“Honestly, we stumbled upon a gem of a place last night. If you're ever craving proper, authentic food, you have to try Gurkha 1816. We kept it simple and ordered the Chowmin, Veg Momos, and Machurian. Let me tell you, it was incredible. The taste wasn't just "good," it was the real deal. With the first bite of the momos, I was instantly reminded of the street food stalls back home in Surat. It’s that specific, heartwarming flavour you miss when you're away. Absolutely spot on. And the people working there? So lovely. They weren't just polite; they had this genuine, natural smile for everyone who walked in. You could feel the good vibe in the whole room, everyone around us was just... happy, digging into their food with big smiles. A heads-up: this place is no secret, so you have to book a table. It's worth the two-minute phone call, I promise. I called them and it was quick and easy, no waiting on hold or anything. Seriously, just go. You won't regret it. We're already planning our next visit to try more of the menu”

Even though its always very busy, including birthday parties, the food quality is perfect and so is the service. The drink service is very efficient too. Even if you want a drink/cocktail not on the menu they still do it for you.”

The Bacon and mushroom sandwich the Ladies served, was one of the best I have ever eaten, this coming from a chef of 40 years. Bacon perfectly cooked and so many delicious fresh button mushrooms. “This place is Hereford's best. Everyone must go. The staff are friendly, professional, efficient and smiley. The food is clearly prepared by a team who know what they're doing- it's well seasoned, fresh and bang on french trend! The atmosphere is quaint with a beautiful garden and the back so you've got a lovely choice of tables. I'll say it until ok blue on the face, you won't get better in Hereford.”

“I recently tried the Mixed Grill for four at The Greek Tavern and I was really impressed! The portions were very generous, the quality of the meat was excellent, and everything was cooked perfectly. It was not only delicious but also very filling – definitely great value for money. Highly recommended if you want to share a proper Greek feast with friends or family!”

“What an absolutely stunning meal! We really rated that there was a great selection of veggie and vegan options with some dishes that we hadn't tried before. Everything we tried was so fresh and delicious, but our favourite dishes were the Croquetas, Salantourmasi, Mango & Feta Salad and Lamb Koftas... Although the Churros stole the show, and were the nicest Churros we think we've ever eaten!!! The Sangria was absolutely delicious. When the karafe arrived I thought it would be too much but I quite happily glugged it down with my meal - refreshing and boozy, the perfect combination! The restaurant has a welcoming and cosy vibes, which we loved. Alex and Peter were such pros, you can tell they have been in the restaurant industry for a long time with their effortless hospitality and attention to detail! We really enjoyed our meal here and would happily return to try more of the menu, which rotates as the seasons change. And also for the Churros... They are worth driving to another city for alone!!!”

“Great flavours, well presented. As I walked up Poplar Road from the High Street, I could smell something great wafting it's way through the early afternoon air. I followed my nose and ended up in Mansa Musa. I waited a brief moment and the gentleman arrived to greet me. I requested a large curry goat with rice and peas. I was offered steam veg which I happily accepted. £10 (takeout) was handed over and I took a seat while the gentleman went and warmed my food. A few minutes later my food was ready, packaged in a sectioned tray with fitted lid. This is different to normal Caribbean takeaways, where it's customary to have a polystyrene tray wrapped with metres of cling film. I would have stayed in the restaurant and eaten it there, however the sign on the wall explaining it would cost me an extra £3 to eat in, detered me from doing so. After walking to the church up the road, and finding a suitable place to sit and eat, I opened the bag and found a well presented, reasonable sized portion of curry and rice. It was hot and tasted great, as good as I've tried anywhere in Birmingham. Would I return? Yes. Will I pay an extra three quid to sit down? No thanks. Which is a shame, as I would probably have purchased a cold drink to accompany my food. Instead, I grabbed one from Poundland.”

“We absolutely love pizza triangle. It is genuinely nice pizza. I always say, you know a good restaurant from an average one by the consistency of food. The pizza is always a solid 9/10 every time and if anything, it’s often a 10/10. It just gets better. Eating in is okay just with where it is and the inside.”
