“I doubted family run Traditional Italian Restaurants after experiencing so so quality food and samey options delivered by overly passionate staff. Portobello Restaurant has put my faith back in the Italian culinary experience. On entering I was met by grounded, accommodating staff that ensured I was happy with the choice of table. Staff were smiley, chatty and assisted joyfully with the menu options. I opted for some nibbles and their excellently priced 2 courses for £19.95. The atmosphere in Portobello Restaurant is relaxed, sociable and family oriented. The minimalist artistic interior beams with natural light. Dishes were superbly presented, quality was evidently high. The jelly babies and hand written “thank you” on the bill echoed the care they provide to their customers. A wonderful experience.”

The gravy was so good that you could practically drink it straight from the pot. And I can’t forget to mention that their sticky toffee pudding is the best I’ve ever had. The quality and flavours exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend giving their Sunday dinners and puddings a try; you won’t be disappointed!”

“Ohhh wow! This place was delicious, full of atmosphere, great service and the food, was fantastic. Me and my partner came for my birthday brunch, had a black forest hot chocolate and a gingerbread latte off the specials, aswell as biscoff french toast and berry french toast, on which both I highly recommend. They were made swiftly, came out quick and tasted immaculate! Highly recommend.”

“Just brilliant! Arrived at 20:15 to a packed restaurant, every table taken. We were greeted by Ella and advised there would be a 15/20 min wait for a table and then a further 20/25 min wait for food but they could get an updated eta on food once seated. After a short wait we were seated and we ordered on the app. Our food arrived in 6 minutes, eating at 20:45. Every vacant table was cleared and cleaned instantly. All staff were lovely, all working extremely well together under the care of Ella. For a completely full restaurant they were running smooth as a whistle. Thank you.”

“Visited over the weekend and after reading older reviews i was not expecting much however I was pleasantly surprised, nice cosey clean country pub. Staff was extremely friendly and made sure out visit was enjoyable. Food was cooked to perfection. I was informed that the pub has been taken over by new managers and after speaking to the locals it seems they are doing a great job getting the pub back to how it should be. Lovely spacious surroundings in a complex of garden centre, farm shop, art and crafts and restaurant with outside seating available in good weather Excellent food at reasonable prices. Friendly attentive service from all staff. My only slight criticism would be that the good and comprehensive wine list is a bit more costly than some. Looking forward to another visit.”

We enjoyed watching the football game while savoring two rare steaks cooked perfectly, a mixed grill, and three delicious fudge cakes. The food was served promptly and tasted great.
