“Always a nice warm welcome from Barbara + Ray who have been running this establishment for over 35 years and have always kept it a nice traditional pub with a nice warm welcome for regulars and visitors alike and make nice hosts.”

“Amazing food and wonderful staff. Restaurant is lovely. Marking atmosphere as 4* only due to how loud it was (which is to be expected) but I'm sensitive to noise and it affected my experience. Can't fault the staff, they were perfect. Whoever was working 5th Aug in the evening are awesome.”

“Very much enjoyed a sweet treat and fruit juice on my visit. The service was perfect and all the staff attentive and friendly. The surroundings; a little bit of old fashioned luxury. I was seated at 11.45am and the restaurant was really starting to fill up by 12.15pm so I would recommend booking in advance if possible. The caramel, chocolate and crumble tart shown was heavenly!”

“As a regular at Neighbourhood for lunch when in Chester , we booked private room for our son and daughter in laws wedding celebration evening. The small annex room was perfect for a small gathering. Service excellent and the small plates menu we had chosen were all freshly prepared to a high standard. Highly recommended.”

“Came here on Saturday with a group of friends for Bottomless Brunch. The service was exceptional, couldn't find a fault. The staff were helpful and friendly, as well as making sure we were topped up. Fodd was absolutely delicious. We definitely got our money's worth. Would highly recommend, you won't be disappointed. “I arrived at my reservation earlier than others had booked to dot a change i. Scheduled. When I arrived at the restaurant I explained the situation. Without a doubt they sat me down. The service was quick and effective. Food was perfect. I had a great time in a great atmosphere”

“Great breakfast nicely cooked 3 full English breakfast and one fried egg on toast. It would be nice if the staff smiled a bit. It sometimes feels as though it's a " think yourself lucky you are being served," approach to customer service. It was busy at the time to be fair, and the staff looked pushed. But I've had the same when it isn't busy. Will persevere as the food is tasty and good value.”

“Can't fault this establishment. Had to pass some time in mold and decided to spend an hour here while I waited. Bar staff were very quick at serving even though it was a busy Saturday night! Seemed abit skeptical when I first ordered but 3 drinks later staff seemed more chatty and friendly. Very good vibes, several TVs, plenty of seating. For a first time visit they definitely exceeded expectations. I'll definitely visit in the future!”

“Came here early on a Friday night for a meal for 2. The Christmas menu had just came into effect and was superb, we both had the portabello mushroom to start, the slow braised beef with winter veg for mains and I also managed to fit in the warm chocolate brownie with ice cream for dessert. The service was impeccable and Callum who I think is either the supervisor or manager had an immediate knowledge of kitchen stock when we asked for oysters (we ended up getting 10 of the remaining 12!) The other male server was very friendly, attentive but not to the point of annoyance and made sure we had everything we needed and even anticipated that we might want extra plates and cutlery when sharing the dessert. The only improvements I can think of would be to ensure cutlery arrives before or concurrently with the food. I waited for a couple of minutes salivating in front of my brownie before the spoons arrived. However this didn’t detract from the whole experience. Also, a mobile card machine would be more convenient.”

“For this visit I actually am back here for the R and R burgers which is situated on the Horse and Jockey car park. Had one of the best burgers you can buy,all freshly made, not "bought in". I had the Bacon cheeseburger, chicken loaded fries,Chipotle sauce.... fantastic and could easily be 2 meals. Superb value for money and well worth a visit( I travel each time from Chester) but definitely worth it.”

The log fire is worth it in winter and outside the terrace has heated booths and blankets for the best views across Merseyside and wales. Old building with lots of charm and character especially when you read the history of The Red Cat local witch legacy.”
