“Nice park to visit with kids and for a dog walk”
“Colliers Wood is an absolute idyll of a place and allows for people to simply 'be' and take in nature.”
“Very nice coffee, lots of choice for food and some lovely cakes. The staff were pleasant and attentive. Recommend very much. There's water provided for dogs, and disabled access is very good.”
“Had a really great meal here for my birthday. Everyone was happy with their food, my steak was cooked perfectly. Great wines too. The waiting staff were attentive and they even sent over a glass of prosecco as a present. Highly recommend! The one thing I would say is that they could do with a bit of background music for some ambience. Otherwise, can't fault it!”
“We went for our second time recently, a year after the first time. The first time was OK, but this time the food was really great and tasty. Both times were on a Saturday for a late lunch. We took quite a few yakitori, including the aubergine, which was so good we took another one. Also had a fried rice to carb load. Great food, very fast. Not overly friendly but efficient. Good choice of sake too.”
“Came for tapas; crispy squid, Spanish hot flatbread, meatballs. All reasonably priced, squid was slightly tough but batter was lovely and light and was overall fab. Flat bread was perfect and so delicious, meatballs were also spot on. Sangria passion fruit and mango was also great. Good vibe with plenty of tables and service was really good with polite staff. Mix up on the reciept but was easily sorted. Booked the tables so no wait required. Would recommend!”
“The food was so amazing. We ordered dahi Puri bombs, samosa chaat, okra fries, keema pav, lamb chops, railway potatoes, garlic naan. The dahi Puri was a bit rich and sweet, the Puri itself was nice but everything else was super delicious. The food came out quickly and the service was great. We were the only ones in there at the time so it was quiet and cold but the music was nice. The restaurant itself was decorated nicely.aa8”
“I came to this place with my friend on Wednesday as she has been there before and she said it was really good. So we went there and to be honest I didn’t think it was going to be that good l. However I was completely shocked how good the food was in fact I was i element eating the food. The starter nachos was amazing the nachos was proper nachos they put the right amount of cheese and sauce on. The calzone was absolutely amazing. The portion size are big portions. The staff were lovely. The owners are lovely. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone.”
“We recently chose to have our wedding reception at The Canalhouse in Nottingham, and it was the best decision we could have made. Amy, the Events Manager, and her amazing team went above and beyond to make our day truly unforgettable. From our very first meeting, Amy was warm, welcoming, and incredibly organised. She put us at ease straight away and made sure every detail was thought through. Nothing was ever too much trouble for her…she even met with our DJs ahead of time to coordinate the evening plans and timings! We brought in our own decorations and shared our vision for the day, and Amy and her team quite literally brought our dream to life. Walking into the room as husband and wife and seeing it all come together for the first time was magical. The food was exceptional…it arrived on time, tasted amazing, and catered perfectly for guests with allergies and special requests. We received so many compliments on how efficient, friendly, and attentive the staff were throughout the day. Honestly, our wedding wouldn’t have been as perfect without Amy. She and her team absolutely smashed it out of the park. We can’t thank them enough for the care, effort, and attention to detail they put into everything. If you’re thinking of hosting a celebration at The Canalhouse then DO IT!! You’ll be in the best hands. Amy, we appreciate you so much. Thank you again for making our day so special. ❤️ Amy & Mitch 18.10.25”
“The food is delicious. It's a gastropub which means that the food is not the classic pub food but food of high quality. The cheap version of a fine dining cuisine and service. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is warm and the menu is simple and clear. The starters is something that you should definitely try, it is the best thing on the menu. My favourites are the following: sesame halloumi ( I could have that every single day, the honey drizzle goes so well with the sesame coated halloumi), the crayfish bisque ( a delicious luxury served in a unique way) and last but not least the arancini (delicious, delicious, delicious). The Tailors Arms has its own free parking but there is a bus stop 30 seconds away and a tram stop 2 minutes away. Wilford is a very quiet area however the Taylor's Arms is on the main road, next to the co-operative supermarket.”
“Solid British pub. A favorite no frills authentic spot in Nottingham.”
“I haven't had food here, just drinks, so I am unable to rate that yet. I cannot fault the staff and their politeness. I love coming here for a drink or two. It's always one of my go places for a night out. Love the people and live the vibe. It's ever so friendly and the doormen too.”
“What a great old school village pub this is! If you want really (and I mean this most sincerely folks) well kept, perfect cask beers then this is the place! I love real ales and was spoiled for choice with 4 cracking beers. As it was around lunch time on a Sunday I could see some lovely looking plates of food being served. My wife and I both commented that we will pop back soon and partake of the munchies, so will let you know how we got on. The locals and staff were great and enjoyed a chat and also met some nice well behaved dawgs too. The pub has camping on site apparently and what a lovely location that would be here in lovely rural surroundings. We will be back soon and pull in some pub grub as well!”
“Came here for a treat after a bike ride with the little one, we were welcomed with a smile the coffee tasted as it usually does and the little one was satisfied with her (hot chocolate) drink”
“Heanor Memorial Park Heanor Memorial Park is a spacious and attractive green space with plenty to offer visitors. The beautifully maintained gardens are seasonally refreshed with vibrant bedding plants, while a variety of mature trees and open grassy areas provide a peaceful and relaxing environment. Whether you're looking for a tranquil spot to sit or a scenic place to walk, the park offers plenty of benches and open space to enjoy. A Living Memorial: The Park’s History In the aftermath of World War II, the local community sought a meaningful way to honor the men who had lost their lives. Rather than erecting a traditional stone monument as had been done after World War I, the vision this time was to create a "living memorial"—a public park that could be enjoyed by all. At a public meeting held in October 1945, it was decided that unused land near the town centre would be developed into the memorial park. The project was funded entirely by public donations and community fundraising efforts, and included a traditional war memorial at its heart. The park was officially opened on April 28, 1951, by the Duke of Devonshire. A cross-denominational dedication service emphasized the inclusive nature of the memorial. In 1974, ownership of the park was transferred to Amber Valley Borough Council. Later Additions and Improvements In the 1980s, a plaque was added to the war memorial to honor those who died in the Falklands Conflict of 1982. Over the years, the park has seen several enhancements, including the installation of a bandstand and modern play facilities, making it a welcoming space for all ages. Interesting Facts Historic Gates: The park’s impressive main entrance gates were originally the Derby Lodge entrance to the now-demolished Shipley Hall. A second set of gates, located opposite the Miners' Welfare, also came from Shipley Hall’s gardens. Both sets of gates were refurbished in 2010, preserving a piece of local heritage.”
“Great place for a quiet walk around the lake. Lots of benches and bin on the way round.”
“Classic pub almost unchanged since I used to visit with my Dad back in the late ‘70s. Now the brewery tap for the adjoining Nottingham Brewery and has a great range of their beers always in top condition. Friendly locals, great staff and decent pub snacks too. A reminder of what St Peter’s Street was like before it became student land. Anyone serious about beer and an authentic pub atmosphere needs to make the effort to visit. Highly recommended.”
“This was my second visit to Bronte & Co and I’m already looking forward to the next! The venue is beautiful and has such a warm, inviting atmosphere. I had the shakshuka today and it was absolutely delicious – full of flavour. I finished with the baklava, which was a little sweet for my taste but still really tasty. The staff are always so friendly and make you feel genuinely valued. A lovely experience all round!”
“Great service from all the staff, special thanks to Corey & Charlie Food was great & reasonably priced, good choice of drinks available, a great venue for the night out, indoors or outdoors, really enjoyed watching the football here and everyone had a great time and we will definitely return”
“Nice area for a daily walk, anytime of the year, around the lake with the dog or just to sit and watch the wildlife go by. The Lake is in front of Kirk Hallam Community Academy and the meadows stretch all the way to the Nut Brook trail. Tracks are well maintained around the Nut Brook trail and are used for walking and cycling. During the wet season the meadows get flooded but again nice to see when frozen and snow is lying on the ground. Once a year the Friends of Kirk Hallam Lake and Meadows put on a Lakeside Summer Fair, where many stalls are put up around the lake for people to look at and buy goods of all different kinds. There is usually a band playing and places for you to eat and drink. Keep an eye out for this event, around the beginning of July, you will not be disappointed”
“There are several lovely places to take my dog for a walk but this is my favourite. It is on my doorstep and is somewhere that I go for reflection. This was my playground when I was a child so I know what an incredible job has been done to make it what it is today. Well done to everyone that has made this my little paradise.”
“Been waiting to visit here since the lockdown began and a perfect day also, i came down from Birmingham for a beautiful day out, the country park is so impressive and so beautiful, it reminded be of the Netherfield Lagoons but this place has a huge wind turbine which is breathtaking impressive I've been wanting to see one close up ever since they started doting up on the landscape, i want one in my back garden”
“Really lovely place. Best described as Italian style tapas, with medium sized dishes perfect for sharing. They change the menu ever day apparently. Highly recommended.”
“Great Chinese takeaway. Always have decent food.”
“Hippie ambient. Nice cops and nachos. After eat you can take a look the vintage stuff they have.”

“As visitors to the UK from France we were introduced to Jaylowz by a friend. The traditional food and the prices are excellent. The staff are all very friendly, the cafe is very clean and we will certainly recommend it to friends and family.”
“Great food. Good quality and flavour, not dry or greasy. Friendly customer service :)”
