“The best cafe in the area for us, and so good on the pricing, nice staff and will always come back to these guys”
“Had a take out medium breakfast. Super fast service and beautiful food. Had it to take out and can't beat quality and price!! Yummy”
“One of the best breakfasts compared to other cafe’s locally, portion sizes are good & very well priced. Staff are very friendly also. It’s 5 stars from me, my new regular !”
“I had a medium size breakfast but couldnt eat it all. It was beautiful. Large rashers of short back bacon 2 large sausages beans toms egg and fried bread. The staff were so pleasant. I only went there after good reviews from people I know. Oh large mug of tea!!”
“Been going here for years whenever I work locally - always nice , always filling , always good value .”
“What a gorgeous little place! It was packed, but the staff did everything they could not to leave us standing and waiting for too long. The menu is nice and simple (less is more in a cafe!) Wonderful flavours and great drink choices. The tea was a bit of a let down, as pale as dish water even after being brewed in the pot for ages! But that wasn't a huge disaster and didn't take away from the fact that the food was delicious!”
“Best cafe around the area. Great food atmosphere and service. Would recommend.”
“Myself and my family have been coming here for years since they had the large restaurant by the markets. The food has always been of a high standard. They have fresh and tasty dishes. My favourite being the squid fried rice and my daughter absolutely loves their Oreo milkshakes!”
“Wow, crazy good dessert parlour! I came here many years ago when it was tiny but since me and my other half were in the area, though it was cheeky not pop in and have an ice cream. The place is huge and the staff are friendly. The service is crazy good and the ice cream, just wow! High quality ingredients with a really great price especially compared to many places in the UK currently. Recommend coming here at least once!”
“Layali Lounge truly lives up to its name! I visited tonight and had a perfect experience. The shish was delicious and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. The staff were friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this lounge to anyone looking for a great night out.”
“This is Bedder's Fish and Chips, Mad O' Rouke's Pie and Mash, Duran Duran, Ozzy and Toni are just some of the great Midlands collaborations. Well, throw in cycles and coffee at Gorilla Coffee Cafe! This brummie institution is a beautiful, bright spacious cafe that is finely tuned for the the road cyclist. If it's the start of your cycling adventure or you've got a thirst on after a heavy day in the saddle, get over here. The staff are lovely, the coffee is great, they even serve local ales. Just find a pew amongst the abundance of seats and rest your weary lycra.”
“Just had a Banging breakfast from this place. Food like always is ten ten and the service is too. Hands down the best cafe in a 4mile radius, my number 1 cafe.”
“We went this morning with my 4 and 5 year old. We had been disappointed with somewhere else as we had booked to see santa and they had let us down. I came across what I believe to be the owner who said come in and see the grotto. The team looked after my children and made sure they had an amazing time. Additionally, the atmosphere, service and drinks were excellent. I will be returning for a full breakfast in the near future. Thank you to the two men I met outside who made my boys day and the staff for looking after them - it was very much appreciated- thank you.”
“Had chicken and lamb sish kebab combo and I can say it was extremely delicious. Service was wonderful and very quick. Also with complimentary dips and salad. Excelent chef and professional staff. Say no more! Highly recommended.”
“I've wanted to try this cafe for some time now. As we were passing today we thought we'd give it a try. Nicely done out cafe, and warm and cozy. unbelievable menu, so much choice, too much. Very reasonable prices. Great fast friendly service and our food was delicious and plentiful. Well worth a visit ...”
“The best curry anywhere at a really good price! Great service and decor if eating in.”
“Quite possibly the best cafe I’ve ever been to in 20 years of working away. A workman’s cafe not a fancy Dan snobby place! Clean! Lovely food! Fair prices!”
“Excellent Full English Breakfast. Came with a free drink (nice milky coffee). All served with a smile. Highly recommend.”
“I don't bother to review unless the experience is extremely unsatisfactory or highly pleasing. Happy to say this fell into the latter. Been craving for some burger, decided to go on a Thursday night to find the place totally empty. Still sceptical, was looking at the menu, when a friendly chap greeted us. There are good options for non-veg(beef/chicken) and veg burgers and wraps. We decided on a avo-chicken and a farm house veg burger for my partner. With little expectations we waited for our food, but pleasantly surprised when it arrived in huge portions. The chicken was perfectly grilled with good flavours of parsley and herbs which I enjoyed, seemed to be a Turkish/mid eastern take on chicken patty. The veg burger was also delectable with fried cheese. The chips were super crispy and batter fried with proper seasonings. While waiting, there were quite a few takeaways, so wasn't that empy after all. In all we had a very satisfied meal, very much recommended.”
“We’ve been coming here quite regularly for the last 2 or 3 years. It’s the best coffee in town and if you like dogs then you’ll likely meet a few friendly ones. Highly recommended!”
“Superb sandwich cook to perfection brilliant service thank you,”
“Had a party Saturday night, catered for by Suzy. Excellent food there was plenty, more than enough. Everybody loved the food! Brilliant as always x Sam & Family x”
“Clean place with plenty of seating, flavourful nicely cooked large full English, pleasant friendly owners/staff. Little pricey compared to elsewhere in the UK, but good food is good food so it doesn’t go against them.”
“Excellent food at great prices, highly recommended!”
“It is such a lovely atmosphere in there everytime I go in there the staff are always so welcoming. Food is always lovely and they make an amazing cup of tea I must say”
“Absolutely a great cafe to spend time and eat especially for children. Very friendly staff are so welcoming and you certainly enjoy your time if you visit. Food are great and great quality despite the prices are so low compared to to other cafe around Boldmere. Highly recommended.”
“Was in the area for the weekend, had a sausage and egg sandwich 1 day and dined in and had a full English the second and was sadly closed (expected) on Sunday. Food sorted me right out and the service was good. No complaints other than wish I lived closer to make regular visits.”
“Wow! What a gem on the Hagley Road! My partner and I had a late breakfast here on a Saturday, and what a joy it was. My partner ordered the Saganaki omelette and I ordered the Feta omelette. We also got two black americanos. The food arrived quickly, and was sublime. Both omelettes came with a lime wedge, a pickled pepper, raw onion, fresh mint, fresh basil and fresh flat leaf parsley. I greatly appreciated the herbs as I love them all, and I personally seasoned my omelette liberally with them. The omelettes also came with sesame flatbread, which we used to mop our plates clean! The coffees were great as well, with my only very minor note being that it would have been nice to have them in a glass with a handle, as they were too hot to handle for about 10 minutes. There is a single loo, which is accessible and well-maintained. Bonus points for a lovely sink basin. I'm including photos of the menu, which we were told has been recently updated. I think the prices are very reasonable for such good quality food. The cafe is decorated very nicely, and my only note about the general ambience was that the music was a very slight bit too loud for my taste. The staff were friendly and helpful, and created a friendly atmosphere. We will be back soon for a lunch and / or dinner - thank you Cafe Rumi!”
“Amazing little cafe in Selly oak. Great atmosphere, delicious food. Ample portions. I had the Halal breakfast, can't move now!”
“Spectacular 2- and 3-layer cakes, with at least one vegan and one gluten-free option every day. Matcha Chai latte and Ruby Hot Chocolate, White Hot Chocolate, Greek Freddo Espresso and Freddo Capuccino are also available. Has an extensive savoury menu as well with a vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free selection. Make sure you try the Avocado Halloumi Pita and the Shakshuka Eggs.”
