“What a welcomed surprise at the Founders Arms. My mom and I took our first trip from the sunshine of Florida to a late November cold winter visit to London. We were so blessed to have stumbled upon this amazing place while on a personal walking tour with a friend who lives in London walking from Buckingham Palace to see the Change of Guard, to Big Ben and now across the Thames to this part of town. Neither she or her colleagues have ever visited this Pub so it was a first time for everyone. We immediately walked in from the bitter cold and were greeted with warmth and hospitality. Once our party of 3 were sat down, we had had a prime spot away from the crowded bar and middle tables and were placed closer to the back area. This was ideal because we had a river view of the Thames that opened up to a postcard picture of the city with people walking by on the outside. Not only did we get placed in a great spot, our server OLLIE was a complete gem. His service was impeccable, thoughtful and genuine. He also made us feel welcomed and not as tourists. He laughed with us and gave us some inside information on other things to see and do around Borough Market. The menu was all Gluten Free and that worked perfect for my friend’s dietary needs. What also worked was that my mom and I wanted to experience our first Pub meal of the famous “Fish and Chips.” We knew London was famous and well known for this simple meal, but when it arrived at our table, we were shocked that this was like a King/Queen sized meal that was unexpected and with their smashed peas. I didn’t know this was a thing, but Hulk Smash all the peas because they were good. The whole meal was WOW! My pictures do not do it justice. We even ordered my mom’s meal To-Go back to our flat. It actually stayed hot and was very well packaged for the journey. Kudos to the chef and the staff. Be prepared to spend at least 30£ per person as a side note. In the UK, the tip is already included so expect to be treated like royalty. Ollie was amazing in service. I’m so sorry to have waited this long to write about our experience, but it’s finally here. If he forgot something, he quickly apologized and brought it to the table right away. He also gave some helpful suggestions when trying some of the non-alcoholic drinks. The Apple and Elderflower was out of this world and so was the Hot Honey and Pineapple drink that my friend ordered and I had a sample sip. Wow! Whoever came up with these drink menus are to be commended. I mean wow. They were quite expensive for the first time guest, however we now know what to expect. Thank you Ollie and the Founder’s Arms for making our first trip to a Pub memorable, exciting, fun as well as giving us our first taste of London.”
“We’ve always loved the WTF, and it’s pretty much been our local since moving here 4yrs ago. However, what a breathe of fresh air it’s had recently with the renovation, and Exale brewery taking over!! A total triumph and such an exciting and welcomed addition to the area. This place brings something different to the other pubs I feel. It has a combination of great beers on tap (their pale rose is also gorgeous and such a bargain!) it’s super relaxed and welcoming to all types of people - young and old, family groups and lots of young people too. Staff are super friendly, lots of new faces and Short Road pizza is totally unbeatable! Love the weekly special offers too. What a cracking local boozer!! 5 stars all round xx”
“Wow - how can I even begin to describe the night we had at the Three Compasses in Dalston! Fabio made sure we had the best time - the atmosphere was second to none and the vibes were absolutely excellent. I celebrated my birthday here and I will be back every year here after!!!”
“Nice pub, good atmosphere, friendly staff. As a new customer, I was made to feel welcome by staff and customers”
“Absolutely not specific to London. Long grass no people good if you want to take a break and sit on your own”
“I moved to battersea a year ago and i still come back to see Georgie. She is great and so caring and passionate about her work. They are very accommodating to my needs and my thick hair! Definitely recommend.”
“Went here for a blood donation drive and the location is good surrounded by quiet and a small park. The hall inside has the old school architecture look and feel and I found it charming. Well maintained with ladies and gents facilities on premises.”
“Buy my Coffee from this place nearly every day! It’s a life saver in these current times!.. staff always so friendly and welcoming, and also follow all of the Covid regulations to keep their staff and customers nice and safe!”
“I was one of many anti ulez protestors at welling corner on tuesday 20th febuary 2024 the very friendly and helpfull staff supplied us with hot water to make our tears ect, thank you so much koffi pot for supporting our cause and a must visit to this great little family run cafe, again thank you so much from the Bexley Anti Ulez Blockers.”
“Whenever I'm in the area, this is always where I go. Even before the revamp. But since the revamp, the food has been sensational. Staff are always warm and welcoming. The food is presented well and the fruit smoothies are great! Definitely recommend this place! They do a good variety of food too!”
“Great menu options, friendly service and nice atmosphere. A range of menu items from full dinner items through to pastries, sandwiches, salads and snacks. Drinks include hot drinks with alternatives to dairy milk (eg Oat) and cocktails”
“We held my grandad’s wake at The Nag’s Head last week and I honestly couldn’t fault them. Artur, the general manager, was incredibly helpful throughout and made the whole process so easy for us. The staff were kind, attentive and respectful, which meant a lot to our family on such a difficult day. They put on a really lovely buffet that was well presented and enjoyed by everyone, and nothing ever felt like too much trouble. Thank you to Artur and his team!”
“The food that we had this lunchtime was exceptional, perfectly cooked with great flavours, truly Lebanese dining at its finest I had lamb my wife had chicken washed down with cocktails and a complementary sweet from the chef. Very reasonable and very very good”
“The warm bread served at the start was incredible, and things only got better from there. My main dish — risotto with asparagus and truffle — was heavenly. Soft, creamy, and full of rich aroma.”
“We have visited here many times, simply because of the location, the food, the pub itself and the great service. Almost every time we visit, we are served by the lovely Angela. She always remembers us and greets us with a friendly smile. She has a wonderful sense of humour and always makes our visit a pleasure along with her lovely customer service. Will be visiting many more times in the future”
“Food was good and the staff friendly (Elise-sorry if I’ve misremembered your name). The place was clean and comfortable with easy parking. There was a small delay with the food being served at that particular time due to a wake being held in another private room but we were kept informed and apologies were offered. Would recommend The Chelsfield Arms.”
“Visited this place today and I must say it's phenomenal. From the atmosphere, food and service, everything was pin point perfect. The prawn starter was delicious. The mixed platter was to die for and the bolognese was so amazingly tasty. Not to mention, all the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Will certainly visit again and so should you all.”
“Very nice. The coffee is a reasonable price, and very good quality - it doesn't taste like a dark roast so there is lots of room for the lighter flavours to come out. The staff are lovely. Unusual armchairs to sit in, or more traditional seating towards the back. Lots of accompanying food is offered, with gluten-free options available. It's so much better than a chain brand - and independent businesses are worth supporting. My cappuccino was £2.40. Loyalty cards are available. This could well be my favourite coffee in central Twickenham since The Coffee Lab closed down. Well worth a visit.”
“This was a great find! Staff were so attentive, drink and food was so reasonably priced and oh my — the food was INCREDIBLE. value for money, taste, price. I can’t wait to go back! Food portions, well flavoured, excellent service. Even little extras like different types of take home containers for different portions. If I ever come back to the area, I will 100% revisit, and have already recommended to friends and family.”
“Tracey was amazing from the moment I placed the order to the service at the table food was hot and delicious I’m from a pub catering background and I could fault the 3 course meal. We were on a works stay and I’m so glad we decided to eat at the Ashley Park pub they should really praise Tracy for her customer service and attitude. Will be back to eat here again when next passing.”
“The Swan ticked all the boxes today. Fab food, great staff perfect ambience. I had the mussels, amazing for the price and delicious. My wife had the cheese soufflé - would highly recommend. Relatively busy and the food came promptly. I will be back with friends and family. Youngs doing their job right yet again.”
“I had the Sunday roast today and was genuinely impressed by the flavor. It was well-seasoned and, dare I say, even better than what I’ve had at Hawksmoor! I know that sounds bold, but it’s true. The service was fantastic as well; the staff were friendly and personable. The atmosphere was relaxing, making it a perfect spot to unwind. This place is truly a gem in Croydon, and I’ll definitely be coming back often!”
“I had a great time at Eagle Public House on Sunday! The food was delicious, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy. I highly recommend trying the sunday roast. I’ll definitely be back!”
“Nice, quiet with good prices. Nice people inside and the staff it’s absolutely lovely and very friendly. The place it’s very clean with a nice design also the toilets are very clean and everything is tidy. They have terrace and smoking area too. Recommend.”
“Great spot to be in Victoria London with lovely eateries, sport restaurants and meeting places. Kudos to working together. They need to make the pedestrians passage more free and not cluttered and difficult for pedestrians to get through without excusing other users. It was made wide open for users easy access not for businesses to extend themselves and block free movement for customers. Not rocket science!”
“My mother & father have lived around the corner from The Albany for over 20 years but hadn’t been inside due to less than favourable reputation. WHAT A MISTAKE!! When my father passed away a few weeks ago we decided to book the Albany for my father’s wake & from start to finish they were absolutely fantastic! Their kindness towards my mother was lovely, their professionalism was top notch and the food was outstanding the chef could not do enough for us everything was made fresh to order to suit individual requirements. I would like to thank the Albany on behalf of my father & we will be regular visitors from now on (I can’t wait to taste more of the chef’s delicious food 10/10 xx”
“My son really enjoyed the summer football camp organised by Kensington FB club. There was a lot of focus on having fun and play football at the same time. The coaches were very friendly and encouraging. He got a lot of positive comments on his football skills and is much more confident now. Also excellent value for money!”
“Really good, old school pub. No pretence, no nobs, no shoreditch type helmets. A locals pub it seems, subtle art deco styling inside. Hasn't been refurbished in years and all the better for it. Well priced beers too, a few ales on tap and the regular lagers. Went in on a random Tuesday, they had an open mic poetry night on. Actual people speaking, listening and not engrossed in their phones”
“This was my actual "end of the Capital Ring" pint and what a basic, honest "boozer" to experience it in. Bar staff were friendly, beer was good (small selection for beer-aspirants like me) and the pub had that beaten, lived-in quality that is becoming increasingly rare. Fantastic. I only really picked it because it was the closest place I could find to the southern end of the Woolwich Foot Tunnel but was very glad of the experience.”
“The new manager Sarah is a perfect fit fun friendly and enthusiastic and staff she has are doing amazing work absolutely amazing night was had by myself and family very happy cheerful atmosphere with live singer was very enjoyable would recommend to all”
