“Small cosy little place, great in winter. They do a fantastic breakfast and the tea/coffee is also superb. The atmosphere is obviously very good with it being such a small place and despite them always being busy, the service is very quick! Would highly recommend Taste if you're at a loose end in Retford.”

“Not like it used to be.not really bothered. I've seen more life in an aspirin. I wanted skirting etc Got wrong size wrong price and had to cut it myself.while they watched. Let's hope they can sort it . Well early morning call from a lovely gentleman called Matt Nothing too much trouble . All sorted .just the difference . “Retford Kitchens have just fitted a complete re vamp of our kitchen which included new worktops,sink, taps and doors, handles, pelmets , end panels, kick boards. The experience at the shop in choosing the style and colours, were very professional from the staff. We were kept fully up to date of the progress of delivery and fitting, which we appreciated. The fitters arrived on time and were professional and courteous and very efficient. The work was carried out to a very high standard and Ryan and Craig were a credit to their profession. We are extremely pleased with the finished kitchen and would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone thinking of having their own kitchen done. “Truly excellent stay, great value for money the hotel is perfectly situated at the end of the high street so plenty of shops and places to eat nearby. The property is well maintained and beautifully clean. Retford is a cracking little town. Room came with a fan, only real downside is that the room was warm due to no air conditioning however we visited peak of summer.”

“I was extremely satisfied and very impressed with the service I have received from Fairfax & Porter. I was looking for a new toilet and taps for our cloakroom. I particularly wanted Thomas Crapper toilet, and I found Fairfax & Porter to be one of their retailers. Jayne made the whole process extremely easy: she took care of my entire order, and sourced the taps I was struggling to find for the basin. I found her extremely professional, totally reliable and easy to communicate with. She has also arranged a plumber to complete the job and he was absolutely brilliant. It all run smoothly and I could not be more grateful to Jayne for arranging everything for me and making my life easy. I would highly recommend their services. “We ordered bedroom furniture, minus a bed, and despite the challenges of the past year, received excellent customer service and bespoke furniture. We are delighted with the furniture build and ascetics, however we need to be mindful of the vulnerability of the finish with water spillages as they mark instantly. Revival beds have been more than helpful in restoring our furniture with product advice. I only wish I could complete the look with a bed to match but need an electric bed for health reasons.”

“What a fabulous little place !! We only stopped for a quick drink, late afternoon, so can't comment on evenings here, but we loved the place. Great selection of real ales, which apparently changes on a regular basis. Just sandwiches/light bites for food. Great decor. Friendly bar chap. Tucked away just at the back of the market square, so plenty of town carparks nearby. Will most definitely visit again.”

“Always top notch food and service. Great themed nights every so often. Recent family funeral at the Markham moor was the best selection of food for a funeral we have ever seen. Everyone in attendance was raving about the quality. Plenty of parking. Bar area for none formal dining and drinks.”

“4* for convenience, cleanliness, service and for location. We've used The Lawns before and used a family room on 1st floor. Simple but elegant furnishings, so well organised with 2 kitchens to either use for a simple meal or something more. We took our ingredients for a chicken curry and our son and grandson (local) joined us. We will always use The Lawns for value and ease of use. Thank you.”

“Gate Inn is a pleasant place to stay. The location is convenient, close to the main attractions. The rooms are clean and cosy, there is everything you need. The staff is friendly and attentive, always ready to help. Breakfast is tasty, with a wide choice of dishes. In the restaurant you can try local specialities. Prices are moderate. From the minuses - sometimes it can be noisy because of the proximity to the road. Overall, I recommend Gate Inn for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Excellent value for money.”

“I booked the spa and overnight stay for our 20th wedding anniversary. The spa was wonderful so relaxing and the staff were amazing even preparing us a surprise dessert after our wonderful lunch. The hotel is a beautiful place, our room was perfect. A lot of work has gone into this place to achieve its grandeur. We spent a lovely evening in the bar/restaurant and the food didn’t disappoint and the service was excellent. Thank you all at ye olde bell and spa for helping make our 20 anniversary one to remember.”

No less than three different people came by to apologize for the wait (though again, I didn't think we were waiting that long), and to make sure we were OK. I also saw the waitstaff interacting with other customers -they make people feel welcome. No problems with the excellent service here. Just wish it was closer to where I live!”

“My grandads favourite restaurant, the daal palak and paneer palak are both amazing but the true stand out is definitely the parottas. Flaky, buttery and steaming hot they are a must have. My grandad always has the elms chicken, which changes every so slightly each time he orders it, a good sign that everything is made fresh and from scratch. Staff are friendly and polite, creating a homey atmosphere, a little gem hidden in Retford. Love this place!”
