“First time ever tried over weekend,had lunch with friends.What a beautiful place,well impressed on arrival with the lovely decor and greeting from staff. All the food and drinks ordered were fantastic, generous portions and red hot. It got busier as we were there and some people couldn't be accommodated due to being so busy. Didn't have desserts but they looked very tempting. Lovely outdoor area but the heavens had opened, however must ve very busy in summer. Really lovely venue,would not hesitate to return and recommend.”

“Really great selection of freshly roasted coffee - love having the weekend ritual of picking up some beans! Can get whole beans or they will grind them up ready for a cafetière which is great! Very helpful and friendly staff which also adds to the experience. My only suggestion would be to consider adding the roast date to the individual coffees for those of us who like to know :D Not sure whether the staff know themselves when the beans were roasted but this is a very minor observation! Great place to have in Chesterfield overall and I wouldn't buy my coffee from anywhere else :D”

“We had our wedding ceremony here and would highly recommend. The barn is gorgeous with a grounds well kept and looking great even during the storm. Everything was well organised and went smoothly on the day, all guests (and couple!) were really happy and had lots of compliments on the venue.”

“We were looking for somewhere for lunch and stumbled across the Olive Grove. At first, we thought they were closed as it looked dark through the windows. When we got inside we were greeted by a very friendly member of staff offering to find us a table and insisting they were open! I think there were two other customers in there, so it was very quiet. (the number of customers is often an indication how good a place is, so I was a little cautious). Anyway, I needn’t have worried. It turned out to be a lovely place to stop for lunch. I suspect as it’s a Bistro and a little tucked away, their evening trade will be their most busy time. The staff were very helpful and the service prompt. The decafe tea was good and the food excellent. I had a platter on a wooded board, with chunks of different types of bread, cheese, olives, salad and cold meats. It was delightful! By the time we walked out I felt I had just sampled a taste of Spain.”

“first time visit, five of us arrived 1pm on wednesday, the pub almost empty. the menu is comprehensive and sone special offer two meals for £16 and £12. good setvices and the meals we ordered were delicious. the baguette was fresh and soft. meals were in generous portion. they will change ownership in two weeks. hope the new owner keep up the good standards.”

“Gate Inn is a pleasant place to stay. The location is convenient, close to the main attractions. The rooms are clean and cosy, there is everything you need. The staff is friendly and attentive, always ready to help. Breakfast is tasty, with a wide choice of dishes. In the restaurant you can try local specialities. Prices are moderate. From the minuses - sometimes it can be noisy because of the proximity to the road. Overall, I recommend Gate Inn for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Excellent value for money.”

“Always top notch food and service. Great themed nights every so often. Recent family funeral at the Markham moor was the best selection of food for a funeral we have ever seen. Everyone in attendance was raving about the quality. Plenty of parking. Bar area for none formal dining and drinks.”

“I have left a review before and was really happy with our meals. But I wanted to do a special update. We got married on the 6th of September 2025 and decided to have our reception at The Gate in Langwith. Phil, Denise and the staff were fantastic, listened to what we wanted and had no issues with my requests. On the day we turned up and Denise had decorated the tables in the orangery beautifully. The meal was at the very high standard we have come to love from the chefs and could not fault any part of it. All our guests said it was a beautiful meal and it made our day even more memorable. “Excellent stay. Lodge was spotless inside, had all the facilities and equipment you’d need for a weekend away. We stayed at another resort the weekend prior and was so disappointed so we were a little apprehensive going away for the second weekend in a row. However this stay was perfect. Lovely big bath. We didn’t actually use the hot tub, the outside area could have done with a little spring clean, but this didn’t bother us. We had the edge lodge so felt lovely and private. Heating easy to use. Close to Sherwood Forest.”

“DIY store with a wide range of items available. The quality of all of their products is outstanding. Some items are a little pricey, but they are well worth it. They also now have access via Ilkeston road, so you no longer have to go around the back to enter. Parking is also available at the front on Ilkeston road.”

“I love this place and try to visit once a week. They’re only open Friday-Sunday but if you’re in Crookes it’s perfect for a late breakfast or lunch. Prices are fair and service is friendly and quick.”

It's very busy so would book in advance, the service is ok, could be slightly more efficient but it's a busy place. For myself being half deaf, I did find this a noisy environment, also due to it being super busy. So just a couple of things to bare in mind. But would highly recommend! Will return in the future”
