“Possibly the friendliest pub ever We hadn’t planned on calling in at a pub but after a lovely walk we stopped on chance. We didn’t have masks but the staff kindly provided us with one each so that we could order and use indoor facilities if needed. We enjoyed our drinks sitting by the side of the river watching the world go by. Staff were lovely and attentive, provided water and treats for our puppy. Beer was also good - shame we were just passing through as the food also looked great”
“We came today 27 November for my pre birthday lunch! And may I say the food was exceptional the presentation was lovely and the food was hot and delish, I had the slow cooked beef shin and my hubby had the signature burger cooked by Andre, he is a credit to your kitchen! The service was great and didn’t have to wait long for anything very attentive her name was Kara! Thank you for a lovely afternoon will return again soon!”
“The staff are always very friendly and welcoming, its always clean and tidy and plenty of seating indoors and outside overlooking the Weir, which is beautiful especially in the summer. The food is typical Marstons menu, but always really nice and hot, we've never had a disappointing meal. The do a quiz night on a Tuesday evening which is fun and occasionally have live entertainment. I highly recommend a visit”
“I didn't eat. I had a pint of very nice Bass. I've been before. It's a good pub. They are also dog friendly. Highly recommended!”

“Lovely night out good price on drinks”
“Great food served by a lovely team of staff who make you feel welcome as soon as you walk through the door. We had an impromptu celebration for my son’s engagement and we were looked after so well. Thanks to Holly and the rest of the staff.”
“3 aging cyclists arrived tired and hungry to The Mill Wheel looking for an afternoon meal. I had the traditional fish and chips (best chips I've had in a long while), mushy peas and tartar sauce, 2nd had gammon (which was a joint !), 3rd had the chicken with fondant potatoes and green vegetables, now the latter knows his food and if its not right he wants to see the chef but there was nothing left on his plate, in fact, all 3 of us cleared our plates. I understand the Mill is under new management, well congratulations to the owners and staff because, regards the food you are off to a great start. Wish you well for the future.”
“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had our wedding at The Kedleston Country House on 4th October 2025 and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The venue itself is so elegant and beautifully maintained, creating the most stunning backdrop for our day. Everything ran so smoothly, and a huge thank you goes to Helen, who was simply amazing — so organised, friendly, and made us feel completely at ease throughout the whole process. The tapas menu was incredible; our guests couldn’t stop talking about how delicious it was! We had so many compliments on both the food and the overall atmosphere. If you’re looking for a wedding venue that combines elegance, excellent service, and a relaxed, welcoming vibe, I couldn’t recommend The Kedleston Country House more highly!”
“I had an amazing experience here today thanks to the male barista who made my coffee. Not only did the coffee taste fantastic, perfectly balanced and smooth, but the latte art was absolutely beautiful! A true work of art. You can really tell he takes pride in his craft and cares about delivering quality. Friendly, professional, and talented! Definitely made my visit extra special!”
“Just a short walk from the canal, over the bridge and only a couple of minutes away, you'll find The Bubble Inn. It's a beautifully presented building with plenty of charm and character. The staff were friendly, helpful, and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The food was absolutely delicious—freshly prepared and full of flavour. Whether you're passing through or looking for a cosy spot to relax, I would definitely recommend a visit to The Bubble Inn. It’s well worth the short detour from the towpath!”
“Decent soft play for out 1 and 2 year olds. Our little one enjoyed the ball pit while the oldest was more adventurous. Staff seemed pleasant and polite. The soft play and tables were all clean. Decent entry price. Food and drinks are available.”
“Usually go to the pear tree (same group) had starters there, amazing. Quick drive to spondon, same glorious food. No curry gets close, great job guys!”
“The food was excellent and plentiful however the service was chaotic one person didn’t correspond with the other service was all over the place. Also the pub could do with a little TLC inside and out . Would i eat here again for food quality absolutely.”
“Excellent reopening of a local Kegworth pub. Hopefully the locals will get behind the new owners and support them through their bar and restaurant. Well done. Good to see positivity.”
“Legendary punk pub and u can smell the sweat in the floor boards. Great ale choice and cask condition. Love this spot. Well worth a pint or a gig”
“Popped in for a few drinks great place.”
“I love this pub and the history behind it. This pub, Derby oldest pub, has remained remarkably original, with 16th century beams, heavy stone flooring, wood panelling and etched leaded windows. This was an old coaching inn, it is said to have been a stopping-off point for highwaymen including Dick Turpin. Several ghosts reputedly haunt the pub, which is a regular calling place for ‘Ghost Walks’ organised by local celebrity Richard Felix, who stars in the TV series ‘Most Haunted’. The stories of the history of the pub are made real by the ghosts that haunt the pub. From the boy that sits on the stairs, the Grey Lady that haunts the steak bar that the landlord himself, Jim Harris has witnessed; or it’s the flying Scotsman that runs up and down the corridor that breaks up the two buildings of the pub. Finally there’s the scariest of them all, the girl that lives in the cellar. A doctor who lived on site would dissect humans who have passed away in order to gain insight into the human body. One cold evening in the middle of the night a presumed dead girl opened her eyes and came back to life as the doctor was practicing his dissection skills. Every now and then the horrified screams of the girl can be heard in the dead of night.”
“Amazing old pub... 1682 above the door but possibly older! Great to meet locals there who were happy to talk about the history and the area.”
“Friendly local bar with a good selection of beers and very well kept ales all served with amazing smiles and friendly service. Very popular with locals. Food is now pretty good also with a decent selection”
“Definitely book again. Huge function room, was allowed in early to decorate and all the staff and owners are amazing. Can't fault the place one bit. Would highly recommend.”
“Great little place for a pint. Well decorated inside for a little place away from the center”
“What a gem of a bar, situate at the top of curzon st, a two minute walk from the city centre. Excellent prices & sunday is massive promotions and drink offers. A huge beer garden to the rear, a must visit gem of a bar.”
“Went for a meal. Had lovely fish and chips, big special kebab and a steak meal. All cook to perfection. Will return. Staff all very polite. Good clean pub. A little bit tired.”
“Great place for a laugh, game of darts, pool and the quiz night on a Tuesday is a good time. Also great to go back the next day when you need to be fed and they will look after you and your sore head. Kids are welcome and the atmosphere is child friendly and the outside seating is denominator on a hot day it’s great vibes.”
“Visited here with a group of friends after a walk in the local area. Really nice atmosphere and friendly staff. I ordered from the set menu which was 2 courses for £16.99 at the weekend. Food was really good, great sized portions and really tasty. Good value for money. Excellent range of draft beers on tap. Would definitely recommend and return.”
“Good atmosphere, great tasting food”
“Me and me ex Mrs had a couple of drinks in here pre lockdown. It was a lovely experience. Had the feel of a 90's pub. Pool tables, bandits etc. I had a Doombar which was belting. Hopefully be back again.”
“A great meal, home cooked and nicely presented. Hard working friendly young staff. What I don’t get is why you don’t have a decent wine list and promote it? Good food like that deserves a choice of wine, not just plonk from the wholesaler.”
