“Beautiful pub with excellent food. Highly recommend. The menu is great and is difficult to choose from. I had the Roast beef Sunday lunch which was delicious and the best I’ve ever had. Hands down. I’ve had a few! Husband had the salmon. Loved it but I think he was secretly gutted he didn’t have the Sunday lunch. Desserts were lovely. Treacle sponge with custard and Chocolate brownie. Yummy.”

“We had exclusive hire and hosted our wedding party here. We had the best weekend! The communal space was great, the rooms were clean and tidy and the grounds were beautiful. The doors open onto the patio area and so the space flowed really well. The hostel staff were great at communicating and answering our many questions in the months before. Lots of great walks nearby and it felt very secluded. Cannot recommend this place enough!”

“Staff were lovely and friendly, my only reason for a slightly lower score is that it is fairly out of the way if you don’t bring a vehicle. However the place itself was lovely. Toilets were pristine and smelt lovely. The food was nice and the room were clean.”

“Excellent place to stay at for a couple of day, or even for longer as the place is fully equipped with everything that are necessary in our everydays: washing machine, dishwasher, cooker/hob, fridge freezer, microwave, etc. The building consists of multiple flats that are accessible through stairs only (except the ground floor one which is located opposite the main entrance). Parking available behind the property. There's a small local Sainsbury's within 3-4 minutes of walk from here. The facilities are good/suitable for both families and medium groups: ironing board and iron, wardrobes, bedside chest of drawers, large TV in the open-space kitchen, etc. The whole place is pretty clean and tidy, though there are some areas of the accomodation that would require a little bit of attention: very dusty extractors, broken bin leads or pedals, stained pillow, dusty heaters and heater cables, for example. Since it's a self services property, the access to the building and the majority of things are taken care by the guests so it's recommended to pay attention to the general cleanliness and good state of the facilities where possible. Quiet location, pretty close to the centre both by walk and bus. Recommended.”

“Just got back home to Cornwall after a lovely few days staying here. We stayed in 5A. The room was very clean and spacious. Only criticism was the step outside back door was very high really needs another step. A big thank you to Costa and Precious they were very welcoming when we arrived. Also Jake and Ben for looking after us every evening. Will definitely stay here again when visiting family.”

“We had a great week staying at Willow Barn. A peaceful location at the end of a long single track road. Plenty to do in the area . The house suited our group of 14, with ages from 16 months to over 70 ! The large kitchen table was ample for everyone to eat together ,and the living area, with lovely comfortable sofas, were wonderful to sit on at the end of the day. The beds were comfortable and whilst perhaps the showers were not the most up to date, they were adequate. The kitchen was well equipped with a full range of great saucepans . As we cooked everyday, this was a real bonus. We hired the hot tub for the whole week and it was a real treat to soak in the hot water with a glass of wine chatting and gazing out over the view. Perhaps a line of plants in pots to provide a small degree of privacy between Willow Barn and the next barn would have been appreciated. One huge bonus was the 'Kids cave' from where the children were allowed to chose toys to play with for the whole week. Definitely a real treat for them. We loved the outdoor field, shame we could not get down to the lake, but plenty of other places to explore. We had a wonderful week of family fun.”

“Me and visual impaired gentleman visited the robin hood for a carvery and to watch the entertainment. The staff were lovely and couldn't of been anymore helpful with helping me assist the gentleman I was with. All the locals in the pub were very chatty and welcoming. The Sunday carvery was all fresh and homemade absolutely lovely! The entertainment was outside and very brilliant!”

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had our wedding at The Kedleston Country House on 4th October 2025 and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The venue itself is so elegant and beautifully maintained, creating the most stunning backdrop for our day. Everything ran so smoothly, and a huge thank you goes to Helen, who was simply amazing — so organised, friendly, and made us feel completely at ease throughout the whole process. The tapas menu was incredible; our guests couldn’t stop talking about how delicious it was! We had so many compliments on both the food and the overall atmosphere. If you’re looking for a wedding venue that combines elegance, excellent service, and a relaxed, welcoming vibe, I couldn’t recommend The Kedleston Country House more highly!”

“A fabulous hotel with two golf courses. There is an imposing entrance as you approach Breadsall Priory. The main hotel is surrounded by the Priory golf course. It's a testing, undulating course in a mature parkland setting, which was in excellent condition. We couldn't play the Moorlands course due to heavy overnight rain, which closed both courses on our second day. The hotel was impressive too, although it's a bit of a maze finding your room. You can get to your room without leaving the building, but the rooms are an extension of the original building, so there are lots of twists & turns & up & down stairs. My only gripe with the room was the bathroom. After having a shower, there was a pool of water by the side of the bath as the showerscreen didn't seal against it. When I mentioned it to members of our group, they'd had the same problem. Everyone commented on how good the food was. The restaurant was big enough to give everyone space without drowning out people who wanted a quiet evening. Breakfast was a buffet style with coffee & tea machines. Staff were friendly & helpful. There is also a swimming pool & spa facilities.”

“We ate in the pub, but didn't have a room. The pub and surroundings were very comfortable and clean. We were given a warm welcome and our food and drink orders were delivered promptly. Not many vegan options, so we both had the flatbread with bbq cauliflower "wings". It was very tasty, with chunks of bell pepper, onion, tomato, and squash, drizzled with a tasty but not overpowering BBQ sauce, served with fresh greens on a large, soft flatbread with a side of fries. We both enjoyed it. Washed down with a pint of cherries and berries cider (I couldn't help but smile when I heard the hostess singing our order) it was good for a hot day after a hike from the boat on the nearby canal, and we left in good spirits. If you go, don't be confused by the duplicate location on Google maps which points to someone's house! You want the one on the corner across from the bridge. The error has been reported to Google.”

“Only a one night stay . Staff extremely friendly and welcoming , nothing too much trouble . The pizzas were spot on , really enjoyed them . Continental breakfast more than enough would definitely recommend for a stay , ideally located to the town centre and other activities. Only slight fault , room needed a little bit of tlc but nothing major and certainly didn’t spoil our enjoyment. Would stay here again when we return to belper .”

“I stayed in 4 hostels in England during my vacation and this was the best. Clean, professional and personal. The building is well kept and the staff were super friendly. The wifi is fine, the kitchen has everything you would need. Free tea and coffee. The painting on the walls really gives it a casual feel. The bathrooms are like that of a house. The location is pretty sweet. It was generally quiet too with the exception of some neighbors drinking.”

“We stayed here as part of the Alton towers break, and what a good choice we made with this hotel. We arrived at about 2015 after a full day at Alton towers and was greeted with a warmest of welcomes. We ate in the restaurant and the burger was home made and the wife and boy both said it was lovely. I had the pork with bacon and black pudding which was honestly the best meal I have had in a long time (the black pudding was the best ever). The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The continental breakfast had a wide range of foods and was lovely, I treated myself to the pancakes and bacon which was worth the extra money. Definitely worth a stay.”

“We had a fantastic 4 day break in one of the caravans on site, lovely family friendly ground with a nice quiet vibes but plenty of space for our toddlers to play. Nice little shop for essentials and a decent little pool. No bar or restaurant on site but a breakfast van came in the mornings and there is a little hut selling burgers and wraps on an evening, burgers were really good. Only slight gripe was there was no towels supplied in our caravan which is fine if we had known, and the double bed in our caravan was the hardest bed I’ve ever slept in, didn’t catch a good night sleep in the time we were there. Excellent location with plenty walks and cycle routes close to Ashbourne and Matlock. We will be back”

“Lovely camptite. Very friendly staff. Nice pub on site. Food quite pricey but looked good, burgers and pizza. Its open to full sunshine with no shade but they eventually put a few umbrellas up. Swimming pool nice, not too big but clean. No loungers but some bench tables, again no shade. Small kids pool too that gets very busy, especially at weekends! Good shop that stocks essentials plus some camping gear. Electric hookup extensions are about 30 quid and you may need one as the electric posts are every 3 pitches! Gets very busy at weekends!”

“Magnificent. Room size ideal and with Dog well catered for. Only small issue was with Dog, and its understandable we could not eat in a normal dining room with the Dog, the room we could eat in had a really low table lounge table which made it difficult to eat which is why we did not book breakfast as we could not leave the dog alone in room. This did not detract from anything but should be made clear that you cannot eat normally with a dog.”
