“Great little pub , bar staff were excellent , got served really quickly and enjoyed a couple of pints prior to a Hull City game , will certainly return .”
“Thoroughly enjoyed our recent visit here. The food was very tasty and portion size very generous to say the least. We will visit again. My wife had a large glass of white wine which appeared to be a medium size and it was £9.50, this was the only negative thing.”
“What a beautiful old fashioned pub, I’ll be honest when I turned left into the bar area I almost immediately regretted that decision as I saw doom bar was one of the choices of ales…. As there is a small minority who prefer a pint of sick in a glass I opted for wainwright, now I’ve never really enjoyed this pint but it was the best out of the 3 on offer (tetleys the other) honestly the wainwright was perfection in a glass, talked to the locals about it who said it’s the best pint in Beverley, well I’ve done a few pubs here now and I can honestly say he was right. A proper pub Landlord and land lady behind the bar Wainwright 10/10 Thank you very much I’ll be back”
“Saw this from the Yorkshireman food blogger, it didn't disappoint. Had the chateaubriand sharing platter, which was stunning! Empanadas and squid starters were delicious. Staff were friendly. Planning to come back later in the year with friends”
“Good range of cask beer, great staff.”

Thanks to the hard working staff who were blown away by the band we will see you again. MLLH&R Mike Area Coordinator Mental Health Motorbike.”
“Staff very friendly. Fish & chip Fridays are excellent.”
“Absolutely great night , friendly staff great atmosphere”
“Finally made it to The Ship. What a great little friendly pub. Excellent stouts on tap, the chocolate brownie one was lush. Wish I'd known about the Friday fish & chip meal thing (you need to order by Thursday) as it was ENORMOUS & smelled divine. They do big Sunday breakfast for a tenner, again pre-order required. Will definitely be back to this little local gem. Thanks for the hospitality :)”
“Not been in that pub in 20 odd years since I lived on the marshes just recently moved back into the village.not much has changed inside or outside.it was like coming out of a time machine.exeot pool table relocated dart board in exactly the same place. Different land Lords and that's the only changes in all those years a lot less people in the pub on the night we went in for our first village pint.”
“Friendly Family run pub, serving a variety of quality drinks at relatively inexpensive prices. A proper locals local, and short distance walk from 3 other pubs in Wednesday Market (2) and Toll Gavel (1), before the main Market Square”
“I just dropped in on Friday night, after a gig. The people could not have been more welcoming. So much so that me, my girlfriend and the dog spent a lively Saturday night there. Simple, proper, honest pub with a great atmosphere.”
“The Dairycoats Inn has really improved since its refurbishment, creating a fresh and inviting atmosphere. The busy quiz nights are a highlight, adding energy and fun to the place. The vibe is great, with friendly customers that make it even more enjoyable. A solid choice for a lively evening out!”
“Very welcoming, friendly people”
“Great local pub! Friendly atmosphere”
“Great match day boozer full of City memorabilia. Highly recommend a pre or post pint in here if you're a Tigers fan. It can have a great atmosphere and you might get treat to a visit from the Chairman himself.”
“We went with friends for Sunday lunch. They don't have the Sunday roast or carvery like a lot of places, but this didn't bother us as we are not massive fans of carveries. Three had steaks, and one had the large gammon. They were all very good. The service was good considering they were quite busy. Will go back.”
“Great night with great entertainment, beer and spirits are cheap and served with a smile. Bingo, tote, play your cards right and a Sunday night quiz something for all. It’s a cheap night with friends you haven’t met yet, come and give them a visit and ask about membership.”
“Nice social club. Good beers and atmosphere”
“The Green Owl is a great cafe bar. There is a very large selection of draught beers lager and cider including three cask conditioned hand-pulled real ales which were in excellent condition on our visit. There is also a large cocktail menu. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and there is a nice covered outside seating area. We went to see the live music, the band, The Ekoes were excellent. It's a lively bar definitely worth visiting.”
“After reading previous reviews and worrying about previous comments, I can honestly say our experience was far more relaxed and positive. Lovely location in a very quiet village. The weekend was fairly quiet even with nearly all the pitches taken. It wasn't rowdy, which if I'm honest I was expecting this from the comments, everyone seemed respectful on our stay. The pub food was amazing value for money and tasted really nice. If your looking for activities you will have to travel away from the campsite to the local towns, we travelled to Goole to the shops and free museum, good for young children. I think if your looking for a site just to relax, this would be the one and if you like to have a drink in the evening and a game of pool they have a small cosey pub on site. Showers are very nice and clean and to be honest the £1 per 2 minutes on the machine actually helps keep the queues down at the showers, not once did I need to queue and I showered every morning. It was a bank holiday weekend at the end of April, The Manager was present a lot over the weekend doing general maintenance on the site which definitely shows well as it seemed well kept when we stayed. I honestly wouldn't let the reviews put you off. It's worth at least experiencing once! If you have young children it may be best to bring more activities along with you as my daughter got a little bored but only because other campers went out for the day and she was alone, there is a small children's park for the kids though. I'd say that's the only thing missing is some daytime entertainment at the pub to bring everyone together. However the manager has his reasons for not opening during the day which is understandable. It may be a nice idea to open a small grocery shop on site? Not sure if this has been thought about but would be handy to be able to buy a few bits on site instead of driving out but again probably the cost that would be involved may put the owner off doing so. Again totally understandable. My mum came to stay in the little rooms with ensuites that have availability, which was nice and cosy. So if you have friends who won't camp, it's ideal for them to book a room instead! All in all it was a pleasant stay. We would definitely come back in the near future if we want a relaxing break. Also the pitch we camped on was very well sheltered and the manager said he usually puts tents in this area. On other sites we usually feel the wind on the tent slot but this site we barely felt the tent moving in higher winds because it's very well sheltered! Big bonus and good for first time campers who don't want to be put off.”
“Couldn’t have been more pleased with the humorous service. Very welcoming staff and absolutely amazing food. I asked for a recommendation on the menu and wasn’t disappointed. The quality of food and service was worth coming to visit! Warm, welcoming and to top off, the best roast!”
“Loverly food. Not carvery, which is what I'd searched Google for, but that's not fault of the pub! However, excellent portion sizes, great food, well cooked meat and they were super-helpful in swapping the meat for halloumi as my veggie son didn't like the veggie option on the menu. Absolutely packed with people clearly enjoying celebrations with family/friends but didn't stop our table feeling comfortable and private. Very good value, we'll definitely go again. It's advisable to book in advance...it's clearly popular”
“The food here is excellent with a good choice of different meals and desserts. The portion sizes are very large.”
“Superb place with a quirky interior and excellent location situated on the marina. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast offer was good and our choice of avocado toast and a breakfast sarnie was very tasty. Definitely recommend.”
“We were here for my husband s Aunties wake. And boy did they do her proud. Plenty of seating. Clean and tidy. Staff lovely and friendly. The food was excellent. You want everything to run smoothly and it certainly did. Toilets clean and accessible.”
“I can’t recommend The Pelican enough — this place absolutely nails what a great pub should be. From the moment we walked in, it had that warm, welcoming atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. the staff are fantastic and friendly, top-tier service, and a brilliant vibe all around. Highly recommended — we’ll definitely be back!”
“Top New Year's Eve venue - for atmosphere, door & bar staff, music, dancing & drinks. Went with friends and made more. We didn't have a meal hence no stars there. Shots were pretty good though!”
“A total British pub experience. An interesting diverse tasty menu. Good rices & fast service. A fantastic ub meal or place to drink & chat”
“I had a phenomenal experience here last week! Popped in for brunch on a Sunday and the service was truly amazing. A lovely guy called Alfie looked after us. I was enquiring about any vegan options and Alfie was so patient and kind, he went out of his way to arrange for the vegetarian breakfast to be made vegan. I asked if it was possible to turn the music down upstairs as I have hearing loss and expected it to be a bit of a hassle, Alfie was an angel and acted like it was no big deal at all and very quickly resolved this. Alfie was just the most friendly, sweet and helpful guy, nothing was too much trouble for him to help us with, and he came across as a really genuine person that takes the time to treat all customers like they're friends, he created such a welcoming vibe and I felt really at ease even though I'm a bit awkward with my hearing! It was the best service I've had in a long time, and if Alfie isn't a manager he definitely deserves a raise, he made us want to come back again and again. The only slight suggestion I have, separate to anything practical, is for the menu to outline vegan options. I used to come in many years ago and they always had vegan options noted on the menu. There wasn't anything stated as vegan on the menu and the veggie breakfast had to be modified rather than being able to order a vegan breakfast. If I hadn't been planning to meet my friend there I might have been put off and assumed vegans weren't really provided for. It would go a long way just having a few options on the menu or noting what is vegan. Simple stuff like a vegan fry up (hash browns, beans, tomatoes, toast with vegan margarine, mushrooms, vegan sausages), avocado on toast, beans on toast. Regardless, we'd definitely be back as it was the best service we've had in Hull! Thanks Alfie. You're a legend.”
