“The Green Owl is a great cafe bar. There is a very large selection of draught beers lager and cider including three cask conditioned hand-pulled real ales which were in excellent condition on our visit. There is also a large cocktail menu. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and there is a nice covered outside seating area. We went to see the live music, the band, The Ekoes were excellent. It's a lively bar definitely worth visiting.”

The young staff member was genuinely welcoming and helpful, someone any manager would wish to have representing the business. Food was tasty and fresh meaning it was decent value as well as being really quickly served.”

“We stopped here for lunch and we thought the food, the price and the service was spot on. Delicious hot sandwiches with a tasty side. All of the light bites are meant to be half size, but the portions are very generous and suited my 12 year old perfectly. Staff were friendly and genuine. Much appreciated and would happily recommend this for a casual lunch spot.”

“I had a phenomenal experience here last week! Popped in for brunch on a Sunday and the service was truly amazing. A lovely guy called Alfie looked after us. I was enquiring about any vegan options and Alfie was so patient and kind, he went out of his way to arrange for the vegetarian breakfast to be made vegan. I asked if it was possible to turn the music down upstairs as I have hearing loss and expected it to be a bit of a hassle, Alfie was an angel and acted like it was no big deal at all and very quickly resolved this. Alfie was just the most friendly, sweet and helpful guy, nothing was too much trouble for him to help us with, and he came across as a really genuine person that takes the time to treat all customers like they're friends, he created such a welcoming vibe and I felt really at ease even though I'm a bit awkward with my hearing! It was the best service I've had in a long time, and if Alfie isn't a manager he definitely deserves a raise, he made us want to come back again and again. The only slight suggestion I have, separate to anything practical, is for the menu to outline vegan options. I used to come in many years ago and they always had vegan options noted on the menu. There wasn't anything stated as vegan on the menu and the veggie breakfast had to be modified rather than being able to order a vegan breakfast. If I hadn't been planning to meet my friend there I might have been put off and assumed vegans weren't really provided for. It would go a long way just having a few options on the menu or noting what is vegan. Simple stuff like a vegan fry up (hash browns, beans, tomatoes, toast with vegan margarine, mushrooms, vegan sausages), avocado on toast, beans on toast. Regardless, we'd definitely be back as it was the best service we've had in Hull! Thanks Alfie. You're a legend.”

“Superb place with a quirky interior and excellent location situated on the marina. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast offer was good and our choice of avocado toast and a breakfast sarnie was very tasty. Definitely recommend.”

“The food is great, whatever i have had, the sunday dinner is lovely, they do a small which is just the right size for me and you get a choice of which meat you want. The inside is quite small compared to some pubs, not too big, you can sit outside, There is always room though when we have gone. Its in a small villiage called Preston on the outskirts of Hull. Friendly people. If i can add photos later i will as im sure we will be there again soon.”

“Loverly food. Not carvery, which is what I'd searched Google for, but that's not fault of the pub! However, excellent portion sizes, great food, well cooked meat and they were super-helpful in swapping the meat for halloumi as my veggie son didn't like the veggie option on the menu. Absolutely packed with people clearly enjoying celebrations with family/friends but didn't stop our table feeling comfortable and private. Very good value, we'll definitely go again. It's advisable to book in advance...it's clearly popular”

Outstanding entertainment Dale is the best compare I've ever seen and Maggie is so lovely you feel part of the family that's Maggie for you. Then there's Katie so funny but very attentive i adore this ACE pub from the traditional decor to the warm staff not to mention the entertainment and Awsome music it has everything you need for that fab night out. “What a fab events bar! We booked it for a children's party and it was perfect. The staff were super helpful and very friendly. Plenty of room for the entertainment and dancing. “What a beautiful old fashioned pub, I’ll be honest when I turned left into the bar area I almost immediately regretted that decision as I saw doom bar was one of the choices of ales…. As there is a small minority who prefer a pint of sick in a glass I opted for wainwright, now I’ve never really enjoyed this pint but it was the best out of the 3 on offer (tetleys the other) honestly the wainwright was perfection in a glass, talked to the locals about it who said it’s the best pint in Beverley, well I’ve done a few pubs here now and I can honestly say he was right. “We were first in the door at midday so atmosphere wasn't pumping. We'd just walked the dog up West Wood fields and enjoyed a lovely pint of Guinness and some chunky chips. Dog was welcome too. Staff were friendly and accomidating. We will be back again for a Sunday roast”
