“Been a while since we've been as a family to this Brewers as we normally go to the Hastings. But last visit wasn't great so came back to The Drove , for my wife's birthday lunch .Fantastic warm and friendly in environment . Clean and tidy and decorated Fantastic for Xmas. Food was fantastic went for the festive 3 course meal and our kids had similar. Was a great afternoon only negative we had was thought the time between courses was abit long.”
“Placed an order over the phone for a set meal. Lady on the telephone is sooo friendly and same with delivery driver, can’t fault the service at all, felt the Asian hospitality. The food arrived hot. Sweet and sour sauce/rice/chicken balls 5* but shredded beef a lot more harder than other places but still very tasty and a solid *4 and for the price is soo worth it. Will order again.”
“Such a treat, best in the area by far.”
“Excellent service. Theyve come a long way since the early days. Inadvertantly messed them around and they called to sort it out while refunding me and continuing with my order. Food arrived piping hot and of good quality. They've had some poor reviews in the past. But they've turned themselves around to become one of the best in Crowborough. Thanks guys”
“This is the best Chinese take away I’ve ever had! So many great veggie options (love the satay), and the flavour is brilliant. Where I used to live I couldn’t find a Chinese take away that had much flavour- I was a so pleasantly surprised by this place. This is now our regular spot”
“Food was ready so quickly. Hot, fresh and tasty. It was delicious. The shop owners were very friendly too. Would definitely order again!”
“The owner of the restaurant is very friendly and nice, I ordered a basket of bread and fish soup, the soup is really tasty and has variety seafood inside. There are many restaurants in Brighton serve fish soup but most of them are pretty pricey but this one’s price is reasonable. The bread is fine, felt it is super fresh bread but it’s good enough. It is an small restaurant that run in Brighton for more then 50 years. Will definitely come back to try more different dishes next time.”
“Really good food. Have been using these guys once or twice a month for 6months now and yet to have a cold delivery or any complaints about the food. Delivers to Glynde which is a major plus! Duck spring rolls are amazing as is the beef in black bean. Just about to call again for a takeaway!!”
“Great food, some nice options for vegans.”
“over 20 years in business.. ordered 1/2 duck takeaway. (Hongkong style duck) oh my God. amazing”
“If you’re looking for a classic takeaway that hits all the right notes, Fish and Chips to takeaway is your go-to in Brighton. the batter came out crispy and golden, not soggy or over-greased. The chips are great: fluffy inside and perfect outside Now, the sausage in batter deserves its own praise. The batter mirrors the crisp of the fish, light enough not to overwhelm, yet sturdy enough to hold its shape. Inside, the sausage is juicy and well-flavoured — not one of those limp, rubbery ones. Takeaway service is friendly and efficient; you won’t wait forever, but you get the sense they care about what they dish out. Everything is wrapped up well so it arrives still hot and tasty. Overall, a highly satisfying takeaway — perfect for a comfort food fix, especially when you want proper batter, good fish, and a sausage that doesn’t disappoint.”
“This is a special place to me.. not just for the food or the late night snacks.. but the people who work there are genuinely one of the hardest working people I’ve ever met.. they are so honest and so friendly. I sometimes go eat there not because I’m hungry but because I feel safe and happy being around the staff.”
“Just moved to the area and pleased to have a chippy right behind our flat! Popped in for Friday night chippy tea - large cod & chips between my son and I. Was in and out in a few minutes, both fish & chips were yummy, no cooking for me and minimal washing up so a winner all round.”
“The person on the phone was lovely, food was amazing as always! Bit slow at delivering but understandable because they are very busy! The chef doing an fantastic job and people are really sweet there, recommend!!!”
“Finally a yo counter close to me, always fresh, decent portion sizes.”
“We were a party of 20 people eating in. The staff coped very well with the huge variety of dishes that were ordered. The food was delicious and all the staff did a great job. Thanks everyone!”
“We had dinner during the long interval. We'd ordered a bottle of wine beforehand which was waiting for us along with a jug of iced water. Although the menu was two course (mains & dessert), there were nibbles also on the table and bread. Quantities of both courses excellent as well as quality. We had beautiful roast beef, perfectly cooked with huge Yorkshire pudding, jus and a gratin on the side. Not cheap, but what is, thoroughly enjoyed”
“Best breakfast will definitely be back.”
“We are staying here currently and we were a bit worried beforehand after reading all the bad reviews but honestly I believe people’s expectations are way too high. You really are paying for what you get, so if you would like a 5 star hotel then that is what you should go pay for. The rooms, while yes, dated, do what they are intended for. The hotel is located right by the beach so there is lots to do and you only really need to sleep here so the hotel is perfect for that, especially at the cheap prices it has. The shower in our room had the best water pressure I have ever felt and the beds are comfy. The rooms are very clean also. The staff are lovely and very helpful, so thank you for that. And again, to reiterate, the reviews here appear to be left by people who have high expectations for an affordable hotel. We would definitely stay here again!”
“I was fortunate to get the opportunity to experience the coffee at basement central and feel compelled to speak as to my experience. I would consider myself rather barista-cly naïve and a novice in matters of coffee, however I’d say my experience at Basement Central has done something to alter that – alter me. I would dare to say that this café, rightly situated in a learning establishment, has made me more learned and edified me in a way that I struggle to express. I would credit the service of staff member Ellie for the profundity of what has become the epoch of my coffee journey. She honoured my order with grace and gusto, I found myself enthralled by what I could see of the alchemical process (in itself a wonderful and delicate conduction that Petrenko could only wish to achieve). Her manner was astounding, she provided a pleasant and yet almost philosophical exchange - indeed I was putting one foot in front of the other - what one could hope for from a Michelin level server. Then of course, the coffee – The taste was divine; rich with notes of caramel – ambrosia in a cardboard cup. Perfection brewed and then placed before me in a university café. My only criticism is I fear I may never be able to experience such a thing from any other establishment or home brewed beverage, not only was I caffeinated but I was healed of fatigue, of worldly stresses. I cannot emphasise enough, the excellency of the culinary happening that Ellie provided to me; I am a heretic having tasted the divine in that drink, a tear may have rolled down my cheek. It is much to my sorrow that I have to disrespect the empyrean nature of this brew by confining its description to a paltry and, certainly for this, lacking system of rating, but I shall say that Ellie has cemented Basement Central as a place for my repeated patronage.”
“Take away Really impressed Food was hot on delivery, none of the food was oily, it was just so tasty, good food all round Equivalent to the China Garden, cannot fault it at all, thank u”
