“Absolutely amazing, very polite on the phone and inside when I came to pickup, even opened the door for me as I left. She said over the phone it would take 10 minutes and sure enough there was zero wait and it was ready! Amazing value for money, the quality of food was out of this world, highly recommend!”

“Just had a 1 night stay for our 40th wedding anniversary had our evening meal and I had a fillet steak it was beautiful, my husband had the lamb pie it was very tasty but a bit on then small size. The room was spotless and very spacious, breakfast was delicious, I will definitely visiting again. Thank you”

“What a beautiful pub, walked in, needed a table for 6, the lady sorted it out even though they had taken a booking for 20 people. Brilliant menu, food looked & tasted fabulous, service was quick. Waiters were so helpful & polite. Definitely would recommend for anyone to eat there.”

“A really nice dining experience. And unusual. The fusion of the very modern main dining area and the more traditional snug really works. And how the huge dining area has been broken down into different character areas is very clever. The menu has variety and both our meals were something new to us and delicious. “OMG ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! They may have thought I was joking when I said "Give me loads of chilli sauce on my kebab, I like my food to bite me back, definitely not white girl spicy, I like phals." The look I got when I asked for more chilli sauce, and he replied 'don't blame me' spoke volumes. However, I loved every bite! The meat was perfectly cooked, the naan, spot on. Still nice and hot even after I hiked down the locks to my boat. The guys loved their pizzas too, but being 14 inchers, they left half each for tomorrow, (lightweights haha). Only passing through the village on my travels, but I'll be back and definitely order again. Best kebab ever! Kicked my home town favourite, never before beaten into second place!”

“I had the 16-hour smoked ribs here, and what a delight! The meat was beautifully tender, with that deep smoky flavour that comes from real slow cooking. The char and bark held their own without overpowering the natural porkiness.”

“I recently just moved to Crewe and have been meaning to try different fish and chips and came across this shop as it was closer of a walk than the ones in town. I think I came around their busiest time because there was a queue and they ran out of haddock. I ended up getting the large cod and chips as well as the mushy peas. The large cod was definitely a large (I could’ve opted for the mini portion) and they a generous amount of chips on the side as well. I enjoyed the fish and chips. They were both tasty considering I still had to walk back to my place to eat them. The fish itself was seasoned well even with just salt and vinegar. I surprisingly enjoyed the mushy peas (I asked for coleslaw initially which they do not carry). I can see why there’s a queue at night as it was delicious. I hope I get to try their haddock next time!”

“My wife and I visited here for our wedding anniversary and we loved it. The staff are really friendly and polite. The food was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. We loved the little "Snug Room" we sat in. Very cosy! Would definitely recommend for a drink or meal. They have various specials on too, like curry night. Will be visiting again in the future!”

“I love this chippy, it's about as good as it gets and I've been going for as long as I can remember (if they were open in the 80's then for that long). Back when my grandparents were alive I use to go and get fish and chips for us all and then sit and talk to them around their kitchen table. Now we have moved up here I'm getting to do the same thing with my little family. Keep up the good work I love your fresh fish and chips and you have never once given bad service.”

“Fabulous location a stones throw from the golf course and cricket ground. Really close to Newcastle and not a million miles from attractions like Waterworld or Alton Towers. The main draw though is the strawberry picking nearby. You cant escape the rural location when the 12 and 13 year old tractor boys walk around. The food though and the decor are first class. Whilst sitting waiting we watched 10 or 12 different meals come out and we could have ate every single one. A big recommendation from me.”

“The White lion is a hidden gem, I only discovered it recently. Two real ales and all the other lagers you come to expect. It's very clean inside and out, a well kept pub. Food is served but I haven't tried it yet. Large beer garden to the side, and a covered over area with seating. Well worth a visit.”

“Went today 1/10/25 for carvery lunch. Not been the Plough for a couple of years. The bar staff friendly. The carvery selection was excellent and nice and hot. Also I noticed the server of carvery was checking the meats with a thermometer and writing it down. The waitress Emma was very friendly. We will recommend the Plough and most certainly be returning again.”
