“I had to do an emergency stop to the shop and by a new pair of sandals as mine broke. Celeste was very professional, helpful and kind and even accepted to throw away my old shoes for me. She made no comment and has been very understanding while I was inside the shop barefoot. Thank you”

The fitting room wasn't staffed which I find a shame but it was still clean and organised. I paid at the till at 1421 and the 2 women serving were both lovely, friendly and helpful. Top marks for this Matalan (unlike my local one in Camberley where the staff are consistently super unfriendly).”

“The shop floor is tidy and well arranged. They have sale going on which they kept all together. I was collecting and I found staff at pay area straight away. I think finding order details is not that easy. They ask name order number two or more times to find the order in system. Simple bar code would be simpler and less time consuming. Overall good experience.”

“Had the most complicated set of returns ever with multiple purchases at different stores and hundreds of receipts. Obviously tried to deal with it on busy evening right before Christmas, when we were en route (and running late) for a class. Laura the supervisor was absolutely brilliant. It didn't phase her at all and what I had pre-empted being a time consuming disaster was dealt with quickly, clearly and we were on our way in minutes. This is the customer service I didn't think existed in shops anymore: super knowledgeable about the policies and system, and polite too. Thank you Laura, for making Christmas that little bit easier!”

“Visited the Cearphilly store today and was greeted by a pleasent young man at your till. He was engaged in the most exasperating phone call with another customer. Even standing away from the phone we could hear your staff member was doing his very best to provide the phone customer with the best service he could dispite thier inability to provide your staff member with the most basic curtousy. He did a great job of the serving us and keeping his cool on the phone.”
