“We are a party of eight who spent the evening celebrating our friends 60th birthday. Could not fault anything. The most delicious food, all served freshly prepared and good and hot. We were thoroughly looked after by Cristi and all the staff, never made to wait but not rushed either. It was plain that they really cared about giving us excellent service all evening. Many thanks and congratulations to them.”

“Popped in after a delayed journey of 4 hours so not happy. Went in because next door to the hotel, Beers were superb from a brewery we don't see down south. Menu was good, food was excellent quality and would have expected to pay more for. If it wasn't all homemade it certainly tasted like it was. Staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful without being overbearing. So good we didn't bother looking to go elsewhere on our second night in Chester and it was just as good although mysteriously quiet on a Saturday night? So atmosphere different to the Friday but hey, if this pub was 200 miles closer to me id never be out of it. We hope to be back and will make a point of it if in the area.”

“What a fantastic turnaround the Landlady, Tina, has made with this pub. I have nothing but praise for her. I wouldn't class myself as a regular but do live nearby. Over the years, I have frequented this establishment very sporadically but on the more recent visits, I can't help but be impressed. The clientele are a good mix of ages and in my experience when visiting, they appear to be just down to earth, good people, just wanting to celebrate the weekend in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. My partner & i had a great night in there on Saturday. There was an excellent Dolly Parton tribute act on, the place was packed & the atmosphere was sensational. At no point did I sense any alcohol induced aggro nor did I have to put up with drugs being taken on the toilet visits, a big plus for me personally. Just good people having a great time. Well done Tina & your team. You should be very proud of your achievements thus far and it can only be onwards & upwards for you now. See you soon.”

“A little sceptical about it as it does seem like it's a ale house that just attracts drinkers. However I was pleasantly surprised. Its definitely isn't high class but its friendly. I would definitely go again”

“Popped in as haven't been for such a long time. Restaurant was fairly full, and atmosphere quite jolly. All tables were clean and well spaced. Shown to table and menu provided. Owner reminded us that they were unlicenced and if alcohol was required the off licence near by was open. The staff were very attentive. Meal was really good, well spiced and really flavoursome. If you want a friendly no hassle pint then the Albany is the place you need to be. Absolutely love it and drive there from st Helen's on a regular basis for a great night out. Just go. After eating a pizza made by Italian master chef I was frustrated I couldn’t find anything similar, even in the biggest cities such as London. This evening I found it here. Literally this is the place. Hat down to people who own this place and make magic happen. High quality ingredients make all the difference in the world along with the perfect dough.”

“Extremely small place, very cramped! 4 small tables with limited seating. Very clean, bright and modern. Quickly fills as it seems very popular. Staff went above and beyond to help me order, being super friendly and helpful. Portion sizes are very generous and steaming hot when served or packed for takeaway. Signature Satay Squid Skewer: the sauce was spicy and nutty, and the squid was chewy and smooth. Pork in Cantonese Sauce with rice: the large portion of pork was cooked well; not too tough, but with some bite, and smothered in the Cantonese Sauce with a sufficient amount of sticky rice to soak it up with. The sauce was sweet, sticky and plentiful. Overall, very satisfying food and a generous amount of it.”

“We were looking for a Chinese and found Hong Liang. Just note they ONLY TAKE CASH, so take some. They are very reasonable and the food was amazing and big portions.....the ladies were absolutely lovely too. Absolutely go here as you won’t be disappointed. We had mixed curry with salt & pepper chips, salt & pepper chicken, special chop suey and sweet and sour chicken. Stunning! Absolute recommend it”
