“Went in for a drink early evening midweek, was fairly quiet but had a warm welcome from behind the bar and a nice pint of Gem. Looks like they don't really do food, but there was a hot food cabinet behind the bar with Clarks pies and a few other bits. Looks a lot more welcoming after the makeover internally a few years ago, and still with the half-Lifeboat as the side of the bar. Good job.”

“Following watching the fireworks across Bristol from The Observatory we visited The Mall. The food and wine were excellent. A real good buzz in the bar. The service from James was excellent and very polite considering how busy the pub was. First class”

“Incredibly friendly staff, very warm to us upon entry and throughout our meal. The food was amazing and portion sizes were great too - felt sufficiently full after two courses. The seasonal menu was superb and really great to hear that all the produce was sourced locally - must try if ever in Bristol.”

“Charming little pub, with outside sittings available. I was surprised to find some trappist belgium beers, like the Orval which often runs out even in Belgium! The pub was a bit quiet on that day, but I was very happy reading and drinking. I will definitely come back with friends. I also loved the blackboard with university level maths problems to solve! Very cool!”

“Ever since it reopened, The Rose has become such a gem of a place. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, with lovely staff who always make you feel at home—Tony especially stands out, he’s brilliant. The Wednesday quiz nights are so much fun and easily one of the best around. Great mix of laughs and a bit of competition. I’m more into wine and spirits, and there’s a fab selection (my partner rates the beer too). It’s the perfect spot for a casual night out. Highly recommend!”

“A literally historic building in its own right, due to the connection with the abolitionist movement of the 19th century, this is also a great place to go for some quality beers and cider, often with live music and friendly service. Food seemed limited to bar snacks, but otherwise a really good place to be on a cold winter's day, with the fire going and a selection of ales to sample.”

“Irish bar and a gay bar. Strange combo right? Well its a lovely welcoming atmosphere as a queer person. It always feels safe. There are door staff on the weekend, which keeps idiots out. They do not allow large groups. its only a small pub. It's usually free entry with the exception of the occasional ticketed event. They have charity fundraisers once a month. Great live music, and drag performers every weekend. The bar staff are the highlight. Super friendly with great personality.”

“A lovely pub, relaxed and warm atmosphere. Good choice of drinks and friendly, prompt service. We were there on curry night and would highly recommend the meal deal, we also had desert (bounty cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding). One curry choice, homemade and tasty. Really lovely food, and the chips were homemade and great!”

“Really enjoyed our large family meal here tonight. There was plenty of choice at reasonable prices. Staff friendly and helpful. Service was quick and efficient. all of our food was delicious and served within a reasonable time frame. We happened to be there on quiz night so it was very busy and a bit to noisy for me. There is dog friendly seating areas inside and out also plenty of seating inside and out. Customer toilets, beer garden, free parking and disabled access.”

“Popped in for dinner Saturday just gone, instantly felt very warmly welcomed. Beautiful place, especially with the fire glowing. The menu & food preparation was explained clearly to us and we were encouraged to have a look around and not stay stuck to our table. The food came out and was absolutely incredible, we both were very satisfied and went home feeling very stuffed. We would definitely visit again.”

“We stopped in for a bite to eat while visiting Castle Combe, and have to say we had a fantastic time! The staff were really friendly, and so helpful. “First time of staying here, was absolutely spot on, from checking in to checking out. Already booked again, was so impressed! There is a lift to the floors but also a few stairs too, although I was told and offered help. My room was just perfect. Very clean and comfy, bed was a delight. Lovely toiletries. Plenty of tea/coffee/milk etc. There was a fridge, what a bonus. I didn’t struggle with parking, yes £15 per 24hrs but it is what it is, I’ve paid lots more in Bath and it was a fair distance to walk to my accommodation. I personally didn’t sample any food. A great place to stay - highly recommend. Thank you to all concerned for making my stay so memorable”

“We didn’t know what to expect when booking the snooty Fox as this was given to us as an experience 2 night away gift. I can happily say my husband and I had a fantastic two nights stay with the snooty Fox. The reception area for dining area and pub were pleasantly clean and welcoming. The staff were incredibly attentive as well as interested in communicating with their guests. The dinner and service was perfect on both nights. We wouldn’t usually eat at the same place twice while away but the first night blew us away and we were more than happy to return the following night, there are plenty of place to eat around there with great reviews, but I’m glad we ate there both nights. There is so much to see around the area and surroundings. We would happily stay here again.”

“Visited for a Sunday roast, on entering was greeted by a clean but somewhat dated room, with a small bar and a serving area for a carvery. The room was busy but my party managed to find a table, after buying drinks we decided to eat, there was a choice of three meats and a wide choice of veg. After returning to our table and starting our meals everyone agreed that their meals were excellent and were all thoroughly enjoyed. Judging by how busy it was, everybody else enjoyed theirs. Can recommend eating here.”

“It's always such a pleasure to come to lounge, their time out Wednesday sports night is often the highlight of my week and I can't think of a better environment in which to boogie late into the night. Staff here are always really friendly and the music is always on point, especially when they open room 2! I'm a big fan of the photographer who goes round capturing some of our best moments here, thanks to them those memories can last a lifetime. A given in lounge is the infamous VK, one of my favourite nights here was the recent VK party during which VKs were just £1 (!!) and I managed to win some awesome free merch, that I now frequently wear with pride. If you haven't already, I cannot recommend visiting this club enough for anyone looking for a fun night in Bristol. I personally cannot wait for many more nights to come!”

“Me and my friends came here on a Friday night. We were worried it was going to be packed but it was just the right amount of people. It was a bit dark and moody which we really liked, they had a live DJ and it was just great vibes. The whole night we just said we love it here. The food as well was absolutely delicious, packed with flavour, leaving us STUFFED. We will be coming back.”
