“I liked the atmosphere. Not the best quality food but it’s really cheap and fine. The best prices in the town both for food and drink.”
“Lovely place for tasty food, great staff and good drinks selection. Clean & tidy also.”
“Good food. Fast friendly service. You can always tell when Andy is working as it all runs smoothly. Four stars for atmosphere because it was a Wednesday night and quiet. Shame the steak is off the set menu but appreciate the price of beef at the moment.”
“I had heard from my neice about the mixed grill in the Saltire and I'm glad she suggested it as it was the best meal I have had in a very long time it was stunning. I said to Nathan that I enjoyed my meal more than I had in other places and I said I would be back for more and I certainly will be soon. Top food and service made even better with Nathan asking if everything was fine mid meal.”
“Had a fantastic visit here with friends. We went in for lunch and were told about the new which had just started the previous day. We took the koftas based on recommendation from the member of staff and really enjoyed them. Good service from friendly staff. Noticed an advertisement for a quiz on a Thursday so will need to go back for that soon. Keep up the good work”
“Love this little pub. Great to go to for a quiet drink or with a group of friends. Bar staff are lovely and the drinks are really good value.”
“Didn't have food but sure it would have been lovely”
“Great wee boozer,even better staff”
“The food is scored based on a good packet of crisps. Good local pub. Pool table. Decent pint. Don't need anything else.”
“Friendly staff and locals pool table”
“Sound Leith boozer. Choons, Pool table, darts, TV. Regulars are easy-going, staff and management mix well with both regulars and new faces. A warm welcome. Get in.”
“The Coach and Horses is under new management - it's a dog friendly, welcoming local with a good range of live music, karaoke and fab jukebox. Recommend a visit.”
“Always get great quality food with fab prices. Staff all friendly and helpful. Great selection of drinks as well. Nice atmosphere and decor too”
“Traditional British gay pub and live entertainment throughout the week and disgo music in-between. Very busy Friday nights and Saturdays.”
“Took the kids in for an early dinner and the staff were really good with them. The pizza was a hit and the place had a nice, relaxed family-friendly vibe for the early evening.”
“Brilliant pub, cheap drinks, lovely staff, get yourself along for a pint or nip or wine.”
“Traditional pub (hard to find nowadays), fair selection of beers & spirits at reasonable prices, good atmosphere, mostly friendly, funny locals, good jukebox & tvs for the sport. Disabled toilet on the level & others up the stairs. If up that way again, I will definitely go back.”
“Great staff fairly priced and always a brilliant banter. Love this wee place as the usual crowd at the bar and the staff are always up for a laugh and giggle makes it feel at home everytime.”
“Informal and cozy diner style place with signed guitars and old vinyls stuck on the walls and in the ceiling. We had a wonderful evening with amazing food - the Braveheart Burger topped with haggis was SO tasty! Jordan, our waitor, was the nicest person. We came around 18:45, so not too busy as they close at 20:00. The portions are huge, so come hungry. Highly recommended!”
“Such a friendly and welcoming staff! The chicken mushroom hand pie is delicious-the crust is so flaky and the filling savory. Along with the Guinness, this is such a great respite in a long day of cancelled and delayed trains.”
“Was there today and very surprised with the improvements made since I was there 18 months ago. the food and beverage offerings were really good. the receptionist when I arrived at 9am did a great job explaining the changes and the team on at noon also was also on the ball.”
“Fantastic bar just at the head of Cowgate with tons of fantastic drinks, great food, very friendly staff, and enough events to keep you entertained and coming back day after day. I'm a bit of a karaoke fiend myself, and this is one of the few places in Edinburgh where you can properly get up on front of the room and sing your heart out. The host is very encouraging, and makes sure you feel welcome. This is now going to be a regular haunt of mine when I'm in Edinburgh.”
“This is my first day in Edinburgh and I found this Indian restaurant nearby. The staff (Chef Varun and boy Krishh) here was polite and so helpful. The cozy environment here increases more appetite and the food here can not be described that tasty, must visit place.”
“One of the best halloumi cheeseburger i ever eat Excellent coffee, excellent veggie menu”
“Haggis- I tried it and it was very good. We had the deep fried mushrooms also, the steak was very good and the Brie salad with raspberry sauce was great—-I am sorry the picture does not do it justice. There is an inside restaurant and a patio. The festival has been popping for the whole month of August and they are still engaging people with great hospitality.”
“I went to lunch there before taking the train back home. Service was good, the waitresses are nice and kind. The food was excellent, the meat was perfectly cooked and the sauce was tasty. I recommend to go there if you're hungry. Portions are big too, so have that on consideration before taking an appetizer, because you may have no more appetite for the main course”
“We were staying down near the zoo, and this place was fairly close to us. We found the atmosphere to be nice, the place was very clean. We had fish and chips, and the steak pie. Both were very delicious. We tried to come back a few days later, but they were so busy with a large party, the were not serving food until 8pm and we were starving ... it was 6:30. Wish we could've tried another couple dishes before we left.”
“Busy at the bar when we came in but was still served quicker than expected, I love a carvery here , never disappointed with my own gravy jug”
