We ordered a fusion boat which included many different pieces of sushi and nigiri, variety was great. All the food was amazing and the drinks were too. “It was my sister birthday and we decided to spend our dinner at a Japanese restaurant. The sushi was delicious, and well-price. The salmon sashimi was so fresh and came with thick slices. They also offered cooked sets for my sister since she is not comfortable with raw fish. I love my Koko Special Lychee too. The staffs were friendly and they even sang happy birthday to my sister.”

“Me and my colleagues went to this restaurant for dinner. In this restaurant we have to cook ourselves. I have ordered myself a steak and it was really good meat. My colleagues have offered prawns, sushi and more. The pictures are shown along with this review. The food has been well decorated and nicely mixed with spices. The raw food is being served so that the customer can prepare the food on their own taste and the level of cooking they prefer. Each table have an oven which allows you to cook your food. They do have a very good seating capacity in the restaurant. The restaurant is well decorated. I highly recommend this place.”

“Atmosphere was amazing, Sanjoy prepared a great menu and shared tons of knowledge. Was surprisingly full afterwards despite the small taster portions. But there was a lot to try! Sushi was 10/10, tempura was 10/10 miso soup was 10000/10. Sea urchin is not nice though can't lie. Taste like soap. -7/10”

“Absolutely Outstanding! I recently visited Tokyo Izakaya and was blown away by the whole experience. The atmosphere is warm, stylish, and authentically Japanese. You feel like you’ve stepped straight into a Tokyo backstreet eatery. The sushi was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented; every bite melted in the mouth. I've tried Chicken Kastu Curry, Chicken Kastu, Akita Mango and Salmon Maki, and Volcano Dragon Maki. It was full of flavour and grilled to perfection. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made great recommendations from both the food and sake menu. The Robata grill dishes were a standout, and the tonkotsu ramen was rich, comforting, and packed with umami. A big thank you to Jessica, Mukesh, and the entire team for the delicious food and warm hospitality. If you’re looking for genuine Japanese dining in Birmingham, this is easily one of the best. “Simple decor might put some people off but don't be fooled, the food more than makes up for it. From the prompt, friendly welcome upon arrival to the quick turnaround on our order (despite being a busy weekend lunchtime) I genuinely couldn't find anything to fault with this place. “I doubted family run Traditional Italian Restaurants after experiencing so so quality food and samey options delivered by overly passionate staff. Portobello Restaurant has put my faith back in the Italian culinary experience. On entering I was met by grounded, accommodating staff that ensured I was happy with the choice of table. Staff were smiley, chatty and assisted joyfully with the menu options. I opted for some nibbles and their excellently priced 2 courses for £19.95. The atmosphere in Portobello Restaurant is relaxed, sociable and family oriented. The minimalist artistic interior beams with natural light. Dishes were superbly presented, quality was evidently high. The jelly babies and hand written “thank you” on the bill echoed the care they provide to their customers. A wonderful experience.”

“Visited this restaurant and thought it serves pretty authentic Korean food. They have set lunches at very reasonable prices and set bento boxes that are decent prices too. The food was great and great value for money. Alà carte fried dumplings was great. Will definitely visit and try other dishes. Only down side was the tea was really weak, tasted more like hot water with a hint of tea. You can count the number of pieces of tea leaves in each cup. Accepts card or cash. NHS discount on alà carte items. Great friendly staff despite busy lunch crowd.”

“Food is delicious and doesn’t make you feel groggy or slow after. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere. I wish I remembered the name of my waitress - she was so friendly and helpful. Served with a smile and was really accommodating as my friend had come in post procedure and had to keep her leg elevated. The waitress didn’t hesitate to let us sit in the booth and offered to get a chair if my friend was more comfortable putting her leg on that instead.”

We went on a Sunday and it was kind of busy, we had to wait a bit for the noodles. I would say worth the wait. “We popped in to have some food here. The prepayment system is easy to use, and the staff helped us to have a card and top it up. There are different eateries with Korian, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Chinese food. The concept is perfect, the staff is friendly, the food is tasty, and we had massive portions. I will definitely visit when I visit Birmingham next time.”

“Had dinner here 2x last yr and again this yr and i absolutly love the food. Service is 10/10 food quality and taste 10/10 presentation 10/10.
