“Very cool. Alternative and indie music. Chill, indoor and outdoor seating. Relaxing, with leather couches and chairs.”
“We came for a few drinks and food, was well looked after and was catered for my allergy perfect!!!! Steve is a perfect host”
“Amy and the team at the paddock couldn't do enough for us, we came for my daughters 5th birthday and the team were fantastic even bringing the cake out for my daughter and giving her a small soft toy when they knew it was her birthday, the food was also delicious and served very fast! would highly recommend”
“Absolutely brilliant! We stumbled over this place and glad to find it be the best chef and brewer we have been in so far! Heidi looked after us so well, she was friendly and efficient but when we asked about the no leaf salad, the Chef Jo came out of the kitchen and talked us through the menu and was so knowledgeable and friendly! Not only that, the food was the best prepared we have had yet in any chef and brewer! She clearly knows what she’s doing in the kitchen and it shines through. I’d love to have a meal prepared by her again soon! All this and they are dog friendly! Keep it up.”
“Staff are friendly. The food was piping hot. Can’t wait to go again”
“We turned up on a Sunday lunch with no booking and it was very busy. However after a 20 minute wait we had a table. Used the app to order drinks and food, and then headed to the carvery. There was a 5 minute queue, but we'll worth it as the food was lovely. The deserts looked amazing, but we were too full to sample them”
“Great pub in the embers inns chain. Used to be my local a few years ago, dropped in today and still good. Real ale great and food lovely, good size beer garden to the side, with wooden shelters to sit inside if it rains, nice outside sitting area at front”
“Got served by the a barman Ewan is believe his name was. What a lovely young man he was, very polite and so very helpful accommodating the needs of my family. What a credit he is to your establishment I certainly will be coming again thanks to Ewan”
“My food was delicious I had the ultimate veggie burger and it was really good! Me and my friend are both vegetarians and our food was brilliant. My parter had a chicken burger which he said was great and my friends partner had the loaded fries. We also had a side of bbq cauliflower wings which were delicious!! Also the staff were all really friendly and helpful.”
“Thank you for a wonderful evening. Everyone commented how good the festive menu was before we even arrived! The food was delicious, especially the crumble. Even more so because the custard was warm :) All the staff were complimentary and pleasant to talk to, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you very much. Keep it up!”
“Very nice pub quiz on Tuesdays but most importantly, treat yourself to the Kinder Bueno cocktail. Amazing, magnificent, 5/5 flavours!”
“I visited here whilst on a business trip and enjoyed my stay, would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Claire made my stay very welcoming, thank you very much Claire keep up the good work!”
“Can't praise the establishment & the staff enough here, they go out of their way every time we come here. We come here for a quiet meal for two, or for our parties. We got to know the staff really well. No matter what your query or problem, the staff go above and beyond and sort it out straight away. Thank you for always looking after us, best place in Derby.”
“It's a weatherspoons large breakfast. Never had a bad one. Food cooked perfectly. All very tasty. Really fast service and very polite staff.”
“I have been here on a Sunday, first me and my friend came in for a drink and the service was lovely. The outside of the pub has incorporated the old fashion bank style as well as the pub design. Must admit I love the outside and the inside of the building. The only downside would be the outside area (garden) due to uneven surface, but you cannot have it all perfect. Other than that I absolutely loved the style all over the pub. Having a stoma bag it is important that toilet is acceptable to be able to change a stoma bag. I cannot thank enough and probably will be slightly bias to say I loved the toilet. It was more than enough to be able to change the bag without any discomfort. I would highly recommend this place to any disabled person. The toilet was clean, the style was lovely and the space was amazing. You cannot ever please anyone, but surely please my needs at the time. I had another drink (coctail) on a way back home whilst waiting for the bus. Again, amazing, polite service. The drink was lovely too. Cannot recommend enough. I cannot rate the food as I have not been ordering any food yet.”
“Excellent place for a drink, a family meal works do pretty much for all do's”
“We went on Valentine's night and chose the all you can eat buffet menu. There was a lot of choice and it's cooked to order. The food was lovely and the staff friendly and helpful. They helped when we asked about gluten free options for future visits with my daughter.... service was a little slow but overall it was lovely. We'll definitely go again.”
“We went for a Sunday lunch had roast beef it was cooked to perfection just melted in your mouth.”
“Great local pub I've been using for just over 4 years. Always friendly staff and locals. Pool table and darts available also children and pets welcome which is brilliant.”
“Call in midweek in the afternoon. Great jukebox for a singalong with others locals. The Pedigree is always excellent!”
“Visited The Robin twice in December, once on the 23rd Dec and the second on the 27th Dec. On my first visit the pub was busy as the boxing was on, however there were no issues getting served drinks and the food was on point. On our second visit, the pub was not as busy, again getting served was easy and the food was good. Overall for food The Robin is definitely in the top 3 for Indian Pubs offering desi sizzlers and we'll definitely visit again.”
“Thanks to Max who worked at the local Premier Inn (where we were staying for the Download festival) he told us to try this place as our bar was closed. We are so glad we went, as the locals were great with us (lovely people) and the drinks were very reasonably priced with a good selection. Well worth a try”
“Great pub, staff are friendly and polite. Always clean with a great atmosphere, good choice of drinks and snacks”
“First time eating out on Christmas Day today and it was absolutely fantastic. Starter and Main courses were faultless. I was pleasantly surprised by the portion size. Service was quick and efficient, staff lovely and welcoming, couldn't do enough for us. The only thing that let it down slightly for me was the desert, I found the chocolate tart to be very bitter. Despite this, the value for money was incredible. Will definitely be back again next year.”
“Came across place this place whilst looking for a decent menu for gluten free. And honestly I was not disappointed. From the get go the staff couldn't have been more helpful. First the gluten free menu is one of the best I have seen in a long time, everything from burgers, steaks to chicken, there was starters and even desserts. Once I explained I was both gluten free and dairy free and ordered my food, my starter had some dairy on it the server came to speak to me and altered it to suit my dietary needs. Honestly this is the best place and I will definitely be back.”
“We were really impressed with the bottomless brunch. The food was really good (great seasoning!) From Hip Hop kitchen. The service from Byron was fantastic. Byron is the reason we'll be back!”
“Great restaurant - Good value for money and very friendly staff. Nice quiet area on the edge of Derby with a McDonalds and the Inn right next to each other. The cake selection is good, as is the menu, however we always go for the carvery as fresh and delicious. Always give lots of meat and the staff are friendly. Breakfast buffet also very good. The ice cream and soft drinks on tap are also recommended.”
“I took two guests to the pub for lunch , they were very pleased with the service they received. The lady was pleased how her elderly father enjoyed his visit. The quality of the carvery was good, an experience worth repeating. The carpark is big enough for most occasions, this is reassuring when you are booking a meal.”
“We had such a lovely visit to the Hilton Brook today. The atmosphere was great — cozy, welcoming, and perfect for a relaxed family meal. What really stood out, though, was the amazing service from Jen and Anna. They noticed that our table wasn’t quite right for our little boy and immediately offered to change it so he’d be more comfortable. It was such a thoughtful touch and made a big difference to our visit. The food was spot on, the staff were cheerful and attentive, and the whole experience felt easy and enjoyable. It’s always nice to find a place that really looks after families — we’ll definitely be coming back!”
“From the moment we were seated, it was evident that this establishment—formerly known as the Babington Arms Restaurant—operates with an unwavering commitment to excellence. What we had anticipated to be a simple All-Day Breakfast became an experience of unexpected refinement, precision, and artistry. Each element of the dish was presented with remarkable attention to detail, elevating familiar comforts into something altogether distinguished. The eggs—of which we requested a generous extra—arrived delicately folded, their yolks glistening with a satin-like sheen. The bacon was arranged with care, crisp at the edges yet retaining a tender richness, while the sausages were perfectly seared, offering a gentle snap that gave way to a deeply seasoned interior. Even the modest, somewhat rogue slice of cheese was placed with surprising grace, subtly melting into the warmth of the plate as though it were always meant to be there. It is a rare achievement for such a classic dish to feel so composed, almost architectural in its presentation, yet so utterly comforting. Service was another remarkable aspect of our visit. Though we did not catch his name, our server—who bore a striking resemblance to a “Steve”—displayed an attentiveness that enhanced the entire experience. His manner was discreet yet sincerely thoughtful, ensuring every detail was attended to without ever intruding upon the relaxed rhythm of our meal. From his calm assurance to the quiet efficiency with which he anticipated our needs, it was clear he took great pride in his role. What impressed us most was the consistency between presentation, flavour, and service. There was no overstatement, no unnecessary embellishment—just an honest, skilful approach executed with elegance. The harmony between the kitchen and the front of house was evident, resulting in a dining experience that exceeded expectations in the most understated yet memorable way. We left with a sense of genuine appreciation, not only for the quality of the food but for the care and professionalism that shaped every aspect of our visit. It was, quite simply, an exceptional start to the day and one we would be delighted to repeat.”
