“Good town centre pub with local atmosphere, good beer although selection can be a bit narrow. Very good place to stop for a pint when the Mrs is shopping”
“The outside area is a good place on a sunny day.”
“We came as a family group of 6 and a toddler for a 60th birthday party on Saturday evening. The food and service was excellent. I don’t know the name of the waitress but she was exceptional. It was very busy but she still managed to be efficient, calm and find time to listen and talk to us in addition to having to rearrange the tables for another party. Our booking was under the name of Shaw so please thank the amazing young lady.”
“Great cinema, very helpful and friendly staff. Nice and clean. Very comfy reclining seats. Highly recommend”
“Love this place for a lunchtime sandwich and drink treat, when I need a break from work. Family run business, with home from home atmosphere and cooking.”
“We had a lovely evening celebrating an anniversary. We were served by T who was engaging and attentive! Couldn’t have asked for a better meal out for a special occasion! Food was brilliant, drinks lovely and the extra touches don’t go unnoticed!”
“My wife and I are locals and regular visitors to The Swan at Whiston, and it never disappoints. The food is consistently excellent — proper home-cooked dishes, generous portions, crisp chips, and plenty of fresh vegetables. The service is friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is always welcoming. It’s great value for money, and they’re always happy to accommodate. Always busy, always enjoyable — what more could you ask for?”
“A fantastic welcome. A must visit if you are Market Drayton. The food was delicious. We were there around one on Mothers day. Five of us had roast beef, and one had the roast chicken. Staff were friendly, attentive, and interested in you as a customer. We all had deserts, including apple crumble, cheese cake, and brownie. Craft Beer had a taste of more, and after a few scoops, we sensibly headed home. I will be visiting here again in the next few months. They are renovating across the car park a wooden structure that looks full of character.”
“Had an absolutely brilliant lunch here, catered brilliantly for my coeliac mum (they were the best onion rings we have ever eaten). Everything was delicious, portions were spot on and the fact they use local ingredients, local suppliers and make their own sausages is ace. Thoroughly recommend.”
“The Olde Jack under new management was amazing. We had a fantastic meal and the service was spot on. Highly recommend.”
“Lovely staff who always pay special attention to the doggies! Thankyou!”
“The staff were amazing and ensured our son’s christening celebration was a success. We all had an amazing time! They were very helpful with decorating the pub and laying out our buffet for when we arrived. Lovely cosy pub with good prices, would recommend to all!”
“Although very busy outside on approach, when inside it was the perfect setting and atmosphere for a quick early evening light meal, still feeling quite intimate. The food was incredible and the service was fabulous. Highly recommended.”
“A lovely traditional pub with friendly staff and reasonable priced drinks. Really nice to have a pub like this local.”
“Always a brilliant selection of beers/ales. Great, friendly atmosphere too.”

“Great food and lovely country pub, had a delicious steak and ale pie followed by a brilliant apple and raspberry crumble with custard ! Very tasty food and good value portions.”
“Been to the Old town vaults a few times. Always great well kept ales. Called in on a Saturday afternoon in September. I had the Joules peach lager for the first time. Was a well good tasty ale. The pub was fairly quiet as to be expected in the mid afternoon. Music at a respectable volume. Will be back again soon. Keep up the good work.”
“This pub has the most amazing food, I was in catering for over forty years and I've never liked eating out! untill I visited this public house. The owner/chef here is amazing, , And his wife the co.owner and her mother make you so welcome. Ten stars to all❤️”
“This was by far the best curry we have had in a long time, if not ever. The staff were friendly and polite. There isn't a huge amount of room around much of the tables inside, so accessibility may be an issue for some, but that would be the only criticism I could make. I would definitely recommend this place, and I'm looking forward to going back.”
“Amazing pub which pops up out of nowhere. Good friendly service and banter and food is good old fashion English grub. Get in there.”
“Had a private function here and it was a great little pub, friendly staff and the choice of ales was brilliant”
“World class! Quintessential English beauty in the middle of Staffordshire. From the open log fire, the perfect roast dinners washed down with outstanding refreshments this place takes some beating. Fram and her team make this an outstanding experience and one we cannot to come back….see you guys soon!”
“We went for Sunday lunch. The service was good, the pub decor is really good and they have a good selection of cask ale. The food was great but a little disappointed that the veggie Sunday roast was just a mushroom…”
“From the warmest of Italian welcomes to the most amazing food. Wow simply wow and the service was outstanding We will be back for sure Thank you for a lovely evening with you”
“Casa Mia has become our go-to Italian, and for good reason. We’ve ended up here more than once after being unable to eat elsewhere, and Casa Mia always accommodates my partner’s gluten allergy properly. This is a genuine medical requirement, not a preference, and they take it seriously without fuss or attitude — exactly how it should be. The food is great, excellent value for money, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. They’re also very good with children, which makes a big difference for us. After trying other places and being let down, we now don’t bother — we just come straight to Casa Mia. Reliable, accommodating, and genuinely personable. Highly recommended.”
“Nice quirky place to have a drink and something to eat. The place itself was clean and presented well. Staff were friendly and polite and made you feel welcome.”
“Didn't eat here but have had the food recommended by several friends. Lovely large Beer Garden, bright clean interior. Both the landlord and landlady were very welcoming and friendly with good sense of humour. We will be visiting again. Visited today for Sunday lunch. We both chose the Sunday roast beef. The presentation was very good, the vegetables were fresh and cooked well, the beef was succulent, very tender and flavoursome. We said we would like all of the veg on offer,so we received Mashed potatoes, Roast potatoes, green cabbage, peas, Broccoli, cauliflower, parsnip and carrots. We received a gravy boat each, which tasted really good, and meant I had plenty to fill my Yorkshire pudding with. We are definitely going to come here for meals again, and we will be bringing our family with us. Ps. I had eaten some of my lunch before I decided to take the enclosed photo.”
“One of the few traditional pubs, always good atmosphere , good choice of drinks , landlady very friendly”
“A very old tiny little pub, struggling to keep up with the modern pubs of today. No meals ... Just a great little boozer for sampling a great pint. Keep these authentic little pubs open, by going along and helping to support them. You might find some great conversation instead of food and wi-fi. You might really enjoy a proper handpulled pint too.”
