“It's About Time!!!! We are local and have been coming here for years.. always tried the food but never been overly impressed so it's always just been a drink but this is the second time now in a month and the food was incredible!! Service was great and food piping hot fresh and home cooked! There's a new owner and was kind enough to come over and introduce himself. The pub had such a great atmosphere and had an amazing night! My wife loved the fish and I loved the ribs they were huge! Thanks so much and will 100% be back again very soon!”

“Really enjoyed our Christmas lunch at The Royal Oak today. Staff couldn't have been more pleasant and attentive to our needs plus special fusses for our son and daughter in law to bes dogs and turkey treats from the kitchen for them too. We humans were treated to the most delicious food, we all savoured our starters, mains and desserts. Nothing was too much trouble. Our compliments to the chef and all the staff who worked really hard today so we could enjoy a fabulous, relaxing Christmas day.”

“Been coming here for many years before it was a Green King pub. First visit under the Green King ownership and it didn't disappoint, quite the opposite. I need to mention the chap with the beard behind the bar on the evening of Thursday 20th November, what a pleasure he was. Fantastic friendly service a breath of fresh air. Food and drink were fab too. Been to Green Kings all over the country and this was one of the best. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

“We stopped by this pub on a whim after facing a long wait at Toby Carvery—and we’re so glad we did! What started as a backup plan turned into a brilliant surprise. The food was absolutely spot on: full of flavour, perfectly cooked, and clearly made with care. The service was just as impressive—friendly, attentive, and more than happy to accommodate custom tweaks to our orders without hesitation. It’s rare to find a place that nails both the food and the hospitality, but this one truly delivered. Top marks from us. We’ll definitely be back—and next time, it’ll be our first choice!”

“Nice friendly pub that serves good quality food and the staff go out of their way to be helpful. Had a great meal and they kept the kitchen open a bit later so we could have a dessert. This will become a regular haunt when we are visiting our daughter in future.”

The staff were helpful and friendly, as well as making sure we were topped up. Fodd was absolutely delicious. We definitely got our money's worth. Would highly recommend, you won't be disappointed. “Wonderful place, just look at the photo of my mixed grill. The service was good, food was great and the place was nice. One thing that I particularly liked is the large menu with plenty of choice. The only thing that I would do to make it even better would be for them to have real chips.”

“Came here early on a Friday night for a meal for 2. The Christmas menu had just came into effect and was superb, we both had the portabello mushroom to start, the slow braised beef with winter veg for mains and I also managed to fit in the warm chocolate brownie with ice cream for dessert. The service was impeccable and Callum who I think is either the supervisor or manager had an immediate knowledge of kitchen stock when we asked for oysters (we ended up getting 10 of the remaining 12!) The other male server was very friendly, attentive but not to the point of annoyance and made sure we had everything we needed and even anticipated that we might want extra plates and cutlery when sharing the dessert. The only improvements I can think of would be to ensure cutlery arrives before or concurrently with the food. I waited for a couple of minutes salivating in front of my brownie before the spoons arrived. However this didn’t detract from the whole experience. Also, a mobile card machine would be more convenient.”

“Really great traditional pub with pool table and outside beer garden. Not too expensive either. The locals are all friendly. And the owners are the nicest people I have met. Look out for events like 80s night and karaoke.”

“It's a starbucks. Staff are nice enough, place is gorgeous, and drinks are good. Just standard quality that you would expect which is what you expect from them. Although the staff in this one always seem a little clinical.”

“Lovely place, last minute decision from us after a long day. Lovely candle lit dinner and amazing food! The young lady was very attentive and handled everything brilliantly so hats off to you. My only snag was I asked the younger guy for another drink and It never arrived so had to ask the lady for one instead but that’s very minor. All in all I would recommend 10/10”
