“Great food and reasonable priced, exceptional service with all staff being very attentive. Great atmosphere with eclectic decor with nod to Scottish heritage. Nod to the Scottish map on ceiling”
“Had some refreshments on way to Oasis concert. Great atmosphere and excellent service even though the place was overflowing. Great outside seating.”
“Service was great. Food was high quality. Beers and whisky all top shelf. We came at lunch time on a work day so there wasn't much going on in terms of atmosphere but that's what we were looking for. Recommend especially on a cold December day”
“We came this afternoon fo food and drink service was outstanding a support was amazing . Lorna team leader went out her way to fix wrong drink I ordered. Over all staff was friendly. Didn’t feel rushed felt welcomed. Ofer all defo visit here again . The food and deserts was outstanding 100% very happy .”
“Came in for a drink last night and there was a great atmosphere in the pub. Enjoyed my drink chatting to a lovely young guy who I believe was maybe in charged called Luke. He was very welcoming and friendly as were the rest of the team. Would pop in again”
“Great little pub in the heart of Edinburgh. Small but efficient selection of beers on tap and cask, and a relatively good selection of whiskies and spirits as well. The bartenders are both fun to chat with, and good at their jobs. Highly recommend!”
“The guy at the bar was fantastic and pleasant. The food was also super tasty. Had a meaty pizza and chicken wings, super enjoyed them. I was there by midday and it looked like it would have a fantastic vibe at night.”
“Joshua did a subtle soft sell of the Haggis Fritters to this old Louisiana Cajun. I had to declare they were “ c'est bon”. The haggis fritters tasted a bit like boudin balls without the rice. The Belhaven Stout was full tasting without being heavy on the tongue. So if you’re a first time Haggis eater, then head on down to the Advocate and ask for Joshua.”
“Great bar to watch some sport or have some beer and food. The wings are amazing and the large portion might be the biggest portion I have ever seen. Maybe I'm getting old but when they put the commentary on for the EPL game I was watching it was too loud. Staff were very friendly, especially the manager who was helping us try find a good table.”
“Great selection of drinks and the guys behind the bar were really nice, suggesting stuff. Too bad I arrived late and couldn’t have food.”
“- Pretty interior, orange walls make the decorum even more festive during winter - Place is close to the city centre, there's also free wi-fi - Tea was refreshing, got two pots - Delicious scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and fresh salad - Helpful waiter and good service”
“Order at your table. Food is great and delivered fast. Drinks are reasonable compared to a lot of Edinburgh. We had groups of 16 no issues. Was busy on the weekends but ok during the weekdays.”
“Modern interiors set within the converted arches next to Edinburgh Waverley station (car park/Market Street side) A contemporary bar downstairs with a sleek restaurant upstairs. We were walk-ins on a friday night but they found us a table within 15 minutes. Super friendly waitresses (Ayesha served us and was brilliant!) Sharing Steak was beautifully presented but a bit under seasoned, which was easily remedied with salt and pepper. MIL loved her burger. Sticky toffee apple cake was the winning dessert. Friendly swift attentive service and a vibrant atmosphere. Perfect arrival meal into Edinburgh”
“Amazing as always with out a doubt the atmosphere is impeccable, food is amazing the flavours just explode in your mouth plenty verity of drinks to choose from, service is top notch, staff are always welcoming and happy to assist with any needs to accommodate as well as they can. Will always be my go to spot when I’m in the city.”
“It was a cold wet night. Not many folk were about and we enjoyed what we set out for, a quiet candle lit dinner for 2. Our waitress was very kind and helpful and while not the normal busy atmosphere the vibe I caught was of staff who worked hard and try to set a good standard. The food was excellent.”
“Fabulous venue and very different. Great pianist playing classic songs in his own twist. Very clean, really good fun”
“Arrived shortly after opening at 10am and taken to a window table beside the bar. Efficient staff, although not over friendly. Excellent menu with a good selection. Prices reasonable and food was fresh and tasty.”
“Best Indian food in SCOTLAND hands down. Does not matter what you order is all amazing. Staff is great and place is clean.”
“A great pub and a good atmosphere, along with reasonably priced drinks. Popped in twice over the weekend while off to see a show & was busy, but friendly. Drinks are much cheaper than they are priced in some places too.”

“Friendly staff interesting clients..Barley sheaf no money, or card, but here I am three pints in. Such a friendly crowd.”
“Dropped of relatives here as they are staying in the hotel whilst in town. We were allowed to leave their luggage as it was too soon to check in but we decided to have some lunch in the hotel restaurant. Food was fantastic, plenty and reasonably inexpensive. A lunch for 5 plus drinks was £60. Great service, fresh food, cheerful staff. Would highly recommend a visit.”
