“Before seeing Dr. Sarah Jafar, every dental visit brought me one step closer to a full-blown panic. “I have been with Richard and Vale Vets for the last 10 years and I have had nothing but a great service throughout those years. More recently this past December my dog Lexi who is now 13 years old went in for a general check of health, but Richard discovered a mass growing in her stomach. It was not looking good for Lexi as she was an older dog. We didn't know how she was going to react to surgery, we didn't know whether or not she would survive the anesthetic and we did know how much of the mass had integrated into the rest of her body. We made the decision to go ahead with the surgery to give Lexi the best chance of surviving. Richard and his team went above and beyond to care for Lexi and I could never have asked for a greater group of people to care for her. Somehow Richard managed to remove a two kilogram mass from Lexi, Lexi only being 18 kilogram to start with. The surgery was successful and Lexi had come out of the anesthetic. We went in to the surgery to meet with Richard and to see Lexi for the first time, we were given all of the options where it was a 50/50 chance whether or not Lexi would survive the night and we made the decision that we would care for her at home regardless of the outcome, which we had the full support of Richard and his team and again I echo that they were amazing and went above and beyond their job and they there responsibilities. Richard didn't have to do this but he kept in touch with me. He was about to go on holiday with his family, but he kept in touch with me all the way through the night to make sure that Lexi was still going strong. Lexi made it through the night. Lexi was back at the surgery the next day to have a check up, watching her walk back into the building was one of the proudest things I've seen that old dog do. She was greeted with affection from everybody and by this time everybody had heard the story of Lexi and everyone was truly amazed that she had pulled through what was a horrific surgery. We are now three months on and Lexi is doing better than ever. She is running around with our kids, still thinking she is still a puppy. Lexi would not be here if it wasn't for Richard and the team at Barry Vale Vets. We could never thank you all enough.”

“Brilliant service today from Minor Injuries Unit. I was there early in the morning when they opened up. Was greeted by a cheery, happy receptionist. Seen within a few minutes by a professional senior nurse. 10 minutes later the nice bloke from XRay called my name and escorted me to get pics of my busted ankle. He then walked back with me afterwards. I was only sitting down for 5 minutes more and was called back into the consulting room for diagnosis, treatment and advice given. All done and dusted in just over half an hour, everyone polite, kind, patient, friendly, wearing masks, and very reassuring. Thank you everyone in MIU Ystrad for saving me an extremely stressful long wait in A&E The Grange.”

“Been here a few times when visiting family. Overall swimming with the kids is great fun. Never used any of the gym facilities so can't comment there. It's a great place to book kids birthday parties as they have a bouncy castle for the kids. Best to book a couple of months in advance as it's particularly popular. Only one gripe I have is their tea at reception tastes awful - tasted like a mix of coffee and tea so maybe avoid that. But overall it's a great place for swimming and kids birthday parties”

“Sam's nail salon is the real deal! From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for a treat. Both her and Lee welcomed me warmly, offering a drink and making me feel right at home. Lisa worked wonders on my nails! I showed her a pic, and she totally nailed it—better than I could've imagined! The vibe is chill, the place is spotless, and the whole experience was just awesome. For perfect nails and a welcoming atmosphere, this is the place to be!”

“Recently spent a week on ward B6 after being rushed in. Was under the care of urology, ent and the mental health team and the care I got was excellent. Everyone on the ward from the nurses down to the cleaners and catering staff were always happy and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble for the ward team I suffer with anxiety so having to stay in terrified me but they did everything they could to make my stay stress free. I was allowed to leave the ward multiple times a day to get out for some air and peace for the good of my mental health and thete are some nice peaceful spots in the grounds you can relax in away from all the hustle and bustle like the lake. After last visiting the hospital is much quieter and more relaxing. And a special mention for the catering staff. I didn't feel like eating the first few days but they would bring sandwiches so I could have them later. The main meals were very good though with a good choice and whoever makes the crumbles and custard deserves a reward!”

“I honestly love this place so much, even if it's just a hospital. Me, being the clumsy person I am, has been here many times, from broken arms to surgeries, physical therapy, etc. Every time, I've enjoyed the experience because of how respectfully I've been treated when I come here. I was terrified and crying the first time I told I had to have surgery, but the staff was so kind with me and reassured me that I would be okay. Many times I have been here, I haven't wanted to leave, and I will always remember the ward they always put me in: D7 West. Thank you, Royal Gwent Hospital, for keeping me safe.”

“The place is a dump and I can't wait for the replacement building. However the Doctors and Nurses are all very good. There have been some issues over repeat prescriptions, but this is usually sorted very quickly. The Website today is playing up on the contact side which I reported. The new E consultation form failed first time and no one got in touch, but the reminder worked and I had a call back straight away. If you have a new system all admin staff need to be trained up. I remained with this practice even though I moved to Pontprennau 20 years ago as the treatment for me and my family is trusted.”

“I think some of the time any delay is caused by the GP surgery getting scripts signed. I have always had good service from The Pharmacy. The staff try really hard under some extreme pressures. The service is free for prescriptions in Wales. There is granted some efficiency improvements that can be made with the process e.g. staggering 2mths scripts but this is again dictated by GPs. They have had a Pandemic to deal with and I believe done it well. I am sure now things are catching up they will look at the proactive nature of the operation as opposed to the reactive mode that they have had to contend with for the last 4yrs.”

I’ve had nothing but exemplary service from them since having to transfer from Albert Road surgery when it closed a few years ago. In recent weeks I have had some major health problems and have received excellent advice and care from the GP’s and ANP that I have seen as well as the contact with the administration team who are always friendly and professional. “I had a GP appointment today. I saw Dr Ali who really listened to me and was very good. I had to make an appointment at reception to have a surgical suture removed that had been in for 4 weeks. The receptionist said there were no upcoming appointments and all the nurses were fully booked today. She really tried her best and emailed all the nurses and asked me to wait in the waiting room. I was called in almost immediately to see a nurse called Charlene. She removed the suture and then said she would take bloods at the same time, instead of me having to come back in 3 weeks. She was so nice and helpful. I am very happy with the service I received from everyone at Malpas brook today.”
