“We couldn’t be more impressed with the care and attention our doggies received at Buddy’s Boarding. We were especially nervous about our eldest dog, Peggy, as she’s never been in kennels before (our rescue, Risotto, is surprisingly resilient!). But from the moment we dropped them off, we felt confident that they were in safe, loving hands. The team clearly loves what they do, and it shows in every detail from the clean, secure facilities to the way they took the time to get to know our dogs’ personalities, routines, and needs. When we picked them up, it was clear they had not only been well looked after but were genuinely happy. The staff brought us to collect them, and our babies were happy, walked, fed, and smelling amazing! They reassured us about their stay and told us that Peggy had come out of her shell which is no easy feat for our Peg! They even remembered the reason for our trip and asked how it went, encouraging us to share pictures, a lovely personal touch. It’s such a relief to have a place we can trust completely, and we’re so happy we picked Buddys!”

“Everything was perfect! We stayed in Maple with our doggo, Loki. Everything that we needed was there on arrival waiting for us and the lodge was really clean. Self check in was quick and easy. Bumped into the maintenance man a few times who was really nice. Loki took a liking to him! Great views. Lots of nice walks nearby. If you want a nice Chinese - Lucky Dragon is stunning - best salt and pepper chips ever! The Greyhound was gorgeous for a lovely pub meal or a carvery. Great stay overall, highly reccomend.”

“I stayed at Dannah Farm Country House for a short solo getaway, and it turned out to be one of the most peaceful, restorative experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment I arrived, everything about the place invited calm—from the stunning countryside surroundings to the thoughtful details inside the accommodation. The room was spotless, cozy, and felt like it was designed to hold you gently through whatever kind of rest you needed. The private spa area was truly the highlight for me—soothing, quiet, and exactly what I didn’t know I needed. I spent time in the hot tub surrounded by stillness, and it felt like the world slowed down just enough to breathe again. The staff were warm and kind without ever being intrusive, and breakfast was lovely—fresh, delicious, and prepared with care. This place isn’t just beautiful—it’s thoughtful. It holds space for rest in a way that feels rare these days. I left lighter, calmer, and incredibly grateful. Highly recommended, especially if you need somewhere to reset.”

“Best kennel to use by far. Wouldn't trust any other to look after our family member doggy. The daily rate is very good. The dogs are very well looked after and ours always are very pleased to be there. The grooming service is also very good and very reasonably priced.”

“Coreen was amazing with my cat. I was away for two weeks and when I returned, I could tell my cat had been well taken care of. Sent me videos/pictures after every visit. I found Coreen to be extremely reliable and will definitely use her services again next time I'm on holiday.”

“First visit to a lodge since my wife has been in a wheelchair. The lodge was exceptionally clean, well spaced and adapted for wheelchairs. In a lovely location in the woods with lovely walks and wildlife. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There were good facilities on site. Highly recommended.”

“I stayed at The Coach House for a week earlier this year, during a trip home to visit family and friends. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful, and I had a fantastic stay. I stayed in one of the old stable rooms, which had a small private patio and a pond. The room was clean, comfortable, and especially lovely with the French doors open and the sunshine streaming in. The included breakfast was delicious and flexible, with options like lactose-free milk, eggs cooked to order, and a selection of cereals. There was also a nice range of fixed items on the menu to choose from. Tea, coffee, and juice rounded out the drinks. The Full English was a standout and set me up perfectly for the day. Next time I visit Derby, I will definitely stay at The Coach House again. Highly recommended.”

“Had a lovely 2 night stay at Breedon Hall this weekend. Charles and Charlotte are amazing hosts and couldn’t be more welcoming. We really loved our room, it had a lovely country house feel and overlooked the beautiful walled garden. The bed was incredibly comfortable with quality linen and the bathroom well appointed. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast in the main kitchen, it was just like visiting friends. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend to others.”

“I have used Seale Pastures twice now. I was extremely worried about leaving my dog as I have never used kennels before. They were very reassuring. Chester enjoyed his stay. They went out of their way to return a tin of Chester's biscuits, which he was very grateful for :)!! I will definitely be using again. Many thanks to all at Seale Pastures Farm.”

“Stayed only for one night in glamping pod Ash as a mid-way point to home. Friendly owner greeted us and showed us our glamping pod and explained the layout/amenities. Pod was clean and contained all the essentials you could possibly think of. Each pod has their own shower and toilet facility within the "toilet block" for the pods. It's a clean, small, amd peaceful site with plenty of walks in the area and a nice pub within a 15-20 minute walk. Great first experience in a pod. I would highly recommend this camp site. P.S. we greatly appreciated the owners letting us park our car and small caravan on site while we used the pod as we didn't want to unload and put down the feet just for a one night, shirt stay. Thanks again--we enjoyed our stay!”

“I had the delight of staying in the Damson pod, which felt comfortable and warm, boasting panoramic views of the scenery which I have showcased in my photos. While there was no face to face interaction with the owner, they were always ready to help via email and text message, of which, responses were very prompt. The information room on site had all sorts of information about the local area, and the honest shop was well stocked. The site feature 2 full side bathrooms by the information room, both of which were spotlessly clean and well maintained.”

“Peter and his farmhouse are wonderful. Plenty of parking, rooms were lovely....neighbours were gorgeous if a bit noisy whilst being milked!!! If you want a little gem of a place to stay in Derby, look no more..... you will love Mackworth Farmhouse”

“beautiful campsite we had the best 6 days we didn't want to come bk if ur looking to get bk to nature around your camp fire this is the site for that they have shower facilities n toilets pot wash room and u can even charge your phones but makesure to bring a light as at night it dark best deal on logs to there is nothing that isn't to much for the staff who are so so friendly we had the best time n cannot wait to come bk”

“Great place in the beautiful area. They have a play room, tennis court. Big lake near by. Plenty routes if you like to hiking. Cottage fully equipped! Dogs friendly. We travel all the way from London and didn't regret! Owner is a great and friendly person.”

“Very friendly and helpful staff. We used to have two dogs who happily shared a double kennel. We now have one dog, who was nervous at her first visit due to being a rescue. However, she enjoyed that first stay so much and, now she realises that we are coming back for her, she races up to the door with excitement at the start of every stay.”

“Went there for Sunday lunch with the family. One dog, a toddler and a baby with 5 adults. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Food was great and the atmosphere was really nice. Seems to attract nice, unpretentious but intelligent customers. Definitely go back.”

“Third visit here for food. Each meal excellent, steak is beautiful, and cooked to perfection. We also had curry and chilli on a Thursday autumn special offer both of which were gorgeous, curry and chilli just right. Staff are lovely and very attentive and friendly. Will be back”

“The Flowerpot is one of Derby’s gems. Fantastic live music in an intimate setting, with great sound and atmosphere every single night. The staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming, and the service is always quick despite how busy it gets. A brilliant range of beers on tap, plus good value for money. The crowd is lively but respectful, creating a great vibe whether you’re here for a gig or just a pint. Consistently an excellent night out – easily one of the best venues in Derby. I really hope they’ll consider creating more opportunities for private functions here as I can think of no better place to host a special occasion.”
