started this evening! We're definitely coming back. The price is well worth the quantity and taste of the food and the excellent service you receive. Edit: I just came back a second time and the poppadoms are definitely not complementary. The food was still good, and I will be coming back again.”

“I had a wonderful lunch with my 2 sons at the Cwm Talwg today. I hadn’t booked a table but staff thankfully found a table for us. Lots of choice on the menu so was hard to decide !! From entering to leaving the staff were attentive and super friendly. Our orders taken promptly and food served after a short wait, staff checked twice that our meals were ok. We had no complaints !! They were delicious. I don’t think the Cwm Talwg gets the recognition it deserves which is a shame as the food was lovely. We will definitely be back. I’d recommend trying this place”

Tonight was the first night that I returned, the establishment is under new management and I can honestly say that I am more than impressed.... The warmest welcome you could ever wish for... from the management and the accommodation that we received for my disabled friend surpassed anything I've ever experienced. Reasonably priced drinks and fantastic entertainment was the order of the night. Great atmosphere and a thoroughly enjoyable night. Thank you to you and all of your staff.”

“Five of us went to celebrate a birthday. The staff were very friendly and it was a very relaxed atmosphere. The food was lovely especially the honey butter chicken drumsticks, nothing was left on our plates! The cocktails were also first class. Would definitely recommend.”

I couldn’t recommend it enough! The place itself is fairly small so would recommend booking in advance via their website or by ringing ahead. You can also get takeaway and it was very busy which must be a good sign!”

“Pros: The rooms and breakfast (which you preorder) are excellent value for money. The facilities are also excellent. Very clean inside and plenty of fresh linen from the maid if you require. Lots of food and drink places within a few minutes walk. (The Four Elms is a great pub.) Cons: Our room (6) was on the top floor with no lift. It was small but nice. There is no good view from the dormer window. The parking was OK but I didn't like leaving my car there, as there was evidence that other cars had been broken into. I took off one star from location for this reason only.”

“Second time visiting here and great staff,very polite and helpful. Lovely view too, Dogs are allowed which is nice to see. And the food was lovely. I would recommend but I know they are closing but not sure if new buyers are keeping it as a restaurant, I hope they do.”

“Wandered by just after 5. Noticed this place had an "all you can eat buffet". Ordering three dishes at a time you are served very quickly. To begin I had California Maki which was lovely served with wasabi and ginger. Then miso soup which to be honest I didn't like the large slices of mushroom and tofu. The soup overall was tasty though. I finished round 1 with prawn and chicken yakisoba. This had a king prawn with several pieces of chicken and LOTS of noodles. Round 2 consisted of crispy chicken Maki and egg fried rice with charcoal grill chicken teriyaki which was absolutely delicious. Nice place, would visit again.”
