“Our go to food establishment for celebrations. Enjoyed a 70th birthday Sunday lunch with a group of visually impaired and disabled friends. The manager was superb and got us seated quickly even though the pub was expecting a hoard of netballers! The food, as always, was superb and served very promptly. We were extremely grateful that the mix up with our discount voucher was speedily rectified. We LOVE the Briars.”

“Really good food. Serves kebabs, pizza, fish, pies and sausages all for a good price and they're pretty generous with their portions, especially the chips. All of the ingredients are fresh too.”

“Amazing food as per.. service was great and attentive and friendly.. was last night of the 50% discount tonight and the place was full to capacity!! But staff were doing their best to deal with the busy night. Service took a little longer than usual but was to be expected.. a few more staff would have helped the workload but was excellent none the less.. the food was cooked to perfection and thoroughly enjoyed it.. will be one of my go to places in future.. thanks for a lovely eve.”

“We had a 40th birthday party here and it was fantastic. Hannah was amazing so helpful and friendly when booking and planning everything. Although we were booked outside on the day it was raining so she moved us inside and was super reassuring. The staff were great there (Brooke in particular looked after us) she was wonderful and helpful. The food was really good aswell!!! I will absolutely be using halleys commet in future for any parties we do.”

“Had breakfast at Bill’s and it was fantastic! I had the shakshuka, honestly the best I’ve ever had. Really warming, perfectly spiced, and so full of flavour. The flatbread on the side was amazing too. My husband ordered a side of hash browns, and the portion was huge! Lovely people serving us as well, such a friendly atmosphere and a great start to our day. Highly recommend!”

“My 8 year old daughter wanted to come here after previously having a coconut drink from a pop up stand. She went for the tropical drink,the gentleman was very helpful, as soon as she tried this drink she said "Wow! I give this a 10/10,best drink ever" she was very impressed and can't wait to come back. “Absolutely delicious food, with lots of choice, we all went for the roast, many side dishes included which you pay extra for anywhere else. The service by Callum, Amanda and another young lady was spot on, nothing was too much trouble. All in all, great venue, delicious food and great service, I’m proud to call you my local!!”

“We visited for the European semi finals and the atmosphere was great. The staff were keeping up with our demands for beer ( there were 2 tables of 6 !!) and kept us all refreshed. The doormen were really friendly too which was a bonus and social distancing was observed so it felt really safe in there. A huge selection of drinks to choose from so something for everyone. We shall definitely be going back.”

“The service at the bar, when I ordered food was small, there were 2 people working, who tried their best, but there was a long queue and the time to order food was longer than usual. The restaurant has a good atmosphere, I and my guests felt very good. The music was calm and we could talk, it was not loud. The place consists of a ball, a fan zone with a large TV, a bar part, a family part, a garden, a playground.”

“After a wet windy afternoon at lamport hall craft fair, the roaring fire was most welcome at the inn! Evie who was the most attentive waitress showed us to a fantastic table ! 2 of us had trio of beef,”lamb, pork roast dinner ! Which was delicious! Best yorky puds I’ve ever had, cheese cake for pudding , all scrumptious !”

“Stopped by on a Saturday lunchtime. My husband had the steak (often a risky choice) but he was very happy with it, I had the lasagna, it was delicious, nice and cheesy. My son had the Gammon it disappeared pretty quickly so it must have been ok. Lovely pub in a lovely location. Would definitely go back.”

“Had a great all you can eat breakfast at Oakley Hay. Everything was cooked fresh and the quality was of the highest standards. My wife had vegetarian sausage and bacon which we ordered as we were seated she really enjoyed it . Big shout out to the chef as everything was cooked to perfection. Also a big thankyou to the gentleman that served us so sorry I never got your name but can be seen working away in the 1st picture. This morning it was really busy but as they say quality speaks louder than words. Without hesitation we will definitely be back when we are in the area. “This is a lovely hotel to stay in. The location is great and is on a road with lots of shops and takeaway food options if you don't want to use on the on site restaurant. There is a large free car park to the rear of the property which felt safe to park in. The room was comfortable and had all the basic equipment. My only gripe was that there was nowhere to sit. I did find the room too warm for me but understand that this is personal preference and for others the temperature would probably be good. However there was a large fan provided so this helped by creating some airflow. The bed was very large and comfortable. It was two single mattresses pushed together to make a large bed. It was slightly uncomfortable over the join where the two mattresses met but I quickly got used to this and it did not affect my sleep. The bathroom was fantastic. The shower was a large walk in that was big enough to fit 2-3 people comfortably. It had two shower heads, a large fixed rainfall head and a movable traditional shower head. The temperature and pressure was great. There was also a separate bath which I did not use but was a good size and had a seat built into the side. Internet connectivity was excellent and was fast and reliable with speeds of 50+ mbps which was great to have. My only negative was the room I was in was next to the 24 hour access door and so this was noisy at times with people coming and going but this is only a small issue and would not affect others in different rooms. Overall I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would happily stay again if I was in the area again”

“One of the best pubs around! I was working nearby and stopped in for a quick break. They’ve got a fantastic range of real ciders and proper ales, and the staff were incredibly kind and attentive. I had the mixed grill, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavour easily one of the best pub meals I’ve had in a while.. A real gem of a place!”

“I honestly don't know what people are moaning about. We pulled up on the boat. Free of charge And were greeted with great hospitality. We had the best cider and food was delicious the fish and chips was the best ever fish was nice and thick. Chips were awesome cooked perfectly home made tarter sauce hot. Butter to melt over extra crusty bread. My cheese and chicken leak pie was hand made cooked in an oven skillet pan , beautiful and ate outside before falling asleep on the boat woke up had cappachino and cooked breakfast. Claiton was lovely my cappachino was taken to a sunny table in the garden. Best experience ever.”
