“Lovely place! Went in for a quick takeaway breakfast, coffee was great, fruit smoothie delicious and the pastries ( hazlenut chocolate and apple cinnamon) were fantastic. All served by pleasant staff who clearly enjoy being there”
“Been going here for a year now, always the best cut at Acute. Jake is a great barber, great attention to detail and I always leave feeling fresh! 10/10 would recommend!”
“Called in for a pint as the Italian across the way was fully booked. Nice atmosphere. Good local beer. Girl behind the bar couldn't have been more friendly and helpful suggesting other options for a meal. Would have like to stayed longer. Great little pub.”
“A friendly, cosy bar serving excellent steaks and pies. Service was friendly and efficient.”
“Lovely, family run local pub. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming!”
“We didn't have food, but the drinks were very nice. Small French cafe feel but very busy. Dog friendly and casual. Decor was lovely and gave pleasant ambience with warm lighting. More frequent toilet checks would be good as the unisex loos were well used by some patrons who were 'directionally challenged'. All in all a really nice stop for a pint with cute dogs to look at.”
“Awsome food, owners and staff are outstanding. Very welcoming and friendly place.”
“Nice coffee shop on the outskirts of town, decent menu, nice seating area, perfect for working or meeting without having to go into the city centre. - it is a little cold down here but they are trying their best to warm it up with portable heaters etc.”
“Just walk by but the chalkboard in front the door catch my eye and so I tried out their coffee and it’s good.”
“Came for the carnival and stayed for the weekend. What can I say about this guest house? WONDERFUL! Gwen, the owner, is very friendly and accommodating. Service with a smile and very attentive. Our room, a triple with ensuite, was lovely. A very bright, airy room, well kept and clean. The ensuite was cosy and very clean. Furnishing was to a high standard, and we had good nights sleep. We enjoyed our stay so much that we have already booked a room for next year!”
“Lovely friendly place. Good food and service”
“Had a great party here for my daughters 5th birthday party was a bit of confusion with my booking but all was fine and I was given 2 free passes for another visit which is great as we go often and to the one in Caerphilly , we loved the big party room upstairs it was the perfect size as it was full up there with all the kids and family so definitely recommend the bigger room. Staff were helpful and friendly :) 26/05/24”
“Attended a Xmas lunch today. As I am gluten free my experience was fantastic. All the staff were really helpful and accommodating.Nothing was too much trouble.Unfortunately this is not always the case.Thank you all so much for a very enjoyable visit.A lovely afternoon with amazing food”
“A wonderful little hidden cider farm. It was a wonderful stroll around the small orchard and relax in the hammocks there. The little shop was very pleasant, and staff very friendly. It was nice to feed the pigs whilst on our visit. Will return when next this way”
“Really lovely clean rooms with a 10/10 breakfast, welcoming kind staff and the perfect setting for children with the small park and fish pond. My only feedback would be the curtains. The room was lovely and bright, as the front wall and door are all windows, but this did mean that it didn't get fully dark until gone 10pm (if at all) and was very bright by 5am, granted this was exacerbated by having a toddler in tow, so might not bother others as much. We will be back for sure!”
“We had a lovely evening and the meal was very filling. A lovely surprise was the singer singing some Christmas classics. As always the staff are excellent.”
“Undoubtedly one of the best independent cafes in Cardiff. We enjoyed our lattes and tipsy latte (coffee with baileys). The staff is very friendly and attentive. Will visit again!”
“Nice cafe just round the corner from Cardiff Bay. Friendly staff and very relaxing atmosphere. They carry a variety of beans although they are for sale and you can’t choose what your coffee is made of. On my visit the only choice for a drip (filter) coffee is from Yunnan China. Coffee was nicely brewed but a little too weak for my taste. I still enjoyed it though. It’s always nice to have freshly ground and brewed coffee.”
“I’ve been looking forward to having lunch and trying out Vietnamese Bahn Mi! The servers were friendly and recommended to me Cinnamon Egg Coffee instead of cocoa (because it was already sweet) and I appreciate that because it was my first time trying the egg coffee. There was no black sugar pearl boba - next time! The Bahn Mi was yummy - baguette times by 10. Had all my favourite tastes like spicy tang, fried tofu, packed with veggies and the bread wasn’t stale or too soft. I opted for the vegan tofu as I have a halal diet and personally prefer vegan food over food that I’m not 100% sure is permissible for me to eat. Next time I’ll bring a friend ❤️”
“This place is so cute! Like a mini castle. The scones.. marvellous! The tea, well I didn't actually have tea but I bet it's the real deal. I had coffee and some scones (I know.. I know) I'll be back though. It's a small tea room with extra seating upstairs, all very relaxing. Definitely worth a visit.”
“Just had a meal with my family, i can say the food is lovely. The place is lovely too as you cannot see it from outside. Once you enter and look back of the place. Staff's are friendly too. Menus are more traditional than what we find on any other Turkish restaurants. The portion size is good too. I would recommend to try this place.”
“A long way out of town but fairly close to the Cardiff City stadium. And it was worth it. Lovely friendly pub. Loads of real ales. I found some Bombardier again!! It was empty when I walked in but packed an hour later with not enough staff!! Why on earth don't they pay extra staff, organise themselves and get a bumper Boxing day pay out !! After all January won't be busy. It really isn't rocket science. We gave up queuing in the end and went to the Stadium. They really are missing a trick with 3k away fans....considering it is such a lovely unique place...”
“Great old style pub in Central Cardiff. Staff are extremely friendly. Great venue for pre drinks If you are going to Utilita Areana. Plenty of car parks near by.”
“Lovely veggie Sunday roast, huge portions, lots of vegetables, creamy mash, roast potatoes, parsnips, veggie gravy and jam sponge for desert. Friendly staff and good home cooking.”
“Tasty food, first time trying Syrian food and it did not disappoint. So many different flavours, nice menu and friendly staff. Not to mention the beautiful interior decor.”
“The food at the Thackeray is always consistent with high quality food. They offer the best roast dinner in Wales! They change the daily specials menu, daily and have unique options. They offer a great selection of drinks - including cocktails and wine. The staff are always friendly and offer great service. Highly recommend.”
“Forest time ive been here and really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, great food, great service and the ability to take my dogs in. We'll defo be back soon”
“Had a lovely meal after work with my wife. The food was lovely and the service was fantastic. Christian is a real credit to you and was very attentive, his service was excellent. Thank you!”
“Best Sunday dinner that we’ve eaten at a pub/ restaurant in a long time. Food was high quality and beautifully cooked. Two of our party are chefs so they know what they’re talking about! Will definitely return. Only niggle was we couldn’t park in the car park as it was a busy Sunday lunchtime”
“Absolutely excellent, friendly service. Lovely setting in the heart of Cardiff. An easy place to find that serves Welsh food. Never having had Welsh rarebit before, I was eager to try it but I have nothing to compare it to so perhaps that is what it was supposed to taste like. The cheddar was not in any way sharp so perhaps the other ingredients overwhelmed the taste (?). It was effectively toast with a slightly cheesy taste with very little flavor. Bland would the word. The croquets had the right texture. Crispy on the outside, creamy in the middle. But again, it felt under seasoned - although maybe that is what it is supposed to taste like? All in all, worth a visit but if Welsh food is supposed to be bland, then it is certainly that.”
